Chapter 73: Chapter 73

Everyone’s eyes darted at Bertha, whose hands and feet were covered with mud. She held the key in her hand, and her eyes were bloodshot, full of rage because Madeline forced her to dip her hands and feet into that dirty pond.

"Oh my, you’re finally here!" Tia said. "You can unlock Ethan yourself. But it’s okay. The winner is clear as day."

Bertha looked at Ethan, who had lost all of his fruit. She knew that she wouldn’t win if she didn’t confront Madeline. So she pointed at Madeline and yelled, "That snake is a fucking cheater!"

"Cheater?" Tia was surprised, but Madeline didn’t seem to budge. Tia turned her head towards Madeline and asked, "Is that true, Madeline? Did you cheat?"

Madeline crossed her arms and asked back, "Then elaborate on how I cheated. I feel like I’m playing the game as fairly as possible."

"Fair? You did something to the megabats! You also seduced the snake charmer, so they won’t help me!" Bertha accused.

"That’s just part of the game to put obstacles, no? The puzzles are easy. That’s why we tinker with it," Madeline argued. "Besides, you also did the same, Bertha. You snatched the toy cars from the baby monkeys and threw them into the pond. That’s just cruel, you know that, right?"

Bertha gritted her teeth. "Then how about the key? There are many eyewitnesses. Jasmin and those cameramen as well! You stole my key and threw it into the pond!"

"Oh no, stealing is not allowed..." Tia said. "I may have to disqualify you from this game, Madeline."

Madeline wasn’t scared at all, as she replied, "I didn’t steal. I just happened to find it while searching for mine. You guys make the puzzle way too easy for me to figure out, so it’s not my fault, I get it."

"Ah, if you accidentally find it, then there’s no problem," Tia sighed.

"Wait—NO!" Bertha continued arguing. She knew she would be eliminated next, so she tried to disqualify Madeline, no matter how. "Then why do you need to throw my key into the pond?"

"Oh, it’s because it’s not mine," Madeline said. That’s why I must return it to its original place, right? But sadly, I’m pretty dumb, so I forgot which statue the key was hidden from. So I just threw it in the pond for you to search."

"You could’ve just given it to me!" Bertha yelled.

"You’re not my friend, Bertha. And why would I help an enemy?" Madeline said coldly. She looked at Tia and added, "You can disqualify me now. I don’t mind at all. But you see how Ethan literally has nothing in his hand right now? So, if you disqualify me..."

"You will have me as the winner," Jasmin chuckled. She looked at Bertha maliciously and said, "There’s no difference, Bertha. You’re still the one who’ll get eliminated here."

"Well, she’s right, but I’ll still give the win to Madeline because she doesn’t break any specific rule!" Tia said. She ignored Bertha, who was on the verge of tears, and congratulated Madeline and Zane. "Congratulations on the win! You will have a date in another beautiful spot in Bali!"

"And for the rest of the contestants, you will have to stay in the resort tomorrow and face elimination the day after. Remember to beg, or you’ll have to leave this place soon!"

Bertha fell on her knees.

She had done her best, yet she was defeated by Madeline again.

It wasn’t fair.

Madeline was obviously a bad woman, but because she was far prettier than her, she got off everything scot-free.

Even after she had a career-killing affair with Jonathan Hale, she somehow could still stay relevant despite the hatred.

It wasn’t fair at all for Bertha, who had been working hard but barely got any recognition.

And now, even in this stupid reality show, Madeline still got everything easy because she was pretty.

Bertha glared at Madeline with hostility, grudges, and hatred in her eyes. She couldn’t wait to claw that bitch’s face somehow. She wanted everyone to see that Madeline, without her beauty, was nothing but a vile bitch that needed to be brutally raped and murdered.

’Why do you always make my life difficult, Madeline? Why do you always have it easy?!’

"Bertha, get me out!" Ethan broke Bertha’s immersion. She turned her head and simply threw the key at Ethan so he could unlock himself.

Bertha walked past the others without an ounce of care. She didn’t even try to keep her usual meek demeanor anymore.

She was pissed.

"Where are you going, Bertha?" Tia asked. "We’re not done yet with the shooting in here, you know?"

"I don’t give a damn. I’m tired," Bertha said before she walked out of the Alas Kedaton Monkey Forest and sat inside their car.

Ethan also did the same. He unlocked his cage and stomped his feet out of the shooting set.

"You too, Ethan?" Tia asked.

"Yes, I can’t wait to get out of this place, anyway. You are all being unfair!" Ethan yelled. "You are biased for Madeline because of what? Is it because she’s the source of drama?"

Madeline raised her brow at Ethan. She just smiled, but she decided not to entertain his complaints.

"Well, there goes another one," Tia sighed. "I don’t understand. You two win fair and square. The staff would’ve called you out if you actually cheated."

"What a sore loser," Jasmin said. "Madeline is smart, and Zane is strong. Of course, they make a dream team."

"But we’re also a dream team," Russel said.

"We’re the keep-dreaming team," Jasmin jokes. "You got to do something more to impress me, Russel."

Russel lowered his head. He was trying his best, but he was no match against Zane, who was much stronger than him.

Russel glanced at Zane, whose eyes were glued to Madeline. He looked so dedicated to her, making him wonder if they were dating before this reality show.

Then he glanced at Jasmin, who wasn’t bothered by whether they’d win or not.

But he was unsettled.

He wanted to impress Jasmin because, all this time, they were partnering because neither had any choice.

’I swear I will win the final and impress her!’ Russel told himself.
