She Becomes A Hot Sensation After A Scandalous Affair -
Chapter 235
Chapter 235: Chapter 235
Madeline reluctantly tossed aside the longer skirt, bracing herself to wear a skimpy dress more suited to a red-light district prostitute than an actress.
"This is fine, Madeline. This is what everyone wants to see. They don’t want to see you being modest or proper. They just want something to hate, so you have to give them that to stay revelant," she convinced herself, though tears already welled up.
She was brought up as a proper lady. Her mother taught her to hide her body from the predators in Hollywood since she was a child actress with no backing.
So, wearing something so revealing and acting like a skank was a choice she never wanted to make in her life.
It was desperation that pushed her to this point.
Madeline faced herself in the mirror, her expression changing dramatically as she slipped into the role of the slutty character she would play for the rest of her life.
Madeline smirked as she saw her reflection and said confidently, though her confidence was forced, "Jon is just one of the men I slept with. He has no value to me."
Madeline kept her smirk for a few more seconds before her expression crumbled, and she wept in agony.
"Why do I have to do this?" Madeline told herself. "I’m not a skank. Jon was my first in everything; it’s not my fault I thought he was single..."
In the end, Madeline wiped her tears once more. After many years of hiding, she continued practicing her poses for the upcoming interview.
She didn’t want to do it, but she had no choice because money was tight.
After her father squandered half of her earnings through gambling, she was left with no option but to take drastic measures to support her family.
"You can do this, Madeline Rose. This is for your family!" Madeline told herself even though she was weeping inside.
"Okay, cut!"
—Hot Sensation Scene #2 End–
"That’s another great scene. I see no problem with it," Lance said. "You can rest now, Olga."
"T—Thank you, Sir," Olga said while wiping her real tears. She stared at the real Madeline, who looked depressed, and guilt flooded through Olga once again.
’Had I known Madeline Rose had to endure all this? I wouldn’t be her anti-fan,’ Olga regretted. ’But what’s the point of regret now? It already happened, and I can only ask for her forgiveness.’
"You should rest, Maddy," Lance suggested. "I’m worried about you."
Madeline wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes. "I’m alright. I’m just overwhelmed by how realistic Olga’s portrayal of me is. This all happened after I realized that I needed to make money somehow."
"Well, desperate time calls for desperate measures. I have to do it," Madeline shrugged. "I hope you don’t find me embarrassing."
"What are you talking about? You’re far from embarrassing!" Lance reassured her. "I think seeing this side of you with my own eyes gives me a newfound respect for you because you’re truly a strong woman, Madeline Rose."
"I cried a lot, though," Madeline admitted.
"Doesn’t matter. You’re still a strong woman at heart," Lance insisted. "Though, you don’t need to be one with me now. Because I will make sure to protect you."
"I know you can protect me. That’s why I’m sticking with you," Madeline giggled mischievously. "Anyway, let’s finish all the scenes today, and then we can go home. Working as a director is far more tiring than I expected."
"Let’s get this over with and go home, alright?" Lance smiled. "Oh, I have a surprise for you."
"A surprise?"
"Yes, but I’m not sure if you’ll like it. But this will give you closure, at least," Lance said.
Madeline got curious, so she nodded, and they continued filming the scenes for the day.
**
Since Olga was good at her job, all the staff, including Madeline and Lance, could wrap up today’s shooting earlier than expected.
"So, what kind of surprise do you have?" Madeline asked excitedly. "And please don’t tell me it’s one of your luxury items again. You know it doesn’t make me feel good..."
Lance had a contemplative gaze as he stared at the road in front, "Do you want to know the bad or the good news first?"
"Bad," Madeline replied quickly.
"Then, I’ll tell you some grim news," Lance paused for a moment. "About your request to find your father..."
Madeline held her breath as she didn’t know what to expect.
She had asked him to find her father because she didn’t want that bastard to create trouble now that Madeline was dating Lance.
But at the same time, she missed him.
She didn’t want to accept him back. She just wanted to know if he was at least alive.
"Recently, I learned that your father was involved with the casino mafia. He had so much debt borrowed from those loan sharks. He got targeted by many, and... he died roughly a year ago."
Madeline gasped.
She stared at Lance in disbelief, "H—He died? How did you know? Did you find his grave?"
Lance shook his head, "It’s a little disturbing, but he is a no-name victim of a murder, and since nobody collected his body, he got preserved and became a cadaver for medical students."
Madeline went quiet after that.
She knew that her father was such an asshole, but she wondered if this was the end that she wanted for him.
"Maddy?" Lance called her name because she had been unresponsive. "Are you okay? Do you need us to go somewhere to clear your head?"
Madeline lowered her head. She fiddled with her fingers and murmured, "Just bring me home."
Lance couldn’t stay still as he saw that Madeline didn’t talk after he dropped the bomb. So when they stopped at a red light, he apologized, "I’m sorry, babe. I shouldn’t have told you about it."
"No, it’s fine," Madeline shook her head. "You did what I asked for. I’m just shocked by the news."
