Sleeping With My Step Daddy -
Chapter 90: "Bast Wed’s Kai"
Chapter 90: "Bast Wed’s Kai"
Bast sat in his office, shoulders tense, eyes fixed on nothing in particular. Ethan leaned against the desk, arms crossed, watching him.
Ethan: "Hey, Bast. What’s up with you?"
Bast (sighing): "Nothing."
Ethan (smirking): "Come on, Bast. I’ve known you long enough—I can tell something’s going on."
Bast exhaled heavily, rubbing his temple as he leaned back in the chair.
Bast: "I promised Kai I wouldn’t touch him until our wedding night."
Ethan burst out laughing.
Ethan: "And now you can’t control yourself?"
Bast (groaning): "Every time I look at him, I get turned on. It’s torture. I’m just... bearing it."
Ethan (grinning): "Well, there’s only two days left. The wedding’s almost here. Just hang in there."
Bast finally let a smile slip, the tension in his face easing a little.
Bast: "Yeah... just two more days. Then Kai will be mine—forever."
Finally, the big day arrived.
Takeshi sat on the couch, his eyes misty as he watched Kai stand in front of the mirror. The designer adjusted Kai’s elegant wedding suit with care.
Takeshi (softly, voice filled with emotion): "You look beautiful, my son."
Kai looked at his father’s reflection in the mirror and smiled.
Kai: "Thanks, Dad."
Just then, there was a knock at the door. Reiji stepped in, dressed in a matching suit with Eden, both looking sharp.
Reiji: "Kai, you look beautiful, my cousin."
Eden (smiling): "Amazing. You really do."
Kai (nervously): "Thanks. I’m just a little bit nervous."
Takeshi stood up, walked over, and gently patted Kai’s back.
Takeshi: "You look outstanding. No need to be nervous."
Kai nodded slowly, trying to calm his racing heart.
Takeshi: "Alright then, I’ll go meet the guests—and Bast."
Kai nodded again.
Reiji smirked teasingly.
Reiji: "You know, the groom looks amazing... handsome and charming."
Kai blushed.
Eden (grinning): "Aww, look at Kai, already excited to see him."
Kai (blushing): "Enough, you two!"
Reiji and Eden exchanged playful smiles.
Reiji: "Alright, alright. We’re going to check on little cute Mike."
They left, and Kai turned back to the mirror. His heart was full—excitement, nerves, and love all swirling at once. He took a deep breath.
Outside the room, the wedding venue looked stunning. The decorations sparkled under soft lights. Guests mingled and chatted cheerfully, and the walls were adorned with beautifully framed photos of Bast and Kai together.
Bast stood near the entrance, looking composed yet glowing in his tuxedo.
Meanwhile, Rico and Jeff arrived together. Jeff held Rico’s hand as they walked in. Miles noticed them from across the room, standing with Reiji, Eden, and little Mike.
Miles: "Hey, Rico. Finally, you made it."
His eyes shifted to Jeff. A flash of surprise crossed his face. Isn’t that Bast’s secretary? he thought. Wait—are they... holding hands? Is he Rico’s boyfriend?
Eden took the chance to introduce Reiji to Rico.
Rico (smiling): "Hi."
Then he turned to Miles.
Rico: "Where’s Kai?"
Miles: "He’s in the dressing room."
Rico: "Alright, then. I want to meet him—I have a gift to give."
Miles (confused): "Gift? Oh..." He remembered the deal. "...Is he your boyfriend?"
Jeff nodded and, with a smile, showed the ring on his finger. Rico did the same. Jeff then wrapped an arm around Rico’s waist.
Jeff: "Shall we go?"
Rico (nodding): "Let’s go."
They turned together and headed toward the dressing room, ready to surprise Kai on his big day.
Bast stood beside Takeshi, looking stunning—handsome, charming, absolutely killer in his wedding suit. Takeshi looked at him with pride.
Takeshi (smiling): "You look so good, my son."
Bast (smiling back): "Thanks, Mr. Takeshi."
Takeshi (teasing): "You should start calling me Dad now."
Bast (hesitant): "It feels a little... awkward, because..."
Takeshi (interrupting): "Because you think I look old? Don’t worry, I don’t. Just call me Dad."
Bast (soft chuckle): "Okay... Dad."
Takeshi (pleased): "Good."
He gave Bast a warm nod before walking off to talk with his younger brother, Riko.
Just then, Rico and Jeff walked up to Bast. Rico smirked as always.
Rico: "Hello, finally the old geezer is getting married."
Bast (sighing): "Ugh, you, Rico..."
Rico (grinning): "Yeah, we were on our way to meet Kai, but then I thought—first, let’s see how the old groom looks."
Bast: "Rico, you wanna die today?"
Jeff (interrupting politely): "Hello, sir."
Bast’s eyes glanced down at their joined hands—and the matching rings.
Bast (raising a brow): "So this is the reason for your sudden day off?"
Jeff gave a shy smile, but before he could answer, Rico jumped in.
