“I tried to get her to swap back. I contacted her in dreams and with my Dream Dancer powers. She blocked me a lot and then wasn’t very cooperative when I talked about swapping our bodies back.”

Lucas grunted. “That... explains a lot.” His entire body tensed. I felt like I was leaning against a brick wall.

I’d have to ask him about that later.

“I’m not sure I can trust her with these powers. She refused to swap bodies with me and tried to steal what was mine. This amount of power shouldn’t be in the hands of someone like that.”

Lucas nodded. “I agree.”

“Really?” I looked up at him again. His face was a mask. I needed to know more about what had happened when I was in the Realm of the White Queens. “What’s been going on here?”

Lucas sighed heavily. He quickly updated me on things with the other Sasha. He told me about his suspicions and how she claimed she was the one that couldn’t connect with me.

My heart sank. I hadn’t wanted to think another version of myself could do anything like that, but Lucas’s story confirmed it. Until now, I’d been holding out a little hope that I’d misinterpreted things with her. I hoped I could talk to her and work things out.

That didn’t seem possible now.

“What are we going to do about all this, Sasha? She still has our son.”

“Lucas, when I came back to this realm, I knew that there’d be a sacrifice. I can’t take my body back and I can’t give these powers to the other Sasha.”

“And our son?”

“Well, we’ll just have to keep her comfortable until the baby is born. Then, we can send her back to where she belongs.”

Lucas chuckled and kissed the top of my head. “I missed you, baby.”
