Shocking the Nine Heavens With My Sword
Chapter 380 - 366 - Crossing the Sea (1/3)

Chapter 380: 366 Chapter Crossing the Sea (1/3)

"You tried to steal my things, so I plundered you! You didn’t plan to kill me, so I spared your lives, are you convinced?" Zhou Heng said to the seven people.

"Convinced! Convinced!" Murong Yuan and the others nodded continuously. In this world, strength truly ruled, and initially, they had forced Zhou Heng to hand over the Immortal Technique and the Immortal Sword because they outnumbered him and were stronger.

But now, his individual strength far surpassed their combined might. They had to be convinced even if they didn’t want to be!

Falling into the hands of that despicable donkey, stripped naked and positioned to expose their backsides, was this a joke? Even if they could survive, they would carry an indelible shadow for life, needing to find some remote corner to live out their remaining years.

The seven people scattered and retreated, and Black Donkey then pounced forward, opening its huge mouth to bite at Zhou Heng, wanting to share the spoils with Zhou.

After a scramble, Zhou Heng obtained four Space Artifacts, while Black Donkey only got three, but the collections of those seven people surely varied—having four didn’t necessarily mean more, and having three also didn’t necessarily mean less.

Black Donkey was very pleased, taking out a cloak and draping it over its body, pretentiously swishing its donkey tail.

"Donkey, are you sure you didn’t enter the wrong belly at birth?" Zhou Heng joked.

"Dare to laugh at your Donkey Master? I’ll bite you to death, woof woof woof!" Black Donkey barked strangely, chasing after Zhou Heng to bite him.

Zhou Heng laughed heartily, but his mind began to ponder. Since the disturbance here began, he and Black Donkey definitely weren’t the first to arrive, but where were the people who came before? Did they all go back?

Impossible!

Just like on the Fairy Continent where restrictions stopped people’s progress, who was willing to leave? Everyone was still wandering around, none willing to give up.

Here, he believed it was the same.

So where had these people gone?

Zhou Heng’s figure soared into the air, looking around. This was a sea cape, with rising cliffs on both sides, becoming more isolated the further one extended outward. Trying to cross the sea from there seemed more like suicide.

The sea cape was only about ten miles in length; with the vision of the Nascent Soul Realm, he could clearly see that besides himself and Black Donkey, there were no other people around.

Zhou Heng preferred to believe that the people before had figured out a way to begin crossing the sea!

One or two, perhaps they had powerful treasures on them, but not a single person staying behind—what did that imply?

"Donkey, look around here, is there a boat?" Zhou Heng said.

"Huh?" Black Donkey extended its hoof, scratching its head, looking completely baffled.

How could there possibly be a boat here?

But it also believed that Zhou Heng wouldn’t speak without a basis, so it split up with Zhou to search, but after a complete round, both the man and the donkey found nothing.

Zhou laddie, how did you think there would be a boat here?" Black Donkey asked.

"If there wasn’t a boat, how did the people before us cross over?" Zhou Heng said, his gaze wandering, still searching around. When his gaze swept over a certain spot, his face suddenly broke into a smile.

"Zhou laddie, your smile is so sneaky!"

"Hearing that word from you, why do I find it odd?"

"Cut the chatter, quickly tell me what you found?"

Zhou Heng laughed heartily, pointing with his hand, saying, "There!"

"What?" Black Donkey looked over, but found nothing, an empty stretch.

Zhou Heng sighed and said, "Donkey, you’re even dumber than I imagined!"

"Dare to call me dumb, I’ll bite you to death!" Black Donkey cried out in anger, proclaiming, "I am the smartest Divine Donkey under heaven and above earth!"

"You still don’t believe it when I say you’re dumb!" Zhou Heng shook his head, pointing to the place he had just indicated, "There, really nothing there?"

"No, isn’t it just a forest that has been cut down?" Black Donkey said unconcernedly.

"No wonder they use ’dumb donkey’ to describe stupidity, there really is a reason!" Zhou Heng murmured.

"Zhou laddie, if you dare call me a dumb donkey again, I’ll break off our friendship!" Black Donkey shouted, hopping madly on one side.

Zhou Heng shook his head and said, "Donkey, where did those trees go? Did someone have nothing better to do than chop them down?"

Black Donkey, ultimately not a dumb donkey, caught on and said, "They chopped down the trees to make a boat? But no, the timber here isn’t very strong, how could it possibly withstand the Sea of Fiend Qi?"

"That’s not necessarily the case; these trees grew here, perhaps they could indeed withstand the invasion of the Sea of Fiend Qi!"

"Try it!"

Black Donkey ran into the distance, flicked its tail, and a swath of forest suddenly fell to the ground.

Zhou Heng picked up a broken tree, threw it with a swing of his arm, and the big tree fell into the sea, bobbing up and down amidst the churning Sea of Fiend Qi, yet it remained undamaged.

"Zhou, it really works!" Black Donkey suddenly burst into laughter, then puffed out its chest and raised its head, vainly saying, "I indeed am wise and mighty, even Donkey Master thought of this, ah, how can there be such an extremely intelligent Divine Donkey in this world!"

The wretched donkey then stood on its hind legs, front hooves on hips, constantly wiggling its rear end, full of pride.

Zhou Heng couldn’t be bothered to deflate this shameless donkey, thick-skinned as a city wall. He trimmed the trees smoothly and then intertwined several branches together to make ropes, binding the logs together into a raft.

