Chapter 950: 940 Scumbag Girlfriend Match (3) Early Morning
Xu Hongfei had become adept at this—since middle school, he had dated countless girls.By the time Ye Shaohua answered the phone, he went straight to the point, "Meet me by the lake later, I have something to tell you."
When the call went through, everyone in the dorm stayed silent but gestured for Xu Hongfei to turn on the speakerphone.
However, although Xu Hongfei’s impression of Ye Shaohua had plummeted, he still wasn’t so despicable as to put her on speaker for others to mock.
Originally, the people in the dormitory thought that, as usual, Ye Shaohua would cling to Xu Hongfei for a long time.
Like buying some name-brand bags or clothes.
But after just a couple of sentences, the two hung up the phone.
Luo Fei was incredulous, "Hongfei, didn’t she ask you what happened?"
"No," Xu Hongfei also felt that Ye Shaohua was a bit off over the phone, but he didn’t have time to think about it now.
He had arranged to meet Ye Shaohua in an hour, and he needed to prepare some things for the breakup before that.
Even though he was quite fickle, he wanted to handle relationships generously. But every time he broke up with a girlfriend, their tears and wailing always gave him a headache.
"What if Ye Shaohua refuses to break up even if it kills her?" one of the brothers in the dormitory clicked his tongue.
Xu Hongfei’s voice hardened, "She doesn’t get to decide that."
On the other end, Ye Shaohua had hung up the phone.
Ye Tao was holding a pile of books, casting a sidelong glance at the name on Ye Shaohua’s phone screen, "Sister, is that your boyfriend? Where did you get the money from?"
The rent alone was 4,500 yuan a month, plus all the utilities and food. And since his sister no longer allowed him to work at the construction site, Ye Tao was feeling the pinch.
He had inquired about the living expenses for college, which came to at least over a thousand yuan per month.
His sister was majoring in Physics Engineering, and after specifically checking online, he saw that not only the subject was difficult but there were also endless experiments to do, leaving no time for part-time jobs.
Ye Tao was very worried about his sister’s future life, but as she insisted on him studying, he couldn’t refuse.
She was the most educated person in their family, and both he and his mother listened to her.
"Don’t worry about it so much," Ye Shaohua glanced at him, "You’ve been working at the construction site for so long. Take a couple of days to recover. Have you been having chest pains recently?"
"You even know about that?"
Ye Shaohua took him to a Chinese medicine shop. Just as Ye Tao felt perplexed, she listed off a bunch of difficult-to-pronounce medicinal herbs.
She asked the shopkeeper to pack up some traditional Chinese medicine, "I have things to do back at school. We’ll talk about your studies in a couple of days, once you’re feeling better. I’ve made a plan for you. Drink this medicine for now. Take it home and decoct it. I’ll come to check on you the day after tomorrow."
Ye Tao had never realized his sister knew about traditional Chinese medicine. But his sister was so intelligent and had gotten into A University, so in his eyes, she could do anything, and knowing about medicine didn’t seem improbable.
He had hardly ever taken traditional Chinese medicine and was too scared to refuse, so he took the package with tears in his eyes.
Ye Shaohua told him to head back first, but Ye Tao didn’t feel comfortable letting her walk alone at night and started to argue.
With no other choice, Ye Shaohua let him walk her back to the dormitory, yet she still took a silent glance at him. The young man probably didn’t realize that his sister could take on a battalion by herself now.
But speaking of it, what an obedient brother.
She couldn’t understand how the original owner could bear to let her brother do this.
Such a headache.
Only if she wasn’t out of money in her card, she would have bought him some clothes and necessities.
Making money had become an urgent matter.
With half an hour left until the meeting time with Xu Hongfei, Ye Shaohua didn’t rush to the lakeside but returned to the dormitory first.
As she walked, she felt many disdainful and contemptuous glances cast her way.
These gazes were too obvious, even the usually oblivious Xu Hongfei had noticed, "Have you noticed that the way people are looking at us is off?"
He never called Ye Shaohua ’Sister’ at school.
Guessing that her business had been exposed, Ye Shaohua thought to herself and replied indifferently, "I don’t know."
Ye Tao had his suspicions, but seeing her straightforward gaze, he dispelled his doubts.
After dropping his sister off at her dormitory building, he went back to his rented place.
Meanwhile, Ye Shaohua had reached her room—a standard four-person dormitory with bunk beds and desks beneath.
The original owner belonged to the Physics Engineering major with only three girls in the whole grade, and one was in Bioengineering.
Seeing Ye Shaohua return empty-handed, the girl sitting at the computer turned around and cast a glance, "Ye Shaohua, why haven’t you bought anything today? Has Xu Hongfei contacted you?"
Ye Shaohua shook her head and remained silent.
She placed her card wallet on the table and then began to check the original owner’s course research on her computer.
It was rare for all the roommates to be together. Usually, Ye Shaohua was somewhat aloof, which led the others to form a clique excluding her.
Seeing Ye Shaohua like this, the three exchanged glances before one of them nastily spoke up, "Ye Shaohua, who is that fellow townsman who comes every time and gives you money? What’s his relationship to you?"
"He’s nothing to me; he’s my brother," Ye Shaohua answered calmly.
They were certain Ye Shaohua must have seen the post on the Forum and realized she couldn’t keep it secret anymore, which added to the disdain in their eyes.
Ye Shaohua ignored them and simply went through the original owner’s belongings.
There were two bags worth tens of thousands of yuan and several pieces of jewelry, all gifts from Xu Hongfei, totaling one hundred and ten thousand yuan.
There was no need to return the items, but the money had to be repaid. Ye Shaohua disliked the feeling of owing others.
The roommates were from average families; they could afford normal items but luxury bags were out of their reach, leaving them with helpless contempt mixed with envy as they watched Ye Shaohua take out the items.
Unaffected by their gazes, Ye Shaohua organized all her belongings and then went down to meet Xu Hongfei by the lake.
