Snowstorm: I’m Super Rich in the Apocalypse
Chapter 251 Imminent Danger

Chapter 251: Chapter 251 Imminent Danger

Lu Ruiming had become even quieter today, for he had also heard the events of the morning; he knew he was what some people referred to as a ’useless person,’ one who only stayed at the base because he was related to the leadership. He always worried that some policy would drive him away.

If this were the past, he might have told these people, "It’s just my fate to be born as young master."

But now, having experienced and seen more, as well as having been beaten more, he didn’t dare.

Of course, it was also because he now had no one to rely on. Lu Ruisheng was the person he feared the most; with just a kick, he could break someone’s bones. He truly didn’t dare to challenge him and risk his remaining leg.

And in the last few days, Lu Ruiming had grown a bit wiser. After all, looking at how Lu Ruisheng thrived without reliance, and considering that they were brothers, both children of the Lu Family, he felt that if he worked hard, he should not be worse than Lu Ruisheng. He should be stronger. So all the previous guidance from his mother was wrong and had held back his development.

What upset Lu Ruiming the most was that Lu Ruisheng had found a too excellent wife. Gu Pan was beautiful, skilled, capable, and even willing to scavenge with Lu Ruisheng. Lu Ruisheng really was too lucky.

Of course, Gu Pan and the others didn’t know his thoughts. To them, it didn’t matter. Lu Ruiming was just a pawn to be used and then returned to his mother.

Lu Ruiming didn’t know all this; he thought they were taking him to the main base because of his grandparents’ favoritism. He used to worry that with Lu Ruisheng around, his grandfather would not be as fond of him as before. But now he wasn’t worried. After all, who could be more favored by the elders than the child who had grown up beside them?

He guessed it was just the old man’s wish to see Lu Ruisheng, but he was still the closest to him. With that thought, Lu Ruiming’s mood improved.

The next morning, they passed a gold mine by the side of a large river.

Gu Pan had a strong obsession with gold, so she asked the young soldier sitting in the passenger seat, "Xiao Fang, that’s a gold mine over there, right?"

These past few days, they had been riding in this vehicle, and both drivers were young. They had been well-fed by Gu Pan, and both young soldiers were very friendly toward Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng.

Xiao Fang promptly replied, "Yeah, it’s a gold mine. The refined gold was all taken back to the base the first time we passed by. What’s left is either unprocessed or semi-processed. The base can’t handle so many ores yet, and nobody is going to take them for now, since they’re not finished products. Without processing technology, they’re basically of little use, so they just lay there, abandoned."

Hearing this, Gu Pan itched with curiosity. She wondered what would happen if the unrefined gold were placed into the Space. Would it automatically be refined? And then converted into exchangeable area? Or would it be unusable? She wouldn’t know until she tried, so she decided that on their return, she would surely take some gold to test. If it didn’t work, she could temporarily store the ore in the Space, as it would still be useful if the apocalypse ever ended.

She noted this down in her notebook. Originally, she had planned to return with the military, but now she was changing her mind. When the time came, she would allow Lu Ruiming to return with the troops while she and Lu Ruisheng would depart at an appropriate place for free movement.

As she wrote, she asked Xiao Fang again, "Are there any other mineral resources along the way? Since there’s not much else going on, you can tell me about them, and any other valuable places."

Because Gu Pan had told Xiao Fang and the others that she wanted to record everything about the apocalypse, taking photos and keeping a diary at each place, she hoped that even if they died in the apocalypse, her diary and photos might let future generations know they existed.

As such, Xiao Fang had a lot of respect and admiration for what she was doing.

So, Xiao Fang enthusiastically began to introduce her to the resources, "Half a day’s drive ahead, there’s a city with a historical museum. The small items were scavenged away when the apocalypse first struck, but some large items, like engraved canopy beds and hardwood cabinets, which are tough to transport and maintain, remain. Previously, the base had collected representative objects from different periods from various museums, and these had to be left behind. After all, in the apocalypse, people are more important, so these items are mostly just preserved in photographs."

Gu Pan nodded, "Yes, our Huaxia Country is vast, with a rich history; there are so many treasures. It’s a shame not everything can be perfectly preserved for posterity."

At the moment, she just wished her Space were larger, so she could take in these items. Once the apocalypse was over, these historical relics would still be indispensable to the nation. Even if the apocalypse did not end, these items could be preserved longer and eventually handed over to the most reliable department.

Xiao Fang agreed, "Right, this cursed apocalypse really sucks."

After voicing their complaints, Gu Pan handed functional drinks to Xiao Fang and the driver, which greatly revitalized the two young men, who continued to tell her about the rest of the way.

There was a large library, a quartz sand field, and an astronomical science museum.

In short, they talked about all the significant and useful landmarks they passed along the way.

Gu Pan’s notebook was now filled with three full pages. She was now determined that she needed to save some time to move independently when she returned; there were too many places to go and too many things she wanted to collect.

Lu Ruisheng could certainly guess his wife’s intentions. He too had thought of splitting from the military on their return.

They could also separate midway, and then regroup in areas where less was going on. When with the military, their minds were more at ease, not worrying about danger. They’d decide based on the situation at that time.

The following days of travel were smooth, for it was the time of the midnight sun, giving them plenty of time for the journey. In another two days, they would arrive at the main base.

That afternoon, after discussing with the captain, Lu Jianshe decided to travel a bit further today, passing the next city and camping out thirty miles beyond it. That way, they could reach the base half a day earlier, taking advantage of working hours for better handover procedures.

As they drove through the city, Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng felt something was off—it was too quiet. They asked Xiao Fang to communicate their concerns to Lu Jianshe using the walkie-talkie.

Lu Jianshe and the others also sensed something wrong. The leading captain quickly gave instructions over the radio to turn around at the upcoming junction, detour, and bypass the city center.

However, the first vehicle had barely turned around before hitting a roadblock and getting a flat tire.

The military vehicles had always been safe, and there was a certain level of awe and respect for the military, leading to the belief that anything bearing the Huaxia Flag was safe. After many smooth traversals, their guard had dropped, underestimating the callousness of human hearts during the apocalypse and overestimating certain beliefs.
