Chapter 1138: Phantom Crow World

The Phantom Crow King was an extremely greedy and bloodthirsty existence in the surrounding star domains.

The Phantom Crow World it ruled over was incredibly far from Bouldrak World. In fact, it was in another medium-sized star domain.

Its insatiable hunger for souls and constant need to feed kept Phantom Crow World in a permanent state of expansion.

They were not as closed-off and old-fashioned as Bouldrak World, nor did they possess the more peaceful tendencies of Eternal Sand World or Submerged Wave World.

The interplanar wars that the Bouldrak King had participated in before had been at the invitation of the Sea Emperor Shark, who had called on foreign aid to defend Submerged Wave World from the Phantom Crows.

The Rank Five Bouldrak King had performed admirably during that war, thanks to its exceptional defensive capabilities.

It had even fought the Phantom Crow King for a short time and managed to claim a few of its feathers as trophies by the war’s end.

The black feather that Bouldrak King had just ignited was one of those trophies, which was why it could now open communication with the crow.

The Phantom Crow King’s failure to conquer Submerged Wave World had left it seething with rage for the past twenty thousand years.

It had sworn more than once to make every foreign powerhouse who had aided Submerged Wave World pay dearly.

The Phantom Crow King believed it could have easily conquered Submerged Wave World if the Sea Emperor Shark had not rallied so many otherworldly Rank Four and higher beings.

Of course, that was just its opinion.

This undeniably strong Rank Six creature had always been arrogant, often making bold promises such as “teaching Bouldrak Plane a lesson”.

Yet more than twenty thousand years had passed, and Bouldrak King had seen no sign of this so-called revenge.

The truth was simple: Phantom Crow World was too far from Bouldrak World, and the creatures of Bouldrak Plane were known for their stubborn defense.

No matter how loudly the Phantom Crow King boasted, there was little it could actually do across the vast starry gulf.

The fact that Bouldrak King had taken the initiative to reach out this time genuinely caught the Phantom Crow King off guard.

Geo elemental creatures were not known for playing games, and the Bouldrak King got straight to the point, bluntly explaining the situation and its purpose for contacting the Phantom Crows.

Upon hearing that Bouldrak World was under invasion, the Phantom Crow King cawed in delight.

But the moment the Bouldrak King requested its help, that wild laughter came to an abrupt halt.

The Phantom Crow King’s small, blood-red eyes gleamed coldly from within the swirling black smoke.

“Why not ask the Sea Emperor Shark?” it croaked, voice dripping with mockery.

“I still remember how it united all the neighboring planes to stand against the great Phantom Crows,” it added, chuckling sinisterly.

“The Sea Emperor Shark refused my plea for help. It went back on the sacred oath of alliance it once swore to the Bouldraks!" the Bouldrak King replied gloomily.

It was clear that the Bouldrak King’s upset.

Judging from the situation, the Sea Emperor Shark had indeed failed to honor its promise back then.

When Bouldrak World needed help most, Submerged Wave World chose to remain indifferent.

Or rather, it showed that Submerged Wave World had probably also heard whispers of the Magus Civilization or Beastmen World.

Helping Bouldrak World was one thing; throwing their own civilization into ruin was another.

After hearing Bouldrak King’s indignant reply, the Phantom Crow King cawed even louder in delight.

It shamelessly mocked the Sea Emperor Shark as a hypocrite, claiming it would be better to put trust in the great Phantom Crows instead.

The Phantom Crow King also did not forget to ask, “By the way, who is invading you?”

Of course, the Bouldrak King knew better than to reveal it was Magus World or Beastmen World behind the invasion. It simply answered that the invaders were a race called the half-beastmen.

“Half-beastmen? Never heard of them,” the Phantom Crow King said, shaking its head.

The star domain where Phantom Crow World was located was even farther away than Bouldrak World’s region.

Naturally, the Phantom Crow King had never heard of the half-beastmen, and it certainly did not suspect anything unusual.

The arrogant Phantom Crow King, who rarely met an equal in the surrounding star domain, could not even imagine that this battlefield might be a trap.

When the Bouldrak King explained that it needed their help and was willing to pay for it, the Phantom Crow King’s blood-red eyes gleamed with greed.

After a brief moment of silence, it said, “One microplane isn’t enough. We want two!”

“On top of that, you’ll have to completely release the planar suppression effect. I don’t want my children stepping into Bouldrak Plane and fighting under suppression,” the Phantom Crow King added.

The Bouldrak King did not immediately agree. Instead, it bargained with the Phantom Crow King.

After suffering the cold indifference of the Eternal Sand Lord and Submerged Wave World, this Rank Five geo elemental had matured quickly, especially when it came to dealing with others.

Normally, geo elemental creatures were known for being simple and straightforward, but the Bouldrak King had started learning how to scheme and play the game of negotiation.

And truth be told, it was doing quite well!

Had it agreed to the Phantom Crow King's demands right away, it would have risked raising the other party’s suspicions.

When a creature that had never lied finally decided to play tricks, it could dig a pit deeper than any schemer.

And today, the Phantom Crow King, far away in another star domain, was falling straight into that trap.

Geo elemental creatures were never known for their silver tongues, but somehow Bouldrak King managed to play its hand perfectly.

The Phantom Crow King, eager to press the advantage, haggled even harder, demanding that the Bouldrak King not only open an interplanar teleportation gate directly inside Bouldrak Plane, but also establish teleportation links in the other two microplane battlefields so the Phantom Crows could deploy their forces there.

Naturally, Bouldrak Plane was expected to cover the full operation costs for these teleportations.

As an elemental plane, Bouldrak World was rich in energy crystals and rare ores, which made the payment feasible.

At one point during the negotiations, the Bouldrak King even left briefly.

The half-beastman army’s offensive had clearly intensified. When the Bouldrak King returned, it anxiously urged Phantom Crow King to send reinforcements as soon as possible.

“Don’t worry! We, the Phantom Crows, would never sit back and watch our friends suffer and die!” the Phantom Crow King cawed gleefully.

After ending the communication, the Phantom Crow King flapped its dark wings excitedly and let out a shrill caw.

It began summoning every Rank Four and above Phantom Crow in its world.

Phantom Crow World was technically a medium-sized plane, but it ranked near the bottom in terms of actual strength.

The world had only one Rank Six creature—the Phantom Crow King itself—and around thirty Rank Four or higher Phantom Crows.

This was not even close to the numbers once boasted by Wild Gorilla World, a plane that had already been destroyed long ago.

Still, the Phantom Crow World’s special star domain environment and remote location meant it had no real natural enemies.

The few nearby low-level planes had all been conquered or wiped out by them long ago.

To the Phantom Crow King, the war raging on Bouldrak World right now looked like an opportunity handed down by fate.
