Sleeping With The CEO -
Chapter 220: Familiar
Chapter 220: Familiar
On the surface, Sebastian’s plan had been simple.
Tail his nephew. Spy on him. Find out who his lady love was. Turn his attention to digging up said girl’s skeletons. Use those skeletons to control her, and thus gain a way to quickly destroy his nephew.
Simple, even a child in kindergarten who was high on whatever crayons were made of these days could understand. And so, instead of enjoying a perfectly good Thursday night with several barely dressed exotic beauties pawing at him.
Sebastian Haven had made a noble sacrifice. He had braved the many temptations of the city, resisting them valiantly. Not allowing himself to be swayed by neither pretty eyes nor large breasts. No matter the size of the bra cup, he had simply looked away and focused on the mission at hand.
And said mission had been spying on his nephew. It would have been easier for Sebastian to hire somebody to do all of the dirty work for him. But after the last time when he’d had a PA who had showed promise spy on Derek, and things had not gone well.
The whole thing had left Sebastian wary of sending people after his nephew. Some things it was just easier to do on your own. No matter how laborious and boring they were. And so, on Thursday night, instead of having his head pillowed on a sizable cleavage. Sebastian had been loitering, and he had not just loitering at any random place in the city. No, he had been passing his time around the hovel that his nephew lived in. The place itself, was officially taken as being one of the wealthy areas of the city. But as far as Sebastian was concerned, the fact that his nephew lived there brought down the value of the property exponentially. But nobody would ever listen to him when he said that. So his opinion did not really matter. What mattered was that Sebastian had spent hours outside the building.
At first he had been walking around the front entrance of the building that Derek lived in. But then he had noticed security starting to pay particularly close attention to him. The men and women there had been looking at Sebastian as though he wanted to rob them.
On a normal day, he would have scoffed and told them all where to get off. After all, with just one shoelace, he could pay all of their salaries for the year.
They should learn to recognize money when they saw it. But since Sebastian did not care about the opinions of those beneath him. He had simply swallowed his pride and walked away. Ducking in and out of nearby buildings as he’d tried to keep the building close by. After all, if something were going to happen, it was going to be from there.
Either he would catch sight of his nephew’s latest squeeze, or he would catch sight of both his nephew and the girl together, which would have been the cherry on top of everything. But as beneficial as the whole spying on his nephew thing had promised to be if it paid out.
Sebastian had not accounted for one thing...It was boring beyond belief.
Not just boring either, it was also very tiring. From time to time, Sebastian had actually had to go back to his car to rest his feet a bit. All the while, there had been nothing exciting happening.
The highlight of his night had been witnessing the arrival of his nephew. He had gotten a good look as his nephew’s car had passed him by, and he had been the only person inside. There had been no one else. His nephew’s arrival had made him more alert. If somebody was going to arrive.
Then they were most likely to come in after his nephew. And since his nephew had already come in. He had taken it to mean that his lover would be showing up soon. And so, Sebastian had become more vigilant than he had been at the beginning of his stakeout.
Another hour of him just waiting in the car had passed. And then when a second hour had rolled around and he still had yet to see an unfamiliar face walk into the building. Sebastian had decided that he had to get out of the car, to stretch his legs again. Looking around, he had spotted a store a few blocks away.
And he had decided to buy himself something. Preferably something with a lot of caffeine in it. He would have loved for that caffeine to have some booze sprinkled in. But since he had been working, it had not been something that he could indulge in. So he had decided to just go for some coffee. Sure, whatever drivel that the store sold would most likely never be able to match up with the expensive brews that Sebastian was partial to. But since he was already in the hovel. He might as well drink whatever it was that passed for quality in that area.
So he had made his way to the store. It had been intended to be a quick trip in and out. But the moment that he had walked in, Sebastian had realized that he had made a mistake. As a rule, the older Haven did not go into shopping areas unless A.
There was a lot of lingerie involved or B, there was a lot of booze involved. The store that he walked into had neither. And as Sebastian had looked around, he had gotten lost almost instantly. What on earth is this place? He had thought. Shaking his head to clear it, Sebastian had decided that did not matter. He was a Haven, and Havens overcame, always. And so without bothering to ask for help, Sebastian had set off, his steps confident as he walked through the store. All that he had to do was keep walking, and eventually he would come across something full of caffeine. Easy,
or at least it should have been. Sebastian had walked aisle after aisle, and at some point he was pretty sure that some of the aisles were on repeat. The same things had been on display, despite him having just left them two aisles back. He’d actually been of the mind that it was some sort of sick joke? Finally deciding that he’d had enough.
Sebastian had turned to ask the nearest person that he saw. Turning back, he had grabbed the shoulder of the woman that he had just passed. "Excuse me," He’d said in his smoothest tone, and then he had paused. There had been something about the woman that was familiar.
That hair, he had seen that hair before.
He’d run his gaze over her back, trying to guess her body shape despite the coat that she was wearing. Sebastian might not have been good with faces. But if he’d slept with a woman, he would be able to recognize their build from anywhere.
But he had not intimately recognized the woman’s build. So why had she seemed so familiar then? And why had she not turned to face him? Had she not heard him? Then just when he had about to turn her himself. Sebastian had found himself facing an even bigger problem than some random woman’s identity. The arrival of his nephew.
"Uncle," Just hearing the word, had made him want to throw up. He barely remembered letting the young woman go.
Now seated in his car again, Sebastian found himself wishing that he could find some way to erase permanently from his brain. There was nothing quite like a nephew you hated with everything in you, trying to make small talk. At the end of it, Sebastian barely managed to survive the encounter without grabbing a box of cereal and trying to brain Derek with it. But he had managed to hold himself together and in a matter of minutes he was back in his car. But this time he did not stay. Instead he sped away, feeling cheated.
He had just wasted hours of a perfectly good Thursday. Clearly his nephew was not seeing anyone. Whatever softness Sebastian had thought he had picked up on, he had been wrong.
If Derek had a lady friend to go home to. Then he would not have been in the store at that time, buying milk of all things. He would have been with them, and Sebastian would have caught them in the act.
The almost familiar woman forgotten. Sebastian sped away. His car headed to the nearest nightclub. He would never know how right he was about his nephew. Or how close he had come to finding out the identity of the woman.
