Chapter 150: She Is Who Connects All And Breaks
Chapter 150: She Is Who Connects All And Breaks
"Maybe it’s an effect of being erased from his world" Alruna began in a thought and I darted my eyes to her.
"Maybe right at that time you were erased you carried his child and coming here something must have weakened his seed within you, gradually losing its essence"
I gulped at her words, her theory was correct and it only brought dread to my body.
"Tell me, your highness, did you in any way experience a situation of life and death?"
I suddenly remembered when Aldon strangled me to death and for a short while, I died before coming back. It explains it all, the connection and the sighting of her as a little girl.
"If you did then I believe it somehow breathed life into that thing growing in you now"
"It is not a thing!" I snapped, suddenly feeling angry. I knew I might be overreacting but I didn’t care, I don’t like her choice of words no matter who she thinks she is. "A life is growing inside of me"
A life that William and I made together, a life now growing inside of me which was impossible, and yet here we are.
"A life that was never meant to be or happen," Alruna explains and I kept my stern gaze on her. "Elven kind cannot procreate with another kind except theirs"
As much as I hate it... she is right, everything with William was impossible from the very beginning.
"This child of yours is a disaster and an omen to our people, it ruins everything, your relationship with Aldon and your fate with him, what you carry is a Fairy" she pointed.
I paused at her words. "A-A Fairy?"
Did I hear right?
"Tell me your Highness what do you understand by the word ’Fairy’?"
"A-A mixture of human blood and Sprite blood"
That is what it was, isn’t it? Or was there another meaning to it here?
She shook her head. "Here Fairies are known as stained blood, a blood that should have never happened, in your case your Highness, your blood is tainted with that of a Fox, and that growing inside of you now, is a Fairy!" she spat to the ground and I jolted at her action. "All because of your affair with some fox"
"It wasn’t an affair, William was my husband!"
She said nothing, rising to her feet. "Tell that to Aldon," She said only as she left my room and my nerves spiked when I set my eyes on Aldon just at the door. He must have heard everything or he knows ever since I threw up at the Union Ceremony, he is that wise.
I quickly rose to my feet and backed away. "Aldon"
I couldn’t read his look as he stalked towards me. "Today was meant to be a joyous event," He began in a tone I cannot recognize "A day you and I say our vows and be together for eternity", a tear slid down his cheeks and he stopped no longer stalking towards me, but I remained on alert, I don’t know but there was something off about his aura.
"To have my children" he added and leveled his eyes on my tummy where I placed a hand on it on instinct. "Amazing isn’t it? You carried his seed within you for 2 years and yet just at the bridge between life and death it decided to start forming" he walked closer and I was pinned where I was.
I gasped when he placed his hand on my tummy and caressed it gently.
"It’s so weak... can you feel it?" he asks. "Talk to me, Aveline"
"Y-Yes" my lips quivered.
He smiled. "A life so weak and it makes you wonder why it still breathes"
I closed my eyes, shaking. Yes, everything he says is true. Her aura is too weak and I still find it hard to believe she is alive, I would even pause and make sure her aura was still pulsating within me, an aura so identical to William’s, and yet have the brightest glow I have ever felt. It was too faint, barely staying alive.
I opened my eyes. "It was never supposed to be possible" I began. "But this changes everything Aldon, I could feel it, and..." I sighed hoping I would try to be in some kind of understanding with him, I knew he could tell too, tell that this child was here for a reason. I could even feel it... the connection Aldon and I shared... there was a crack, a crack that emerged when I first felt her within me.
I wasn’t even sure she would survive longer, I wasn’t even sure her aura would go on, I was scared, scared that I would lose this little fragment that somehow connected me to William. There was no hope for her.
But yet each time I remembered the image of her as a little girl, her soft giggles, her eyes, her smile, the scent she holds, I wanted nothing more than to experience all that in reality, hold her in my arms and hear her baby coos, hear her laughter and hear her call me mother for the first time.
I crave everything even though I knew it wasn’t possible.
"She connects all... and she breaks all," it was high time Aldon understood for I knew he could tell, judging from the look in his eyes, and I could see it all, I had seen it ever since I spotted the little girl with her feet running around.
She is the Fairy that reunites all
"She is hope, and her name is Estel, a miracle that even destiny cannot be written in stone" I announced and Aldon’s expression was fast changing like a speed of light.
He grabbed my throat. "You know better than to give it a name!" he snarled as his silver eyes glowed but I stood my ground, holding his hand around my neck in an attempt to pull it off but it was strong.
"Y-You are scared, scared because she will break our bond"
He growled, moving me to the window. "You should not want this Aveline! This seed within you destroys everything and every other promise we have made together!"
"How certain are you that I made a promise to you?!"
He froze. I noticed he trembled and his eyelid twitches. And then a pause came, and he leaned to me in a heartbeat, his breath washing upon my features.
"You will survive..." he looked me up and down. "But will his weak seed in you?"
My eyes widened in horror, finding the meaning of his words.
"Ald-"
It was too late because he pushed me out the window and I fell from the tower.