He didn’t just make a single raft but created more than a dozen at once, stowing the others into the Nine Mystic Trial Tower. Who knew if the rafts could dismantle from the relentless battering of the waves, naturally, he had to make some spares.

Even more afraid of death than he was, Black Donkey prepared at least thirty rafts before they set out with Zhou Heng, pushing the rafts into the sea and rowing into the Sea of Fiend Qi.

Once the rafts had covered some distance from the shore, an undercurrent formed in the ocean, quickly propelling the rafts forward.

Zhou Heng still found it too slow, clueless as to the sheer breadth of the sea. He slapped his right hand, sending waves of Vigorous Qi, urging the rafts to speed through the waves.

The first two days were calm, but on the third day, the sea underwent a tumultuous change. A wild wind howled, lifting waves over thirty feet high, which furiously smacked against the rafts.

Zhou Heng vibrated his arms, unleashing wave after wave of Vigorous Qi to form a defensive layer, blocking the impact of the waves. However, while the force of the waves wasn’t great, this being the Sea of Fiend Qi, its forte was the corrosion it caused, power was not the primary concern.

The Fiend Qi easily corroded the layer of Spiritual Power defense, continuing to strike the rafts, sending up all manner of bizarre shapes.

Zhou Heng had to keep releasing Spiritual Power for defense, and after striking out with Spiritual Power dozens of times, he managed to block the wave of Fiend Qi. But the waves were relentless; no sooner had one wave calmed when another surged, another giant wave slamming their way.

Normally, Zhou Heng could sustain a Spiritual Power shield for up to ten or twenty minutes before it broke. But now, he had to renew it every second, with his consumption of Spiritual Power increased manyfold!

Even though he had already entered the Nascent Soul Realm and his Spiritual Power was ceaseless, he still felt the consumption too great and had to take out an Upper Grade Spirit Stone to hold in his hand for Refinement, to replenish his rapidly depleting Spiritual Power.

He had seized it from Murong Yuan and her group; the Upper Grade Spirit Stones in the Nine Mystic Trial Tower had already been exhausted by the Ten Refinement Diagram.

Even with an Upper Grade Spirit Stone in hand, Zhou Heng still felt the outflow was greater than the intake, and had to take turns with Black Donkey. But Black Donkey had not yet reached the Nascent Soul Realm, its Spiritual Power far inferior to his. Zhou could persist for half an hour; it could only manage a minute before needing to switch.

This was not good news; both the man and the donkey were heavily depleting their energies, and after a day and a night, they were both as exhausted as dead dogs, their Spirit Seas nearly depleted.

"It’s over, I might really die here!" Black Donkey, tongue lolling, listlessly said, "Zhou, Donkey Master can’t be your son’s god-grandfather anymore!"

"Get lost!" Zhou Heng nearly couldn’t resist kicking the shameless donkey into the sea; he secretly decided that when their power was exhausted, despite the complete damage it could do to the Nine Mystic Trial Tower, he would take Black Donkey inside to recover their Vitality.

—If a person dies, then everything is gone.

"Damn heavens, have you had enough! I am the Auspicious Omens of Heaven and Earth; I cannot die here!" Black Donkey cried out again toward the blue sky.

"Wretched donkey, the heavens probably don’t apply here!" Although in such a dangerous situation, Zhou Heng still maintained a good attitude, joking with Black Donkey.

"Ah, this is forcing me to risk my life!" Black Donkey, pained expression on its face, took out a dark blue horn, already missing half, but Zhou Heng immediately felt a powerful imposing force.

"You wretched donkey, having something good and not bringing it out sooner!" Zhou Heng exclaimed in anger.

"Hehe, hehe," Black Donkey laughed guiltily, then blew on the horn, and instantly, waves rippled out, transforming into blue bulls that charged at the Fiend Qi.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The blue bulls were formidable. With one charge, a gaping hole burst through the Fiend Qi waves. Dozens of blue bulls repeatedly charged, finally quelling a tidal wave. However, the Fiend Qi wasn’t for nothing; it also corroded the bulls significantly.

"Whoo—" Black Donkey blew the second horn sound, facing the seemingly endless giant waves.

This horn was at least at the level of a Divinity Transformation Realm Treasure, possibly even an Immortal Object! Sadly, it was damaged. If it were whole, perhaps one blow might have stirred the entire sea to boil.

Zhou Heng thought, didn’t he have a complete Immortal Object in his hands?

The Black Sword was broken, aside from being a bit sharp and sturdy, usually showing no special capabilities—clearly useless here. But apart from the Black Sword, he also had the Ten Refinement Diagram and the Hundred Ghosts Sword.

The Ten Refinement Diagram consumed too many Spirit Stones to be sustainable for long, but the Hundred Ghosts Sword... he had forgotten about the Hundred Ghosts Sword, assuming that since the Nine Mystic Trial Tower was corroded, all Immortal Objects would be unable to withstand the Fiend Qi.

He forgot, however, that the Hundred Ghosts Sword did not need to directly touch this Fiend Qi.

Zhou Heng flicked his right hand, and the Hundred Ghosts Sword was already in his grasp. He swung the sword rapidly, this time not needing any Sword Intent, only to unleash the unique attributes of this Immortal Sword.

Shoo, shoo, shoo, the silhouettes of ghosts appeared, charging towards the waves of Fiend Qi. (To be continued.