Rico: "He’s my boyfriend now. He doesn’t need to work for you anymore."
Bast: "Ah, whatever. But Jeff is my loyal and personal secretary—you can’t just take him like that."
Rico (teasing): "What?"
Jeff (quickly): "Please, can we talk about this later?"
He gently took Rico’s hand.
Jeff: "Come on, let’s go meet Kai."
And before Bast could say anything more, Jeff dragged Rico away, leaving Bast shaking his head with a reluctant smile.
Ethan walked over to Bast and patted his back with a wide grin.
Ethan: "Oh, my friend, you look absolutely killer—charming as ever."
Bast (sighing): "But someone just called me the old groom a minute ago."
Ethan (laughing): "Ah, Rico. He’s always like that—trying to piss you off, even on your wedding day."
Bast (smirking): "I don’t care. I’m just excited to finally see Kai."
Ethan: "Don’t worry, the wedding will start in a few minutes."
Meanwhile, Rico and Jeff entered the dressing room. Kai turned around, surprised to see them.
Rico (grinning): "Kai, kiddo—you look beautiful."
Kai (smiling): "Thanks."
He then looked at Jeff with a curious expression.
Kai: "Jeff?"
Rico (teasing): "Mhm, your gift. He’s Jeff—my boyfriend."
Kai (shocked): "Is it real?"
Rico (nodding): "Yep. He’s mine."
Jeff leaned in and kissed Rico’s cheek.
Jeff: "It’s real."
Kai (laughing softly): "I’m happy for both of you."
Just then, a servant entered the room and respectfully bowed.
Servant: "Mr. Kai, Mr. Takeshi is waiting for you. The ceremony is about to begin."
Rico (grinning): "We’ll be outside, waiting to see the most beautiful groom."
Jeff: "We’ll save your spotlight."
Kai nodded with a nervous smile. He took a deep breath and turned to face the mirror one last time. He adjusted his suit, his hands trembling slightly. The servant opened the door.
Outside, Takeshi stood tall and proud, waiting to walk his son down the aisle—just like tradition.
Kai held a bouquet of flowers in his hands, his fingers gently wrapping around his father’s arm. The soft sound of piano music flowed through the air, delicate and emotional. All eyes turned as Takeshi and Kai slowly walked down the aisle toward the stage.
At the altar, Bast stood waiting—looking stunning in his wedding suit, handsome and composed, but with a soft gleam in his eyes that only Kai could understand.
Kai’s heart raced. He’s looking at me... the same way he did when we first met. Those eyes... I fell for them from the start.
As they reached the stage, Bast stepped forward and gently extended his hand.
Bast (softly, with emotion): "Mr. Takeshi... I promise I’ll always keep Kai happy. Please... entrust him to me."
Takeshi looked at his son with pride, then smiled warmly and placed Kai’s hand into Bast’s.
Kai stepped onto the stage and stood face to face with Bast, their hands tightly joined.
Bast (with a smile): "You look beautiful."
Kai (blushing): "Thanks... and you look handsome too."
Bast smiled, his eyes never leaving Kai’s.
The officiant stood between them as the soft piano continued playing in the background. The guests all sat in silence, watching a moment that felt nothing short of magical. Under the soft glow of the lights and the blessing of everyone present, Bast and Kai looked like a couple from heaven—perfect, glowing, and deeply in love.
The officiant stepped forward, his voice gentle yet full of warmth as he addressed the guests.
Officiant: "Ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here today to witness and bless the union of Sebastian Vaughn and Kai Haruto as they pledge themselves to one another in love and devotion."
He turned to Bast and smiled.
Officiant: "Sebastian Vaughn, do you accept Kai Haruto as your life partner, your husband, your everything? Do you promise to always keep him happy, to support and comfort him, and to never leave his side until the end of your days?"
Bast didn’t take his eyes off Kai. His gaze was steady, his heart full.
Bast (softly, with a smile): "I do."
The officiant then looked at Kai, his expression warm and kind.
Officiant: "Kai Haruto, do you accept Sebastian Vaughn as your life partner, your husband, your everything? Do you promise to keep him happy, to comfort and support him, and to never leave him until you die?"
Kai’s eyes welled up with tears, his voice trembling with emotion.
Kai (choked up, smiling through his tears): "I do."
Officiant: "Then with the power vested in me, I now pronounce you a married couple. You may exchange the rings."
Bast gently took Kai’s hand, slipping the ring onto his finger with a soft, reassuring smile. Kai did the same, his fingers shaking slightly, but his heart steady.
The guests erupted into applause, the sound of happiness filling the hall like a wave of warmth and joy.
Officiant (beaming): "Now... you may kiss your husband."
Without hesitation, Bast pulled Kai into his arms and kissed him deeply—passionately. Their lips met in a kiss that sealed not just a vow, but a lifetime of love. The hall was filled with cheering and clapping, but in that moment, for Bast and Kai, the world faded away.
They were no longer two people.
They were one.
