Chapter 1118: The King of Kameron
In every world, guardians were chosen from those who love their homeplane with all their heart.
Of course, not everyone who loved their world could become a guardian—power still mattered.
In some planes, guardianship could even be determined or influenced by external forces.
Most of the time, a plane had only one guardian. But in special cases, there could be two or more.
Magus World was one of those rare exceptions—it had four guardians!
The passion Azelia showed for her homeland seemed to stir a faint response from the will of Beastmen World. That was why Tourmaline made the comment she did.
Tourmaline came from a family that had long assisted in regulating Magus World’s internal laws, and because of that, most of her kin were heavily favored by the will of the plane.
Sein carried a sliver of planar light within his body, so technically, he also received some attention from Magus World’s will.
But compared to Tourmaline, his presence barely registered. If she had 100% of the planar will’s attention, Sein probably had just 1%.
As for the fox maiden, she was only receiving a flicker of attention from the will of Beastmen World—maybe just 0.1%.
After all, she had barely contributed to this world. It was only the sincerity in her song that stirred the planar will, just slightly.
Tourmaline’s observation made Sein’s eyes flicker with interest.
The fact that Azelia had caught even the slightest notice from the will of Beastmen World was a good thing.
Seeing it happen with his own eyes made Sein think back to the time when the Goddess of Luck, Tyvera, had blessed Azelia.
Occult arts were certainly mysterious and unique...

Kameron Kingdom was tiny, so it did not take long for word to spread about the commotion Azelia, a Rank Two War Priest, caused on her way through.
By the time Sein and the others reached the capital, tens of thousands of beastmen had joined them in a pilgrimage-like procession.
Receiving the blessing of a War Priest was a rare honor—something many beastmen would not get to experience in their entire lives.
Despite its status as a small kingdom, the king of Kameron Kingdom was a Rank Two bearfolk warrior.
The kingdom had no War Priests of its own—only three Rank One Soul Priests and a few dozen Wind Whisperers below Rank One.
These priests handled most of the shrine affairs and spiritual duties across Kameron.
Unlike Magus World, where high-ranking knights and mages rarely bothered with worldly affairs, kings and leaders of major shrines in Beastmen World were often the strongest warriors and most respected priests in their kingdoms.
The current ruler of Kameron Kingdom, a Rank Two bearfolk named Vayril, was no exception—its dark, glossy fur was covered in battle scars.
In Beastmen culture, those scars were badges of pride.
Vayril was a seasoned warrior who had fought in three interplanar wars before ascending the throne.
“This guy’s not quite the same as those bearfolk warriors we saw back at the teleportation array,” Sein said to Leena as he rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
King Vayril was a black bearfolk, while those clad in copper armor they saw earlier were brown bearfolk.
The Byre Bearfolk, one of the largest bearfolk races in Beastmen World, had many subraces.
And not all Byre Bearfolk were burly warriors—the Koala Bearfolk and Raccoon Bearfolk were smaller and not as physically dominant[1].
As for the three priests of Kameron Kingdom, they were all ostrichfolk.
Kameron Kingdom worshipped a rather interesting-looking deity—a special beast god with brilliant, flaming-red feathers known as the “Flamingo God”.
A towering metal statue of this god, standing hundreds of meters tall, could be seen standing in the capital.
This deity was not only worshipped throughout Kameron Kingdom but also in several neighboring beastmen kingdoms.
In fact, the main shrine of this beast god was located in another major beastman nation with a population in the hundreds of millions.
Kameron Kingdom was just one of that nation’s vassal states.
Understanding Kameron’s situation and history was part of Sein’s process of getting to know the Beastmen World and its native inhabitants.
Tourmaline’s aura was impossible for low-ranking beastmen to detect. However, Magus World mages, like Sein and Leena, were instantly recognized by King Vayril.
The king had survived multiple interplanar wars and successfully advanced to Rank Two. It was no reckless brute.
It treated Sein and Leena with great respect.
When the two Magus World mages asked for a few biological samples, King Vayril simply waved a hand and agreed without hesitation.
Kameron Kingdom prison held prisoners of many different races, and the esteemed mages were invited to pick whichever ones they liked.
If Sein had not been traveling with a female companion, King Vayril might have even offered him a few beastwomen to warm his bed.
Rank One and above beastwomen were rare in the entire kingdom, but there were certainly enough ordinary beastwomen below Rank One to spare.
Vayril’s generosity did not go unrewarded.
After drawing a blood sample from the king, Sein gave him three recovery potions.
Magus World potions were highly sought after across the entire Magus Alliance.
As products of a top-tier civilization, they were far more effective than anything brewed by the priests or witch doctors of Beastmen World.
Though King Vayril had a few magicoins on hand, it was nowhere near enough to afford potions like these.
That was why Magus World knights and mages were always welcomed so warmly whenever they visited other planes.
To the native races of the allied planes, they were not just powerful—they were filthy rich.
Even the smallest gift from one of these visiting elites could excite the common folk in lesser planes.
Tourmaline let out a small gasp and covered her mouth as she watched Sein draw the king’s blood.
“Doesn’t that hurt?” she asked.
“Hurt? This is nothing compared to the worst injury I’ve ever had. My neck was nearly cut in half,” King Vayril replied with a grin.
Clearly, it had no idea that the little girl in front of it was actually a terrifying Rank Four being.
With Tourmaline’s human form barely reaching the king’s knee, the towering bearfolk pulled down its collar and proudly pointed at a massive scar across its neck.
The scar ran from the center of its throat down to its chest, where a patch of white fur had grown over it.
It was one of his proudest battle marks.
Tourmaline nodded along thoughtfully.
She had never suffered an injury even close to that.
After all, there had never been anyone capable of breaking through her defenses.
Other than Sein, whom she allowed to draw her blood, she would never allow any other creature to cause her pain.
1. Translator’s Note: I know it’s kinda weird that koalas and raccoons are subraces of bearfolk in this novel. In Chinese, raccoons are called “huan xiong” (raccoon bears), just like how koalas are inaccurately called “koala bears” just because they kinda resemble bears. ☜
