Chapter 768: Army King 758 (3) Chapter 1
Wu Jiayong finished speaking and glanced at Ye Shaohua before continuing, "Let’s move out."
Lang Zongyuan didn’t have much of an understanding of Ye Shaohua before.
After listening to Wu Jiayong’s words, he looked at Ye Shaohua expressionlessly, made no comment, and didn’t say anything to Ye Shaohua either.
Their team consisted of seven people in total; aside from Wu Jiayong and Lang Zongyuan, there were four others, one of whom was Lin Lan, responsible for decoding High-tech and weapons.
Another was the fiery sniper, Bu Yong, who had sarcastically criticized Ye Shaohua from the very start.
There were also two other infantry gunmen.
In truth, the overall ability of this team was not very strong; compared to Wu Jiayong and Lang Zongyuan, they were far from their level, which is why the other four always followed Wu Jiayong’s lead.
After she spoke, the seven members of the team promptly packed up their military backpacks and began to move forward.
Wu Jiayong and Lang Zongyuan scouted ahead, with the other four following behind them.
And Ye Shaohua walked alone at the very back.
Compared to the other six, the original host had been physically weaker and less agile than Wu Jiayong; thus, at the beginning, the original host couldn’t keep up and accidentally stepped into a trap.
Although she was still in the same body now, with Ye Shaohua’s experience, she was sure to follow them in the most energy-efficient way possible.
The other six had thought Ye Shaohua would fall behind again this time.
After walking for four hours, Lin Lan thought of Ye Shaohua, "Are we going too fast?"
As he said this, he looked back.
Bu Yong scoffed, "If she can’t even keep up with this pace, what is she doing being a soldier?"
That said, Bu Yong also glanced back.
He was somewhat surprised by what he saw.
Ye Shaohua was following them, neither too far nor too close, at a distance of five meters, holding a nearly empty military backpack.
"Ye Shaohua, where’s your stuff?" Lin Lan asked her.
"I tossed it," Ye Shaohua said indifferently.
She didn’t need those clothes and blankets; they hindered movement and were too conspicuous, so she simply threw them into System Space.
Hearing her response, Lin Lan wasn’t interested in dealing with her any further and said nothing as he continued forward.
Bu Yong looked at her mockingly, "Young Lady, if you can’t cut it, don’t join the army. At night, no one’s going to share their stuff with you."
Ye Shaohua said nothing.
She had been through even more grueling training conditions than this; here, at least, there were lighters and military knives. With those two items, she had enough to survive in the jungle. The rest was truly just a burden to her.
It seemed Bu Yong and the others hadn’t gone through extreme training that involved surviving in the wild without supplies, which is why they had chosen to bring so many things.
Lang Zongyuan and Wu Jiayong walked fast, and Ye Shaohua didn’t hold them back anymore.
Late at night, around 9 o’clock, they finally reached the first line of defense.
"What is this? Can you tell?" Wu Jiayong stood beside a small pit, clearly seeing a small, cone-shaped object flashing with red light—the kind of new weapon Wu Jiayong and the others had never seen from the enemy before.
Lin Lan pulled out his compact computer and a bunch of components from his bag, sat down beside the cone flashing with red light, turned on his computer, and entered a series of commands.
"This weapon is complex, likely one of those we’ve been collecting intel on. Don’t touch it," he cautioned, not opting to dismantle it.
Every country has advanced detection devices, small weapons, detectors, and even bombs.
Just from its exterior, Lin Lan could deduce that this object might be a sensor, but he couldn’t rule out a bomb.
This flawlessly designed object—when had it appeared?
Lin Lan’s expression was grave.
Seeing Lin Lan like this, both Wu Jiayong and Lang Zongyuan looked solemn. They watched Lin Lan analyze the weapon while remaining vigilant for any sudden attacks.
All six people on the scene were highly focused.
Only one person had put down their backpack on the ground, resting their head on one hand and nibbling on a wild fruit picked from who-knows-where, casually glancing at Lin Lan’s compact computer.
That person’s expression was utterly relaxed.
Lang Zongyuan’s brows were deeply furrowed; he looked intently at Ye Shaohua, who seemed unconcerned about anything, and had to admit that perhaps he had indeed misjudged Ye Shaohua before.
Even in such a situation, Wu Jiayong was extremely alert and dared not let her guard down.
Those who have gone through special forces training know that during a mission, one misstep could lead to failure.
Yet here was Ye Shaohua, seemingly carefree and without any sense of vigilance, making Lang Zongyuan suddenly understand why Ye Shaohua was just an ordinary infantryman, while Wu Jiayong was a member of the Thunderbolt Special Forces Team.
"Infrared, probably a detection sensor," Wu Jiayong had never seen such a weapon, but she had read the novel, which contained clear descriptions of various weapons. She remembered not much but had a rough idea, "Lang Zongyuan, be careful, there are quite a few of these things around. If the infrared catches us, our movements could be discovered by the enemy."
Hearing Wu Jiayong’s description, everyone instinctively took a step back.
Lin Lan looked at Wu Jiayong in surprise, "Team Wu, you know about this too? It should be what you described. I’m wondering if there’s a way to shut it down and take it back for study."
This made the others look at Wu Jiayong with even greater respect.
Only Ye Shaohua remained still.
She simply looked at Wu Jiayong, continued eating the wild fruit without any expression, and thought to herself that the Tropical Forest had everything one could desire; it was just that she was surrounded by a team that wasn’t very capable, preventing her from catching a boar to make pork chops.
As these thoughts crossed her mind, she tossed the fruit core away.
Lang Zongyuan, upon hearing Lin Lan’s confirmation, couldn’t help but take another good look at Wu Jiayong, growing increasingly curious about her. In reality, he didn’t need to take on such a mission.
He was simply curious about this suddenly famous Wu Jiayong.
The more he observed her, the more he felt she was no ordinary person, which piqued his intense interest. The difference between her and Ye Shaohua, with whom he had grown up and who, until now, did nothing but encumber the team, was like night and day.
