Chapter 894: King of Cars (17) Chapter 3

"No," the eldest brother replied, "Qingyi said Shaohua knows someone in the Education Bureau, so we should go back and find her."

The two sisters-in-law certainly didn’t believe Fang Qingyi’s words.

How could Shaohua, of all people, know someone from the Education Bureau?

To say that their aunt knew someone there would be more plausible. If Shaohua really knew her, why would she need her aunt to pull strings for her to get a job as a teacher at the school?

However, since the eldest brother and the others said they wanted to go back and take a look, the two sisters-in-law didn’t object.

"I’m telling you, when you go later, don’t give any money to your parents," the second sister-in-law cautioned her husband before they left, worried he wouldn’t listen.

They knew very well about Shaohua’s situation. Racing cars might burn money, but Shaohua hardly made any profit.

When they arrived at the entrance of the Ye Family’s building, they found quite a few people standing around talking.

After seeing the crowd, the eldest brother and his group exchanged glances before entering the group of onlookers to find out what had happened.

"A reporter just came and interviewed me," a neighbor recognized the eldest and second brothers among the four people, and looked at them with a probing gaze, "You don’t know yet? Shaohua won the championship, and the Shen Family directly allocated her some shares. They even signed a contract with Ye father and Ye mother."

"What’s the deal with the reporter?" The two sisters-in-law were completely stunned.

"Talking about it, it’s still your Shaohua who’s clever. The reporters said she was giving a lecture at Q University, and the translation has already spread abroad," the neighbor wasn’t clear on the details but didn’t hide her excitement, "The Ye Family is really in for good times now!"

The faces of the Ye Family’s eldest sister-in-law and the others were filled with confusion.

A reporter interviewed her? She got the championship, and the Shen Family gave her shares? They didn’t know how much money Shaohua had actually received, but they had heard of the Shen Family – the community they lived in was developed by them.

"Is... is this true?" the eldest sister-in-law finally snapped back to reality. She was reluctant to believe it, but seeing the neighbors enthusiastically discussing, she felt hesitant, "Shall we go up and take a look?"

The eldest sister-in-law discussed it with the second sister-in-law.

The second sister-in-law also wanted to know exactly what was going on and was just as incredulous. Could it really be such a coincidence that just after they had cut ties with Ye father and Ye mother, Shaohua had become the champion?

And the Shen Family was going to give her shares?

When they took the elevator upstairs and arrived at the floor, they stepped out, only then realizing there were several other households gathered in front of the Ye Family’s door.

Residents from both upstairs and downstairs.

At the moment, they were standing outside the Ye Family’s door chatting, and they saw the Ye Family’s eldest brother and second brother but didn’t acknowledge them.

Right then, the elevator dinged again.

They looked back instinctively, only to see Shaohua stepping out of the elevator, and the group of neighbors immediately approached her, "Shaohua, congratulations, you’ve weathered the storm at last!"

"Uncles, aunties." Shaohua had been helping the neighbors fix their computers when she had the time, and most of the neighbors had formed a new impression of her.

"Shaohua has really put our community on the map; even the housing prices have gone up. I used to persuade your parents to let you be a good teacher instead of racing cars, which is expensive and thankless. Now it seems that you young people are smart after all, considering you went to a prestigious university."

The resident living opposite the Ye Family heard these remarks and glanced at the neighbor upstairs. They hadn’t spoken like this before.

However, it made sense. Racing was indeed a money-burning affair, and for so many years of Shaohua’s involvement, they had not seen any income, only money flowing out swiftly.

But for those good at racing, a single underground race could earn them far more than a regular job, not to mention being signed by a major company and directly receiving shares.

"My son also likes racing. I scolded him just yesterday, but from now on, I’ve decided to let him learn racing seriously—who knows, maybe the Shen Family might come looking for me one day?"

As soon as this was said, everyone present laughed.

It was all in jest, of course. Everyone knew how difficult it was. They had even previously thought Ye father and Ye mother foolish for giving Shaohua money to squander.

Today, however, they were enlightened. Racing could indeed bring a twist of fortune.

The reporters had come in droves.

Some people managed to keep their composure, their reactions not particularly strong, while others were frankly envious to the point of insanity.

Shaohua spotted her dumbstruck brother and sisters-in-law standing by the door.

But she quickly averted her gaze, not looking at them, and went straight back into the house.

The eldest sister-in-law and the second sister-in-law finally snapped out of their stupor from the shocking news and followed Shaohua inside, almost reflexively.

A couple of neighbors stepped out of the door, each offering congratulations to Ye father and Ye mother.

The eldest sister-in-law and the second sister-in-law had originally thought things might not be as they had assumed. Now, hearing these people’s words, they couldn’t feel any joy, only a profound sense of bewilderment.

This wasn’t right. When they lived there, things were fine. They earned a bit more than they lost, and they didn’t make a fuss over it.

But then, losing to a newcomer was one thing; her having to pay the club two hundred thousand taels truly upset the sisters-in-law.

They had decided to detach themselves from their husbands and in-laws over this.

But who could have imagined that things would turn out this way?

However, the sisters-in-law had thick skins and quickly squeezed through to the front. When they stood by the door, they saw the Ye Family’s newly decorated home and were stunned once again.

When did the house become so beautiful?

Even the carpet on the floor was clearly not cheap, and they could glimpse a gym through the door—a stark contrast to before.

Envy glinted in the eyes of both the eldest sister-in-law and the second sister-in-law.

"Dad, Mom, little sister!" The eldest sister-in-law saw Ye mother and Ye father talking to someone and immediately put on a smiling face as she went in, touching the furnishings on one side and examining the carpet on the other.

"What are you doing here?" The color drained from Ye mother’s face when she saw them.

At that remark, her sons fell silent, not sure what to say. The eldest sister-in-law’s face darkened, "We are Shaohua’s sisters-in-law too, how can we not come over? Now that little sister has struck it rich and become a big shot, does she look down on us poor relatives?"
