Snowstorm: I’m Super Rich in the Apocalypse -
Chapter 247 More Secrets
Chapter 247: Chapter 247 More Secrets
Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng took Lu Ruiming to the apartment they had rented before, and they weren’t worried about him running away, for his mind was set on going to the headquarters, so he was more afraid of being found by Zhang Huishu.
Without any means of communication, hiding and remaining undiscovered was not difficult.
After they settled Lu Ruiming, Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng went downstairs to meet Lu Jianshe, and all three had the same idea—to kidnap Zhang Huishu and interrogate her directly, since they were soon going to the headquarters and time didn’t allow them to delay.
Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng didn’t want Lu Jianshe to be involved in this matter, given his military background, but Lu Jianshe insisted, claiming it was his personal issue and he had to participate.
Finally, they came up with a plan—to have Lu Jianshe wait in an unoccupied villa behind them while the two of them tricked Zhang Huishu into coming.
After agreeing on the plan, they first went to the unoccupied villa, unlocked the door, and let Lu Jianshe wait inside. Then Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng proceeded to Zhang Huishu’s residence.
Just as the two of them reached the door, Zhang Huishu, frantic and anxious, came out. She was on her way to find Lu Jianguo because she had guessed Lu Ruiming’s motive for escaping—he wanted to follow Lu Jianshe to the headquarters. Knowing her son was stubborn and difficult to persuade, she set her sights on Lu Jianguo. She planned to go to Lu Jianguo’s workplace, create a scene, accuse the Lu Family of bullying by taking away their bloodline to leave the mother and take the son.
Given Lu Jianguo’s position, he couldn’t afford such scandal. She absolutely couldn’t let Lu Ruiming leave her; otherwise, she would really be hopeless. How could those men be as reliable as her son?
In truth, Zhang Huishu hadn’t seen her son clearly, or perhaps it was a mother’s bias—she couldn’t believe her son would be ungrateful. If she did see through him, she would realize that this son truly wasn’t as reliable as those men were, but sadly, she didn’t know.
Upon seeing Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng, Zhang Huishu silently cursed her luck. She didn’t want to get entangled with these two, who were unpredictable and uncontrollable, and who would resort to physical force, so she thought of running.
But Gu Pan had already foreseen her intent and placed her hand firmly on her shoulder, "Third Aunt, do you want to know where your cousin is?"
Zhang Huishu wanted to know, but not from them, knowing they had no good intentions.
Zhang Huishu wasn’t foolish either. She said, "I do not want to know. Since he is a child of the Lu Family and wants to go with you, I can’t stop you. I am done with this." With that, she tried to return to her room, thinking if she could just lock the door, they couldn’t do anything to her.
But Gu Pan’s grip on her shoulder was like a vise, fixing her in place as Gu Pan locked eyes with her, "But we want to tell you, so you should come with us."
Zhang Huishu clutched the doorknob behind her tightly, "I won’t go, I won’t. Whatever you have to say, say it here. I’m not going anywhere. This is a base, there are laws here, you can’t force me."
Gu Pan whispered in her ear, "Do you think we are the type to play by the rules? Besides, some things can’t be escaped. We’re both easy to talk to, and talking things through with us might be better than hiding, right?"
Though her words seemed kind, to Zhang Huishu’s ears, they sounded like a deadly threat.
She shook her head incessantly, "No, no, I won’t go."
Gu Pan smiled, "If you don’t cooperate, and we’re in a bad mood, we might just take your son away and end him. What will you do then?"
This was Zhang Huishu’s greatest fear, "No, I’ll go with you."
Gu Pan smirked, "See, why make me threaten you? Wouldn’t it have been better to agree earlier?"
Zhang Huishu was furious inside, thinking, If I had a choice, do you think I’d willingly follow you? But she couldn’t say anything else and had to follow them.
Lu Ruisheng watched his wife with amusement, finding her adorable even when she was manipulating others.
Since they had driven there, once they were in the car, Zhang Huishu knew she couldn’t escape.
Upon arriving at the vacant villa, they drove the car in and then shut the large gate.
Zhang Huishu became increasingly panicked, "What are you planning to do? Where is Ruiming?"
Gu Pan responded, "You’ll know once we go inside."
As they entered, Lu Jianshe locked the door.
Hearing the sound of the lock, Zhang Huishu’s legs went weak, realizing she’d walked into a trap, but for her son’s sake, she had no choice.
Gu Pan addressed Zhang Huishu, "Let’s sit down and talk. If we agree, you won’t have to suffer."
Though Zhang Huishu was scheming, she was just an ordinary woman and couldn’t help being terrified by the situation.
Without waiting for Gu Pan to ask, she began, "Lu Ruiming is not a child of the Lu Family. You should be pleased to hear this. Lu Ruisheng is the only grandson of the Lu Family. Please give Ruiming back to me. He really can’t compete with Lu Ruisheng; he’s not as smart, and he doesn’t even look like a Lu. We, mother and son, haven’t committed murder or arson. Now, we just want to live well during the apocalypse. Now that you know, can you just let us go? We promise not to disturb your lives again."
No one expected Zhang Huishu to break so easily, divulging everything without much pressure.
But this wasn’t the answer they were looking for.
Lu Ruisheng asked, "How much do you know about the Old Lady’s actions of throwing me away? We are pressing you for this."
Zhang Huishu hastily gestured with her hands, "I don’t know about that. Honestly, Lu Jiancheng is a secretive and calculating person, and he doesn’t share everything with me."
Gu Pan laughed, "You dare cuckold him and still say he is calculating? How credible can your words be?"
Zhang Huishu hesitated for a long time before responding, "He’s impotent, so I had a child with someone else, which he accepted. We had an understanding."
Gu Pan, Lu Ruisheng, and Lu Jianshe were dumbfounded by this revelation—what bizarre circumstances. It was almost too strange to believe.
Zhang Huishu, fearful they wouldn’t believe her, said, "I’m telling the truth. Additionally, because of this, Lu Jiancheng didn’t fully trust me, and likewise, I didn’t trust him. Fortunately, he died early so I was freed. Since he left behind a substantial amount of money and the Old Lady secretly gave me a lot over the years, I’ve lived decently. Before the apocalypse, I was with a grain merchant, so my son and I didn’t suffer. Later, when my older brother came to find us, I thought it was safer to be in the base, so I chose to come here."
She heard the others refer to her mother-in-law as Old Lady, so she did the same—maybe it would make a difference, perhaps they would treat her better.
Gu Pan felt that the information was indeed overwhelming—no wonder Zhang Huishu had managed to live comfortably during the apocalypse. She had also been quite lucky.
But was what she said true?
