Chapter 906: 896 Weapon (10) Midnight

Ye Shaohua merely glanced up at Shen Jiran.

But she didn’t speak, simply twisting her wrist gently, breaking free from his grasp.

Shen Jiran had learned his martial art from a very well-known expert in Jianghu and had received nine tenths of his true teachings; otherwise, he would not have succeeded in summoning the divine doctor.

However, Ye Shaohua managed to break free from his grip so easily, leaving Shen Jiran somewhat surprised.

"Wait, what are you doing?" Before Shen Jiran could think further, he saw Ye Shaohua slicing open the swelling on the maid’s ankle with a dagger, a small incision as long as a fingernail.

Seeing this, Shen Jiran reached out to push Ye Shaohua away, "This is a Five-Step Snake, and the divine doctor is just with Ye father today. It might still be possible to save her if we take her back to the city immediately. What’s the use of cutting open her foot?"

The Five-Step Snake was a creature of deadly venom, and Shen Jiran had never heard of someone bitten by it and still living.

Shen Jiran had heard from the divine doctor that he had once, by a stroke of luck, saved a person’s life.

A regular doctor would be hopeless, but perhaps the divine doctor might be able to save the maid’s life.

Just as Shen Jiran’s hand touched Ye Shaohua’s collar, she pressed a few points on the maid’s leg, and black blood immediately began to flow from the cut on the maid’s ankle.

Shen Jiran paused.

For someone bitten by a venomous snake, administering antiserum was the fastest treatment, but it wasn’t available here; however, that was not a problem for Ye Shaohua.

After using her spiritual power to clear the maid’s veins, she crushed the herbal medicine with a stone and applied it to the wound.

The maid, five seconds after the snakebite, had purple lips, and the servants knew she had been poisoned. They were far from the city and feared she might not survive long.

There was not enough time to get back, and even if they managed, the doctors in the city were unlikely to be able to do much.

They had not heard of anyone surviving a bite from a Five-Step Snake.

However, what they didn’t expect was that every move Ye Shaohua made next would leave them dumbfounded.

The maid’s condition had been clear to everyone—purple lips, vacant eyes, probably wouldn’t last an hour.

But somehow, under Ye Shaohua’s treatment, the maid’s lips started turning back to red, and her cyanotic face slowly returned to its normal color.

Even Shen Jiran, who wanted to speak, was stunned.

He withdrew his hand, looked at Ye Shaohua, and in the end said nothing.

He merely stood there in deep contemplation.

After the maid woke up and realized that Ye Shaohua had saved her, she was extremely astonished, then immediately knelt down to thank her.

Ye Shaohua stopped her, "If you can walk, follow me up the mountain first."

Aside from a small cut on her ankle, the maid felt no discomfort and immediately nodded, "Lady, I’m fine!"

Assured that the maid was okay, Ye Shaohua continued on toward her destination.

A quarter of an hour later, Ye Shaohua finally found what she was looking for.

But the terrain was perilous, and when the nanny saw what lay below, her face turned pale, and she immediately stopped Ye Shaohua, "Lady, don’t go there. Let the servants check it out and bring that piece of ore back for you."

Ye Shaohua recognized at a glance that it was not ordinary ore, but a natural meteoric iron.

Shen Jiran also noticed the natural meteoric iron and suddenly remembered that it was one of the items Ye Yanyu had listed.

He was determined to find a piece for Ye Yanyu.

"That’s right, Yanyu also lacks such a material, this piece..." Shen Jiran of course knew Ye Shaohua would not give it to Ye Yanyu; she surely intended to use the fine material to forge a divine weapon and make a name for herself.

Ye Shaohua glanced at him, "This weapon is of use to me. I will find another piece for my sister, but forging a divine weapon will require a search for more of this natural meteoric iron."

She was aware of why Shen Jiran had come here today. The original owner of her body had died in an unexplained manner, and of course, Ye Shaohua would not let Shen Jiran succeed.

Not only that, but she also wanted to make Shen Jiran realize how ridiculous his self-righteousness was.

As expected, Shen Jiran looked away, sneering inwardly, but his face remained calm, "What’s that over there?"

Ye Shaohua knew he was up to something, but pretended not to notice and looked in the direction he pointed, "Where?"

"It should be natural meteoric iron. Let’s check it out; the path is much smoother there," Shen Jiran said with a smile.

As the nanny instructed the servants to carefully tie up the chunk of black iron, seeing Ye Shaohua walk with Shen Jiran in another direction, she wasn’t worried.

Her uncle had told her that Shen Jiran was a very tough figure; with the Lady in his company, she would surely be safe.

Meanwhile, Shen Jiran walked with Ye Shaohua toward another mountain peak. Under their feet lay a steep slope, nearly a cliff.

Shen Jiran walked two steps behind Ye Shaohua, looking at the face that reminded him of her aunt, hesitating for a moment but then burying the thought quickly.

He had only seen Ye Shaohua once when they were children and there was really no emotional bond between them.

But it was different with Ye Yanyu; they had spent five years together, and because she had always been frail and stayed in Imperial City, he knew her well.

Images of a fragile Ye Yanyu appeared in his mind, and the words of the divine doctor, who had predicted that Ye Yanyu would not live past this year, echoed in his ears.

Especially since the divine doctor had said that Ye Shaohua might not necessarily die.

With these thoughts, Shen Jiran flicked a stone from his hand.

Just as he was about to strike Ye Shaohua’s leg with the stone, the rock under his feet suddenly gave way, and he began to fall.

Shen Jiran’s lightness skill was excellent, and under normal circumstances, he would have had no trouble. However, his mind was preoccupied with conflicting thoughts and hesitation, leaving him unable to react in time.

Amidst the shocked cries of the maids and servants not far away, he slid down toward the bottom of the mountain; Shen Jiran’s eyes hardened.

Looking around, he found that there was nothing he could grab onto, no vines within reach.

And just as he faced the abyss behind him, the young lady a few meters away startled, and without thinking, threw herself toward him.
