Chapter 1108: Shocked
Several more lashes landed in quick succession, leaving fresh, visible wounds across Sein’s body.
Not far away, Leena’s face was stained with tears as her heart twisted in agony.
These whips might not have stirred a reaction from the “Dark Reaper” herself had they landed on her, but seeing them fall on Sein tore her up inside.
The Tower Master of Bone sneered.
“Tsk, you two seem pretty close. What do you think? Should I make her into a corpse puppet?”
Sein’s expression immediately shifted from calm to fury.
Leena was his Achilles’ heel.
Although he had spent more time with Natalya and the others after joining the Divine Tower of Verdant Spring, Leena’s place in his heart had never wavered!
That flicker of anger in Sein’s eyes only fueled the Tower Master of Bone’s delight.
His twisted laughter grew louder. With a wave of his hand, the white bone claws that bound Sein and Leena dragged them forward to stand before him.
“Since you two are so in love, maybe I will fuse both of you into a corpse puppet. With your formidable constitution, the final product should be impressive. I might even gift it to Mikaeli when it is done.” He chuckled sinisterly.
Mikaeli was the Tower Master of Cinderbones. Not many knew her name, not even Leena, her own apprentice.
The Tower Master of Bone knew her real name only because of the deep grudge he held.
From the looks of it, even though Leena was supposedly her apprentice, the Rank Five tower master clearly did not regard her as important.
It had already been a while since Sein and Leena were captured, but the Tower Master of Cinderbones had yet to show up to rescue her.
Unlike Sein, who had two reliable mentors in his lifetime, that kind of luck was nearly unheard of in Blackhaven.
Blackhaven black mages were notorious for treating their own apprentices like lab rats.
It was not hard to guess why help had not come.
If the Tower Master of Bone had the guts to abduct someone so openly, he had to be fully prepared.
It was more likely that he had set a trap long ago—just waiting for the Tower Master of Cinderbones to walk right into it.
On top of that, her enemy was not the Black Tower of Bone alone. She had to worry about the other black towers and knight orders too.
At this moment, the Tower Master of Bone was actually trying to find out whether Sein truly had any hidden cards or powerful backers behind him.
Staring into the eerie blue eyes of the tower master, Sein’s fury gradually settled into a cold calm.
Then he held the man’s gaze and asked, “Are you sure you can handle the consequences of doing so?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” the Tower Master of Bone shot back, a sliver of unease creeping into his tone.
He might not have studied occult arts, but his instincts had almost never failed him.
“Are you mentally prepared for what happens if this goes any further?” Sein asked.
“You’re talking about me holding you captive here? Heh... If that vile woman dares to show up, I’ll make sure she regrets it.” The tower master scoffed.
“As far as I know, Rank Four and above are forbidden from fighting within the Magus World—Blackhaven included,” Sein said calmly.
The tower master chuckled and replied, “Well, yes, but we have ways around that.”
The implication in his tone was clear: he was not acting alone. Someone was backing him.
“In that case, it’s not my fault if you end up dead,” Sein said with a shrug.
By now, a strange sensation had begun to stir within Sein, growing stronger by the second—it was the blessing Tourmaline had given him long ago.
At the same time, the Silver Spider Ring felt warm on his finger.
The Spider Queen had probably arrived as well. For some reason, though, she had yet to show herself.
The Tower Master of Bone narrowed his eyes and was about to open his mouth to speak when...
BOOM!
A massive dragon claw tore through the tower wall without warning.
Moments later, a colossal dragon head forced its way through the crumbling structure and every layer of elemental barrier as if they were nothing.
It was Tourmaline!
After centuries apart, Sein could immediately tell she had grown even bigger.
Even her head, now wedged into the ruined interior of the tower, looked more imposing than before.
Tourmaline’s eyes crinkled up as she greeted, “Long time no see, Sein! Where in the world have you been? I even asked the Spring Guardian to help me find you, but...”
She stopped mid-sentence the moment she saw the state he was in.
Clearly, the Tower Master of Bone’s whip had done a number on him.
Even with Sein’s tempered body and formidable constitution, these wounds looked serious and would take time to heal.
In all the years they had known each other, Tourmaline had never seen Sein so beaten up.
In fact, she was not even sure if his face would heal without permanent scars.
The joy of their reunion evaporated in an instant, replaced by a storm of fury she could barely contain!
Tourmaline was usually a sweet and well-mannered dragon turtle, but when she lost her temper... she became downright terrifying.
Normally, it took someone interrupting her nap or sleep to bring out that side of her.
But ever since long ago, Sein had become one of her untouchable scales.
Sein still remembered how she had slapped a Rank Two black mage flat with her tail the first time they met.
“Is this the guy who did that to you?!” Tourmaline bellowed, her massive eyes glaring murderously at the Tower Master of Bone.
The long whip in the tower master’s hand was still stained with a trace of fresh blood on it—that alone was more than enough proof for her.
To make things worse, the man was holding the space conch she had personally gifted to Sein.
Unforgivable! There was no way she was letting this slide!
With another deafening roar, Tourmaline brought her enormous claw crashing down toward the stunned tower master, whose shock had only just caught up with him.
Many years ago, Tourmaline had already broken through to Rank Four.
Not only that, she had chosen the exceptionally difficult path of strength, one that granted her devastating force and explosive power far beyond that of a typical Rank Four being.
In terms of wealth and treasures, she could easily outmatch Sein.
The two green arm ribbons she wore were world-class secret treasures!
Even in the Magus World, not all Rank Six beings owned anything of that level.
Her massive claws came down toward the Tower Master of Bone with the force of thunder.
Over the years, Tourmaline’s control over her own power had improved significantly.
Even though Sein was standing close to her target, all he felt was a warm spring breeze brushing past him. In the next moment, the tower master was gone.
With a small smile tugging at his lips, he finally looked up at his old friend and said, “Long time no see, Tourmaline.”
