Chapter 598: Legend of the 589 Military Camp (3) 2 more updates
Ye Shaohua squinted her eyes, looking toward the direction twenty meters away.
Su Jin tried out the firearms, and the six people around her, including Coach He, watched her challenge the round with great seriousness.
Her steps never faltered; she walked straight forward without hesitation. She had never seen Su Jin in action before, and now she really wanted to see just how formidable this Special Forces soldier, formerly ranked tenth in the international training camp, actually was to make Chen Xue, Lu Jing, and others so wary of her.
Chen Xue and Lu Jing exchanged glances—they had also seen Su Jin’s group and were unsure whether to go over.
The rule for these rounds was whoever found the challenge first got to attempt it first.
If the first team to find it achieved a Level 3 completion, they would receive gold, silver, and bronze tokens; any team that arrived later, even if they passed, wouldn’t get any tokens.
If they achieved a Level 1 completion, they would receive a bronze token; later teams could only obtain silver and gold tokens if they reached Level 2 or higher and wouldn’t get the bronze token.
If they failed to pass the round, they wouldn’t get any tokens at all; later teams would receive tokens as long as they passed the round.
Therefore, finding the rounds also involved luck. If a squad found a round that no one had attempted before, their chances of obtaining tokens could be as high as 70%.
If they found a round that others had already attempted, their chances of getting tokens would be only about 20%.
And if they encountered a very powerful team, any team that came later would simply leave without spending even a second on that round.
So, seeing that it was Su Jin’s team taking on the challenge, Chen Xue and Lu Jing hesitated; in fact, they really didn’t want to go over.
They knew their combined ability was far inferior to Su Xue’s group. Even if there were tokens left after Su Xue’s team had their turn, they would not be able to get them since a powerful team like Su Xue’s couldn’t get them—there was almost no chance for them.
Chen Xue saw another team had also found this round on the left side.
It was someone they knew—Wang Jinfeng, the squad leader from Class 2.
"Damn it!" Wang Jinfeng glowered, "To think the first to find the round would be Su Jin. I thought we were fast enough. That’s Coach He’s round, which I assume involves firearms in real combat. Su Jin is a sharpshooter. Nevermind, let’s go find the next round!"
After thinking it over, Wang Jinfeng decided not to wait for Su Jin’s group to finish before entering the round.
As a well-known sharpshooter in the team, if Su Jin couldn’t achieve a high completion level, then their chances were even slimmer.
That team came and then left.
Chen Xue and Lu Jing looked at each other again, saw Ye Shaohua heading toward the round, and quickly caught up to her, calling out, "Boss, let’s not go there, shall we? Let’s go find another round."
"Why?" Ye Shaohua didn’t stop and glanced at him.
"It’s a waste of time. Su Jin has many people, and it’s Coach He’s round, we..."
Ye Shaohua understood his point and chuckled, "Let’s see, what if we’re lucky?"
Her certainty made Su Jin and Chen Xue pause for a moment; in the end, they resigned themselves to follow along.
"It’s no use, the three of us can’t get through many rounds anyway. We’re going to be the last ones either way; it’s just a matter of the data looking good or not," Chen Xue finally gave up, "Let’s just join the crowd for the fun of it."
The two of them followed Ye Shaohua forward.
Su Jin and the others were ready to enter the round; they had arrived just three minutes earlier.
Seeing Ye Shaohua’s trio, Su Jin immediately shifted her gaze away.
Of course, it wasn’t because she was afraid, she simply felt—
These three were not her match, not worth her attention at the moment.
Her real rivals were those in the international training camp; as for this selection competition, Su Jin hadn’t really taken it seriously.
"Do you see it? There are gun ports on all the surrounding walls, and each of the seven of you has a rifle. The ports will fire rubber bullets at high speed, and you must dodge without getting hit. At the same time, there are 30 targets on the walls. While dodging rubber bullets, you must shoot the targets and hit the bullseye. Hit ten bullseyes, and you achieve Level 1; hit twenty, Level 2; hit all thirty, Level 3. During this time, if you get hit, you’re immediately eliminated, with no chance to continue until the last person is out!"
"Is it this hard this year?!" Long Fei from Su Jin’s team exclaimed, "We won’t even be able to achieve Level 1 at this intensity!"
They had inquired beforehand, and in previous years, each person had three chances of getting hit.
Even Su Jin hadn’t expected a domestic minor selection competition to be this challenging.
"It’s the boss’s decision, let’s start," Coach He said plainly.
As he spoke, Coach He pressed the switch.
The gun ports fired 2 bullets per second in different directions; with thirty gun ports in total, that meant sixty bullets firing every second. Dodging bullets in such a small space was challenging enough, let alone having to shoot the targets on the wall.
The difficulty level seemed much higher this year.
Long Fei and others from Su Jin’s team felt a bitter sense of trepidation, especially with only seven of them in the group.
It wasn’t long before Long Fei was out.
He managed to fire a shot before being eliminated, but he missed the bullseye.
The others were also gradually knocked out. However, three of them got lucky; they hit the bullseye of three targets with their last shots before elimination.
In the midst of gunfire and flying bullets, Su Jin maneuvered quickly, holding a rifle in her hands.
Shooting was her forte, but aiming at targets while dodging was extremely difficult. She had to keep an eye on the direction of the gun ports while firing.
"Bang, bang, bang—"
"Hit by a rubber bullet, eliminated!" After saying this, Coach He turned off the switch.
He began to check the targets on the wall and was somewhat surprised as he looked over at Su Jin, "Hit eleven targets, Level 1 completion, not bad. I thought no one would complete the first round."
Coach He gave Su Jin the bronze token, and for once, the usually cold and aloof Coach He said an extra word to her, "You’re Su Jin, right? I look forward to seeing you at the international training camp."
Long Fei and the others looked at Su Jin with adoration, "Eight targets, Su Jin, I always knew you were formidable, but to be this skilled...!"
Su Jin smiled, "That’s because previously, no one could make me utilize all my abilities."
She still had many strengths that she hadn’t shown.
Su Jin’s statement was quite arrogant, but Long Fei and the others didn’t disbelieve. Instead, they admired her even more, and then Su Jin led them towards the next round.
When passing by Ye Shaohua and the other two, Long Fei and his companions only glanced at them and smiled without any taunting or mockery. After all, now that Su Jin was so strong, these three weaker opponents hardly caught their eye.
Su Jin’s group quickly left.
Coach He was using the communicator, reporting that the first round had been completed by someone.
One could imagine how difficult this challenge was, yet for a mere Level 1 completion, Coach He took it very seriously.
"Really strong," Lu Jing let out a slow breath, finally coming to his senses, "Let’s go, we’ll find the next round."
Just then, a lazy voice rang out, "Coach He, we want to take on the round."
