Chapter 445: Chapter 429 Body Constitution Intimidation (1/3)
"I never expected your progress to be so immense!" Ying Cheng’en coldly watched Zhou Heng, his intent to kill abundant and unhidden.
Zhou Heng responded indifferently, "Did you think you were the only one allowed to make leaps and bounds?"
"So what if I am? You’re merely a Heavenly Venerate of brutal strength, how could you possibly contend with my myriad transformations?" Ying Cheng’en huffed, in a battle between experts, striking at the heart is paramount, and he didn’t mind crushing Zhou Heng’s spirit before the fierce battle even began.
The strongest battle power of a Martial Artist still lies in their Martial Arts Techniques; even Bloodline Power is essentially a cultivative technique without the need for cultivation, capable of unleashing a Martial Artist’s strength in tenfold, or even a hundredfold bursts. This is why realm and strength are not equal to battle power.
But Martial Arts Techniques are founded on Spiritual Power; without it, those techniques are useless!
Zhou Heng laughed heartily and said, "And you? Seeking only for the realm and taking shortcuts, you’re destined to have weak battle power! Right now, at best you can only fight me to a draw, but once I break through to the Divinity Transformation Realm, you will be no match for me."
"Humph, then let’s decide the victor with a battle!" Ying Cheng’en’s murderous aura swirled, "I will take back what you stole from me that was rightfully mine, and you will pay back double!"
"We’ll see if you have the ability!" Zhou Heng let out a long howl, his feet powering into motion, whooshing towards Ying Cheng’en. His brutal strength was truly terrifying, the explosive force unleashed in that instant was immensely powerful, and as his form sprang forward, a deep crater instantly formed in the ground, with a ravine spreading out in all directions.
Zhou Heng’s speed was even greater, as he readied his fist and threw a heavy punch towards Ying Cheng’en.
"Like I’d be afraid of you!" Ying Cheng’en sneered coldly. As a true Heavenly Venerate, one of the most powerful beings under the heavens, how could he show weakness?
He, too, clenched his fists—each bone spur emerging, ready to clash head-on with Zhou Heng.
Bang!
In the loud explosion, both men simultaneously retreated. One was a Heavenly Venerate at the physical realm with limited strength, and the other was a hastily advanced Heavenly Venerate, equally bottom-ranked in the Divinity Transformation Realm. Surprisingly, their exchange resulted in a deadlock.
"Damn it!" Ying Cheng’en’s expression turned ugly. He had expected a sweeping victory, to use his status as a Divinity Transformation Realm Heavenly Venerate to completely obliterate Zhou Heng and the Zhao Family, and then take back Ying Mengfan—in all these days, he must have realized who had moved against him.
Because he was so certain of victory, he had sent someone to issue a challenge, very ostentatiously and impressively, to pressure Zhou Heng, causing him to be sleepless at night and anxious all day long.
But unexpectedly, Zhou Heng had also broken through to the Divinity Transformation Realm, even if it was at the level of physical trash! The point was, he himself, in pursuit of realm, was also an incredibly weak Divinity Transformation Heavenly Venerate, not much stronger than Zhou Heng—how could he suppress Zhou Heng?
"Ying Cheng’en, I am now quite curious, what kind of Ancient Heritage did you really get?" Zhou Heng kept swinging his fists, golden fist radiance illuminating the heavens and shaking the earth.
"Ancient Heritage?" Ying Cheng’en revealed a cold smile, "You underestimate me! You want to know how I broke through to the Divinity Transformation Realm? I’ll tell you, it’s because I, possess the ability to devour bloodlines!"
Whoosh, as he revealed this big secret, he suddenly exerted his power, his fists dancing as countless bone spurs grew and stabbed fiercely towards Zhou Heng, each one emitting a golden glow, somewhat similar to Zhou Heng’s own.
He didn’t mind spilling his own secret, for it aimed to shock Zhou Heng, thereby exposing a flaw for him to exploit.
Devouring bloodlines?
No wonder! Zhou Heng suddenly understood why this guy had created the Heaven’s Grace Sect and generously allowed its followers to possess Bloodline Power—the purpose was for him to devour it! It was just like raising pigs; when the pigs got fat, he would slaughter them!
Bloodline Power, strictly speaking, is Martial Path comprehension passed down through the bloodline generation after generation. However, Ying Cheng’en’s heritage did the opposite, by devouring vast amounts of the same bloodlines, he could consolidate the origins, augmenting the already diluted bloodlines.
Even surpassing the heights reached by the Ancient Ancestors of the Ying Family!
Just one step beyond the Divinity Transformation Realm is Immortal!
Zhou Heng had to admit that the creator of this technique was a genius, but there’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world. What would be the outcome for those whose bloodline power had been devoured?
It was bound to be incredibly tragic, at best their cultivation would be completely wasted, at worst they would lose their lives!
Otherwise, why would such a technique have been lost to time, with Ying Cheng’en the only inheritor remaining now?
It must have incurred the fury and resentment of the heavens and the people, and been thoroughly exterminated from the world, yet a spark of it had somehow survived and reemerged in this era, ultimately reaching great achievement in Ying Cheng’en’s hands!
As for why Ying Cheng’en’s previous advancements weren’t so rapid, it’s likely because the starting point for this technique was high—it required at least the Nascent Soul Realm. Thus, after becoming a Half-Step Immortal, he took a great leap forward. However, he was still too impatient; in his rush to succeed, he failed to establish a solid foundation.
