Sleeping With The CEO -
Chapter 92: Finding Out
Chapter 92: Finding Out
When Emily had begun applying, she had done so happily. Knowing that not only would her resume speak for her, that she was also going to ace the interviews( she’d had many of those afterall). But ever since she had started applying something strange was happening. No one was getting back to her. Had she been some newbie who had no idea how the industry worked, she would have put it down to just not being what they wanted and let it go.
But Emily knew her worth. She was more than qualified for the posts that she had applied for. She had worked at Haven Group, thee Haven Group. One of the hardest companies in the world to get into. And not only that, she had not just worked under any run of the mill boss. She had been the personal assistant to the big boss himself, Derek Haven. A man who had never been known to keep a PA for more than a month, but she had survived for over two years. People should have been falling over themselves to try and get her to come to their companies. But all she got was radio silence, something was up.
And her belief that something was going on was proven when she finally got a call back, but it was not for the reason that she had been hoping. Having nearly broken a leg in an effort to get to her ringing phone, Emily was a bit breathless when she picked up.
"Hello," She answered, a hand over her heart as she got her breathing under control.
"Hello, this is Melanie from Company Q, may I speak to Miss Emily Molson?" Moving over to the couch, Emily took a seat.
"This is Emily Molson," She really hoped that it was good news. She had been beginning to worry that she would never have anyone call her back.
"Good day Miss Molson, I was calling to make sure that you knew about the job application we received under your name," What a strange thing to say. Of course Emily knew, she was the one who had typed everything out and sent it, still she decided to play ball and see where the conversation was leading.
"Yes, I am aware of it," Despite it being the middle of the day, she looked over at the door, just to make sure her mom would not suddenly come home.
"Oh, good, CEO Haven has already told you then," Derek? She had not spoken to the man since the day she quit, why would he be telling her anything?
Unless... a niggling suspicion began to form, and rather than just dismiss it, Emily decided to just face things head on.
"Yes, he let me know, but just in case I missed anything, can you run the situation by me again.
"Oh, of course. Here at Company Q we received a job application under your name. When we called Haven Group to get a reference, we managed to speak to CEO Haven directly, and he informed us that you were still very much his personal assistant," Emily was frozen on the spot, her mouth hanging open. Melanie, unaware of Emily’s reaction continued to speak.
"If someone is using your identity to try and get a job, please report it. But if you accidentally sent out the application, then that’s fine too. If you plan on leaving Haven Group, please quit first, that will make it easier for us to consider your application. Have a good day, Miss Molson," And with that, Melanie from Company Q ended the call, unaware that she had just rocked Emily’s world to the point of leaving her speechless.
When she finally regained the power to think, Emily’s first thought, was ...no way...
That was it, that was the first thought that she clung to, her heart aching. Had she misread him? All of their time together, and she had never seen Derek do something so cold.
She needed a job. He knew that she needed a job, so why would he go around ruining her chances of getting a job.
Was he really one of those bosses who seemed to think that they owned their employees. Was that it? Was that what this was about? Control? Tossing her phone on a nearby cushion? Emily stood up. She stomped her foot, her hands balled into fists, her whole body trembling.
The shards of hurt and betrayal were quickly swept away. A tide of fury coming over her.
"Derek Haven, you are going to regret ever crossing me," She hissed. So what if she did not have money, power, influence and an army of lawyers behind her. She was a human being well capable of knocking a man out with a single punch. She had almost become a police officer, she knew how to handle herself in a fight.
And a fight was exactly what she was bringing to Derek Haven’s doorstep. It would take all of the security in the building to get her off of him. He would be a mess by the time she was done.
Heading to her room, Emily opened the door with more force than was necessary. She changed out of her flowery dress and into a pair of jeans and a black shirt( black hid blood stains better). Then she pulled on some boots, and grabbed her wallet. She would use the ride to Haven Group headquarters to think of just how much pain she was going to inflict on Derek Haven.
He clearly did not know her very well, thinking he could just mess with her life like that. She was going to teach him some manners. Emily walked back out of her bedroom, and through the living room. Hand over the doorknob she was just about to open the door and head out when her phone chimed. The delicate chime was enough to pierce through Emily’s cloud of red rage for a moment, and she left the door and went back to the couch to pick up the device.
It was a message from her mom.
Hey, honey, hope you are having a good day. Just thinking of you, love you.
And Emily felt reason return to her. Her mom, she had her mom to think about. She could not just go out there and turn into a kickboxer on her former boss. That would have so many legal problems coming her way. So Emily did what a sane, reasonable adult who did not want to go to jail would do...she sat down, and breathed until she was no longer so angry.
But just because her need to punch something diminished, it did not mean that her need to express her rage went away. And Emily knew just the thing to help, if she could not attack Derek physically, then she would go for him verbally. Taking out, her phone, she called him.
He did not pick up...the coward, but she still left him a message.
" Hey, Derek, its me. Emily, your former PA. You know, the woman whose career you are toying with? Stop it right this instant Derek or so help me I will rearrange your bone structure and you will be breathing through your butt hole, with your toes being your new teeth. Do not mess with me, Emily the PA would not have touched you, but just Emily will knock your teeth out. Do not make me come over there," She hung up after that, and still feeling angry, she decided to change his contact name.
He was no longer just Derek, but Buttface Mcbutt. It was childish, but it brought a smile to Emily’s face.
