Chapter 1140: Legion of Phantom Crows

Although it was the Drunken Panda Immortal whom Eugene had called to check out the situation, it was the God of Forest, Senarius, who arrived first near the pitch-black vortex.

Senarius had been quite badly injured in the previous battle.

Eugene had wanted him to retreat and recover, but Senarius refused. As he watched more and more half-beastmen fall, he grew just as anxious as Eugene.

He was ready to give everything he had for the half-beastman clan.

The half-human, half-deer walked steadily through the air. In his hand, he held a long, emerald green staff.

The faint umbra and necromantic energy leaking from the vortex filled him with deep unease.

As an elven god, Senarius was naturally attuned to nature—all things green and alive.

A blast of verdant energy surged from his staff, aimed directly at the swirling black vortex.

But before it could reach the core, the beam slowly dissolved into nothingness.

The sound of wings flapping came from deep within the vortex.

Senarius narrowed his eyes.

A raucous, shrill laughter echoed out.

“This teleportation channel that I built with half a million high-quality soul sacrifices is not something a tiny creature like you can erase so easily!”

The voice of the Phantom Crow King thundered from the black vortex and reverberated through the surrounding cosmos.

“My, my, the scent of this world is intoxicating. I can practically smell the tasty aroma of souls. It looks like the war is a lot more intense than I expected. This makes an excellent feeding ground for us, the Phantom Crows!” it cackled.

Hearing that voice, not only did Sein and the half-beastman legion in Bouldrak World freeze, but even certain beings far away in Beastmen World and Magus World were stunned.

The Phantom Crow King continued its rambling before issuing an order to its underlings on the other side of the vortex.

“You two, lead the children over first and clear out the pests in the way. I smell an especially tasty soul. Bring her to me—or I’ll go over and check it out myself later.”

At its command, murders of jet-black crows tore through the dark mist and descended upon Bouldrak World.

These densely packed birds had small, blood-red eyes and strange markings on their bodies. Black and gray flames burned at the ends of their feathers.

At first glance, they resembled Sein’s Ashen Flame.

But the flames these Phantom Crows carried lacked the sheer destructive power of Sein’s.

In terms of properties, they were closer to Leena’s Cinderbone Flame, steeped in umbra and necromantic energy, with an added effect on the soul.

A pair of shrill screeches rang out, echoing through the sky, and then two Phantom Crows—one gray and one black—emerged from the vortex.

Unlike the average Phantom Crows, which ranged from half a meter to a few meters in size, these two were massive, with wingspans over three hundred meters.

They were Rank Five creatures that radiated overwhelming force!

For such powerful entities to cross over into Bouldrak World so quickly, they must have received support—possibly from the Bouldraks, or even the guardian manipulating the planar laws in their favor.

As for the Phantom Crow King, who was even more powerful, descending into Bouldrak World with its Rank Six life level was no easy feat.

That was why it had not yet appeared—it was still forcing its way through.

The arrival of the Phantom Crow Army was a nightmare for the half-beastman legion fighting in Bouldrak World.

They were already overwhelmed—suffering heavy losses in their brutal struggle against the native army of geo elemental creatures.

And now, another force had entered the fray, and these Phantom Crows were a handpicked, elite force.

How could the half-beastmen, already battered and exhausted, possibly hold them back?!

With their soul-devouring tendencies, the Phantom Crows wasted no time unleashing a storm of blood across the battlefield.

The Phantom Crow King was right about one thing: their descent into Bouldrak World indeed drastically eased the war pressure on the Bouldraks’ side.

A few geo elemental creatures were caught in the chaos and injured by the Phantom Crows, but those were minor wounds, nothing compared to the devastation suffered by the half-beastmen in mere moments!

Sein was positioned near the center-rear of the main battlefield.

But within moments, a massive murder of Phantom Crows swept over the half-beastman legions, pushing right up to where Sein and the others were.

Countless half-beastman warriors fell helplessly under the sudden onslaught.

Other than devouring souls and flesh, these Phantom Crows also had remarkable control over necromantic energy.

From the bones of the fallen, over a hundred thousand undead rose, swearing allegiance to the Phantom Crows’ banner.

No wonder the Phantom Crows were considered the most evil and aggressive civilization in the surrounding star domain.

By raising armies of undead to fight for them, they compensated for their naturally frail bodies with endless waves of expendable cannon fodder.

Leading the charge toward Sein and the others was a formidable Phantom Crow cloaked in pitch-black feathers—unmistakably a Rank Five creature!

It was not here for Sein, though. Its true target was Tourmaline.

To creatures that fed on souls, her vivid and unique essence was an irresistible prize.

This Rank Five Phantom Crow did not dare go against the orders of its king, but stealing a bite mid-battle was another matter. That much was allowed.

It swept forward in a storm of crows and necromantic energy, only to find Tourmaline already waiting—head high, unflinching.

Running away was never in Tourmaline’s dictionary. Besides, she had already taken a deep dislike to these crows.

The green arm ribbons she wore had grown tens of thousands of times in size, wide enough to blot out the sky. They wrapped around her legs and floated above her dragon horns.

Two streams of white vapor shot out from her nostrils.

Even though the creature in front of her had a higher life level, Tourmaline showed no fear—only burning battle intent.

When the Phantom Crow was still far away, it had only picked up on the delicious scent of her soul.

But now that it was close, its blood-red eyes drifted toward the two massive damask ribbons floating around her.

Then it noticed her massive size and enormous dragon claws.

The crow’s life level might have been higher, but it was barely the size of Tourmaline’s dragon head.

Among Rank Four and Rank Five creatures, only very few could match her true size.