Zhou Heng unleashed a punch. As a martial artist of the Heavenly Venerate rank based on physical prowess, he didn’t need to gather Spiritual Power. With a single punch, power coursed through him, and a golden radiance stirred up the Divine Radiance in all directions.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The two fiercely clashed in battle. Ying Cheng’en demonstrated the divine might of a Divinity Transformation Realm Heavenly Venerate to its fullest, utilizing techniques that only a Heavenly Venerate could execute, each with formidable power. This was the essential difference between a Spiritual Power-based Heavenly Venerate and a physical prowess-based Heavenly Venerate. Martial Arts Techniques could amplify a martial artist’s battle power tenfold or even a hundredfold, with astonishing lethal force.
Had it been anyone else, they might have already crumbled under such bombardment, but Zhou Heng not only possessed the brute strength of a Heavenly Venerate but also a body as sturdy as a Divinity Transformation Realm Magic Artifact! Not to mention Ying Cheng’en, even if the Great Eternal Emperor were to be resurrected, it would be impossible to harm Zhou Heng with mere strength.
Their fight was inherently unequal; although Ying Cheng’en exerted his full power, all his efforts were in vain.
"Ahh—" He let out a scream of agony, because in getting too close in an attempt to bring forth greater battle power, he was countered by Zhou Heng’s opportunistic punch to the chest. A heavy thump resonated, and three Divine Bones broke, creating a conspicuous dent on his chest.
Boom—an overpowering blow sent him flying backwards, creating ripples in the air akin to those on water, propagating upwards and downwards.
"Enjoy that punch?" Zhou Heng laughed heartily, pushed off the ground, and charged forward, pursuing Ying Cheng’en.
"Spare me your bragging!" Ying Cheng’en bellowed in anger, his Spiritual Power circulating to quickly mend his injuries.
Zhou Heng had already caught up to him and landed another punch, this time on Ying Cheng’en’s head.
Ying Cheng’en mustered his Spiritual Power in defense, a Divine Radiance surged and quivered. Suddenly, his body zipped into the earth, vanishing without a trace. Boom—he burst up from the ground shortly after, his face contorted with immense rage.
Zhou Heng’s strength was rooted in his physique; his power was at best on par with Ying Cheng’en’s, if not slightly weaker. Hence, when Ying Cheng’en activated his Spiritual Power for defense, Zhou Heng couldn’t easily break through his protective shield of Spiritual Power.
But although this strike didn’t cause Ying Cheng’en physical harm, it sure made him look utterly ridiculous.
"That’s what you call a ’dust face’!" Zhou Heng stated, his tone incredibly calm, yet this extreme composure drove Ying Cheng’en into a tremendous fury. In his opponent’s eyes, he was not even worth being a rival. Defeating him was taken for granted; so, what was there to gloat about?
"Bastard!" Ying Cheng’en roared out loud, his fists danced, and Divine Light blossomed all over the sky. In an instant, he unleashed countless ultimate moves, powerful enough to obliterate a thousand, ten thousand Nascent Soul Realm experts a hundred times!
But what was the use of such powerful attacks against Zhou Heng’s defense?
"Hmm?" Zhou Heng was slightly taken aback as he sensed the recovery rate of his Spiritual Power inside him suddenly increase, melting like icicles, swiftly turning into a gushing fountain and eventually a mighty river within him, circulating endlessly.
The effects of the Black Snow Powder had finally been neutralized!
Although it wasn’t completely gone, at this rate, it would take no more than ten minutes to fully eradicate any lingering influence.
With the Swift Cloud Radiant Step underfoot, Zhou Heng’s Spiritual Power had only recovered a tenth or so, but combined with his own brutal strength, his speed still increased by three or fourfold, rapidly closing in on Ying Cheng’en with a punch aimed straight for his face.
Bang!
Ying Cheng’en hadn’t expected Zhou Heng’s speed to suddenly increase. Caught off guard, he was struck squarely, with blood gushing from his nose, his entire face grotesquely twisted. How could he have known Zhou Heng was previously affected by the Black Snow Powder, which nullified his Spiritual Power? He thought Zhou Heng was just toying with him, which made him feel enraged and frustrated.
"Despicable rogue!" He let out a long howl to the sky, his voice reverberating, turning into a roaring dragon, spinning wildly. Ying Cheng’en suddenly turned and leaped toward Lanling City, shouting as he went, "Zhou Heng, even though I can’t contend with you now, I will devour more bloodline powers and become truly the strongest! Then, your time of death will come!"
"But for now, I’ll slaughter your woman and kin, leaving you to await death in agony!"
His movement technique was much faster than the speed of sound. By the time Zhou Heng heard his words, Ying Cheng’en was already a hundred miles away.
Zhou Heng hurried in pursuit, but although he had regained some of his Spiritual Power, it hadn’t fully recovered. After all, he was a Heavenly Venerate based on physical strength, and his speed couldn’t possibly match Ying Cheng’en’s. Having pursued only a few steps, Ying Cheng’en had already disappeared from his view.
However, Zhou Heng wasn’t worried. The Zhao Family had two great Heavenly Gods. One was the Moon Shadow Saintess, whose power was assuredly on the verge of full recovery, capable of rivaling Ying Cheng’en. She owed Zhou Heng a favor, and having spent so many days in the Zhao Family, it was impossible for her to stand by idly.
Besides, there was Huo Tian, the Peerless Heavenly Maiden whom even the Poisonous Vast Heavenly Venerate avoided provoking. If Ying Cheng’en crossed her, it would surely be asking for trouble!
Despite thinking this, Zhou Heng still quickened his pace towards the Zhao Family. As his Spiritual Power restored more and more, his speed also increased. In seven or eight minutes, Lanling City was already in his line of sight. (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, you are welcome to vote and support it on Qidian (qidian.com).
