Chapter 1145: Strategy
In addition to the God of Lionfolk, a Rank Five deer-headed beast god from the Cervus Tribe had also arrived on the battlefield.
The Cervus Tribe’s beast gods were quite different from the Lionfolk God, who fought with a golden sword and charged into battle with fearless aggression.
The deer-headed god wielded a cabasa, and his war songs conjured halos that strengthened the nearby beast gods and the massive half-beastman legions.
He was a Rank Five shaman priest—and also the father of Senarius, the God of Forest.
The moment he set foot on the battlefield, the deer-headed beast god flew straight to Senarius’ side.
Thanks to the Drunken Panda Immortal’s interception, the God of Forest had not fallen. But still, he was severely injured.
A vibrant green light glowed from deep within Senarius’ body.
Even though he had mastered many healing divine powers, the wounds this Rank Four elven god had suffered could not be mended in a short time.
Compared to Senarius, the Drunken Panda Immortal was in slightly better shape.
Although each of his three panda forms had taken considerable damage, once they merged back into one, the Drunken Panda Immortal’s injuries did not stack.
It was said that this special skill allowed the Drunken Panda Immortal to survive even if two of his three clones were destroyed—as long as one remained, he would not completely fall.
Of course, if that happened, it would cause serious damage to his life essence and the foundation of his laws, so it was best not to push things that far.
Still, it was an incredibly rare and remarkable ability!
The civilization where he had learned these techniques was just as fascinating.
When the deer-headed beast god reached Senarius and used the cabasa to strengthen him and speed up his recovery, Senarius raised a hand to stop him.
“No, Father. Go help Eugene!” Senarius said firmly to the beast god before him.
Aside from the Lionfolk God, the Jackal God, Tourmaline, and the Drunken Panda Immortal were all positioned not far from Senarius on the battlefield.
The two Rank Five Phantom Crows—one barely clinging to life and the other frantically fleeing—no longer posed any real threat to Senarius.
By contrast, the half-beastman army remained in a desperate and precarious situation.
With the sudden arrival of so many beast gods and the crushing strike from the God of Beastmen just moments earlier, the native Rank Five creature of Bouldrak World was now caught in a desperate struggle for survival.
And enemies like that were often the most dangerous to face.
The God of Half-Beastmen, Eugene, with his successful ascent to godhood, now held an unshakable position within Beastmen World.
The other beast gods had been forced to acknowledge his rank and status, but that did not mean they accepted him.
Most of the beast gods, who had just joined the Bouldrak World battlefield, had gone to assist Reksha, Tourmaline, and the Drunken Panda Immortal.
Only one Rank Four Skunk God, Gazza, went to help Eugene.
That alone spoke volumes about how strained Eugene’s standing was among the gods.
When Senarius made his plea, the deer-headed beast god looked down at his son for a long moment. Then, with a heavy nod, he turned and flew toward the battlefield where Eugene fought.
By this point, with the arrival of so many beast gods and beastmen legions, the outcome of the war was all but decided.
And just as the deer-headed beast god soared toward Eugene’s side, Sein’s forbidden spell was finally completed—a rain of fire and massive meteor descended from the sky over one corner of the battlefield.
The chaos and fighting across Bouldrak World had now reached their absolute peak!
***
While the battle in Bouldrak World raged on, far away in Beastmen World, a Rank Four knight appeared in the God of Beastmen’s shrine.
That interplanar strike Kampas had unleashed earlier had taken its toll.
The fine layer of hair on his palms had been scorched away.
Of course, it was not the Rank Six Phantom Crow King that had done it—the creature did not have anywhere near that level of power or nerve.
As a low-level plane, Bouldrak World’s planar laws were extremely tight, and forcing even a hand through meant fighting against their resistance.
On the flip side, that same strictness in Bouldrak World’s laws had kept Bouldrak World from falling apart.
Had it been a weaker plane with more relaxed laws, Kampas’ strike alone could have thrown the laws into chaos and pushed the plane toward collapse.
And yet, even with a hole punched straight through the sky, Bouldrak World still held its ground, letting Rank Five beings tear across its battlefields without signs of breaking or crumbling.
A geo elemental plane was indeed impressive.
“This war in Bouldrak World has caused you no small amount of trouble,” the Rank Four knight said politely as he entered the grand hall. “My grandfather wanted to meet with you in person, but he’s still adjusting to his new condition.”
This Rank Four knight was Mayne of the Western Archipelago, the same knight who had arranged for Sein and the others to travel to Beastmen World free of charge.
Clad in black armor, Mayne carried himself with a familiarity that hinted at old ties with this powerful overlord.
Of course, it was not Mayne himself who truly knew Kampas, but his grandfather.
Kampas looked a bit drained at the moment, but when Mayne approached, he straightened ever so slightly.
By now, the other beast gods in the hall had respectfully withdrawn.
What was coming next was not a conversation meant for ordinary ears.
After watching everyone leave, the God of Beastmen smiled and said, “Give your grandfather my congratulations on his successful promotion to an overlord.”
“With his breakthrough, our Magus Alliance gains one more pillar of certainty in the coming war against the Gallant Federation. And after all, we’ve been allies for hundreds of thousands of years,” Kampas added with a hint of warmth.
When it came to wars between top-tier civilizations, only overlords at Rank Seven or above could truly influence the course of battle.
Regardless, the Magus Civilization gaining another overlord-level powerhouse before the conflict began was an undeniable advantage.
Mayne politely acknowledged Kampas’ words, then smoothly shifted the conversation to another matter.
“My grandfather believes that with the coming war against the Gallant Federation, our Magus Civilization should ease up on displaying too much aggression toward neighboring civilizations, especially those planar worlds we haven’t yet invaded or conquered.
“Over the last hundred thousand years, we’ve been expanding aggressively. Even civilizations that have never come into direct contact with us have heard of our reputation, and frankly, it hasn’t left them with the best impression. Grandfather feels that this is not good for the Magus Civilization’s long-term development.
“Since we still don’t have a clear timeline on when the full-scale war with the Gallant Federation will break out, the Magus Civilization has been in a state of strategic restraint for nearly the past millennium. If we can avoid it, it’s best not to provoke or clash with other civilizations, even if they’re far weaker than us,” Mayne said smoothly, his words measured but clear.
Kampas stroked his chin thoughtfully. “And what is your grandfather suggesting...?”
“Rather than conquering an entire star domain by brute force, we could explore other ways of bringing them into line—or even persuading them to join us willingly.
“The star domain where you just displayed your divine power lies outside the Neisse Star Domain, in a medium-sized region even further from our Magus Civilization. There are hundreds of plane worlds there, and they’ve formed some loose alliances. We’ve actually been in some contact with them already.
“Of course, Bouldrak World and its vassal microplanes remain under your command. But for the other planes in that star domain, my grandfather intends to use other methods to bring them into submission,” Mayne explained respectfully.
At the end, the Rank Four knight added, “We’ve already received Lady Bev’s approval on this matter.”
Kampas rubbed his chin again, eyeing Mayne for a moment before finally giving a nod.
