Chapter 340: Chapter 349 Let’s Get Married

Xu Qigang’s deep eyes seemed to harbor a vortex as he looked at her intently.

He had no desire to let her go out; he wished he could lock her by his side every moment. By mid-morning, his thoughts had already drifted back to her.

"When will you go back?"

"I’ve only been here for half a day!" Sheng Ning was reluctant to leave.

"It’s one night plus half a day!" Captain Xu had calculated very clearly.

"Then I don’t want to go back either."

"Qigang..." Sheng Ning felt particularly feeble. Yet, ironically, it was he who regained his composure first—it was so unfair.

"What did you call me?"

"Qigang... Qigang..."

"No!" The man was dissatisfied.

"Say it, what do you call me?" His profound eyes flickered with flames as he looked at her unwaveringly.

"My dear, my dear..." She wanted to kiss him, but Xu Qigang, mischievously, wouldn’t let her. Sheng Ning had no choice but to keep repeating, "My dear, my dear..."

"You’re the naughty one!" He sighed helplessly and embraced her tightly in his arms.

"I am too!" Sheng Ning breathed in the pleasant scent of his body. A woman only takes the initiative with the man she loves.

Everyone says that the one who falls in love first loses themselves. But she didn’t see it that way—she was more than willing to lose herself for him.

As long as she could be with him, she was willing.

"Let’s get married over the New Year’s!"

"Okay."

"Are you hungry?"

"Uh-huh! A little hungry! Shall we go to the canteen for food?" She had intended to cook herself, but after a long search, not even an onion was found, so she gave up.

"No!" Xu Qigang murmured in a hoarse and deep voice.

"What should we do then? I’m hungry and need to eat."

"We’ll go to town to eat." Xu Qigang touched his nose awkwardly, "Just wait for me, I’m going to take a quick shower." After saying that, he released her and dashed into the bathroom with clothes in hand.

In less than a minute, the sound of running water echoed from inside.

Laughter of contentment came from the living room; the man who had just taken a cold shower. His usually unyielding facial features slowly softened, his lips curling into a faint smile.

His little wife was truly wonderful.

After getting ready, the two headed out one after the other. Neighbors along the way wanted to greet them, but faced with the Living Yama’s stern face, no one dared to approach.

Sheng Ning followed after Xu Qigang like a recently married little wife, a gentle smile on her face. Not having to deal with gossip felt great! Who knew having a cold, stoic husband would have its perks?

As the couple walked away, the idle families nearby gathered to gossip.

"Did you see? The Captain’s wife is really pretty!"

"Of course, she’s from the General Union Dance Troupe! What you said is utterly redundant."

"She’s even prettier than the average troupe’s."

"Yeah! So radiant, her skin looks like you could squeeze water from it."

"Of course, would our Captain’s wife be anything but exceptional?" one particularly fervent admirer stated.

"Hahaha... The Captain is really lucky. To find such a beautiful wife."

"Our Captain is not bad either! Whoever marries him is the lucky one."

The crowd looked at the fervent admirer skeptically. A beautiful flower marrying King Yan; could that ever be a good thing?

The faint-hearted might even have nightmares in the middle of the night, right?

Sheng Ning had visited the small town near the War Wolf Rescue Team before, and they walked one after the other. Xu Qigang’s tall stature and long legs meant he quickly outpaced Sheng Ning, even when trying to slow down.

"Wait for me," she called from behind.

"Hmm!"

"Give me a hand!"

"Pulling and tugging in the middle of the street, what would that look like?" Captain Xu was displeased and said uncomfortably with the onlookers’ eyes trained on them: "Just walk properly!"

"Oh!" This man truly embraced his male chauvinism.

Sheng Ning moved closer and whispered, "You dare to be fierce with me?"

Xu Qigang’s sharp gaze swept over her icily, making her shiver slightly. "You trying to rebel?"

"I wouldn’t dare, Leader!"

Eventually, Xu Qigang slowed down to wait for her, and by the time they reached the small restaurant, Sheng Ning had already stealthily grabbed his hand.

"Cough, cough..."

Sheng Ning knew it was a warning! But she pretended not to hear.

"Captain Xu, you’ve arrived? Please come in and sit." The people in the small restaurant were familiar with him and were exceedingly polite. "It’s really hard to get a chance to see you."

Being located near the rescue team’s base brought a sense of pride to the townspeople. The legendary stoic Captain had never visited before, only spotted speaking at big union events.

Dining in those times was uncomplicated, just purely about eating; ordering one or two dishes to accompany the meal was already quite a treat.

After eating, the restaurant’s owner refused to take their money, but after facing Xu Qigang’s stern look, they collected the money with trembling hands.

After leaving the small restaurant, with plenty of time to spare, Xu Qigang took her around the nearby area.

"Will there be any problems with you just coming out like this?" She had no chance to get out from the General Union, worried that her visit might delay Xu Qigang’s work.

She just missed him and wanted to see him. After spending so much time together, she was satisfied.

"I took the afternoon off!" Xu Qigang said awkwardly, slowing his pace for her to keep up.

It was cold, and Sheng Ning felt a chill, placing her hands in the warmth of his palm.

"Why are your hands so cold? Are you not dressed warmly enough?" Xu Qigang frowned in displeasure.

"It’s a constitution issue; women naturally have lower body temperatures than men."

Xu Qigang silently clenched her petite hand tighter.

Beyond the town, one side was a main road, the other a small mountain. There weren’t many people around. Xu Qigang suddenly pulled her into his warm embrace.

Enveloping her entire body.

"Don’t come out when it’s cold," he muttered.

"Okay!" That was concern! Just now he wouldn’t even hold hands, and now, with no one around, he wanted to hug her. "You’re learning bad habits, Living Yama."

"Is that so?" Once married, he’d show her what ’bad’ really was. "It’s too cold; I should take you back."
