Chapter 179: Chapter 179

A month had flown by since Madeline began filming "Psycho Moth" with Zane and their other co-stars.

Though Madeline and Zane were extremely talented and could finish all of their scenes without a retake, the other co-stars struggled to catch up with their professionalism and talent. Director Patton only smiled and was at ease when there was a scene between Windy and Troy.

Such as this.

—Psycho Moth Scene #70–

"How’s your day, babe?" Troy asked as he placed a steaming cup of hot chocolate on the table.

Windy had just finished a terrible day at work because of another murder that only led her to a dead end.

This bastard, Psycho Moth, was almost like the modern and more advanced version of the Zodiac Killer.

He kept giving cryptic messages, taunting the police force and detectives, yet his murderous rampage hadn’t been quenched.

There was at least one murder per week coming from him, sometimes two.

"They scolded me because I can’t find this Psycho Moth," Windy murmured. She sipped the hot chocolate and leaned on Troy’s arm for emotional support. "I tried my best, okay? I don’t know why this Psycho Moth is so elusive and cunning."

"Maybe you need to resign from your job, babe," Troy suggested.

Windy turned her head to look at her boyfriend. She stared at him as if he suddenly became an alien who spoke an unknown language.

"What are you saying? Of course, I can’t do that! Being a detective is my dream job, and I’m not giving up searching for this Psycho Moth!"

"But you seem stressed out..." Troy said softly. "I mean, you can just be a stay-at-home girlfriend, right? We can spend time together, all day and night, twenty-four seven."

"And you don’t need to worry about money. I made enough for us to live comfortably for the rest of our lives," Troy continued. "Y—You know, I can also buy a house once we’re married..."

"You’re speaking crazy right now, Troy," Windy said with a frown. "Even after we get married, I will never resign from my job."

"Even if that means we will break up?" Troy asked.

Windy was taken aback by Troy’s extreme reaction just because she refused to resign.

"Troy, it’s not like that. I just—I can’t be a homemaker. It’s not my dream, and I’ve told you that before, right? Don’t say things like that. You’re hurting me!"

Troy lowered his head and nodded weakly. "I’m sorry. I don’t know why I said that..."

Taking a moment to collect herself, Wendy took a deep breath to calm herself. She knew that she was being cruel to Troy since she barely had any time with him.

"I’m sorry, Troy. I will find a way to spare time for us later..." Windy offered sincerely. She then walked to the bathroom to take a shower.

Troy watched the bathroom door, and his gaze darkened as he knew that ’spare time’ would never come.

Even before Psycho Moth was born, Windy never had time for him. She was always busy anyway.

"That means I will keep this for a while, Windy. After all, I’m craving for your attention."

"CUT!"

—Psycho Moth Scene #70 End—

Director Patton ended the scene with a big smile, "As usual, a perfect scene without any retake! You two are frickin’ genius!"

Madeline thanked the director and excused herself to her room.

She thought Zane would ignore her as usual, so she didn’t even try to look at him after the filming ended.

But to her surprise, he actually grabbed her wrist while they walked in the corridor and said, "Madeline, wait!"

Madeline halted her step and turned around while slowly pulling her hand away. "W—What is it, Zane?"

Zane stared at Madeline with a wronged expression, as if Madeline did something that made him upset again.

"What did you tell the staff about your mother? How come I can’t visit her anymore?"

"What’s the point of you visiting her?" Madeline scoffed. "So you can poison her mind with your lies? Of course, I will forbid you from ever visiting her again; you’re toxic, Zane Eastwood."

Zane’s gaze turned icy, as he knew Madeline would never look at him unless he did something.

"I told your mother everything about Lance. Including his numerous sexual adventures. He’s a promiscuous bastard, and she’s vehemently against you dating him."

"That doesn’t change a thing, you piece of shit," Madeline said sharply. "I will stay with him and find a way to make my mom listen."

"You aren’t this hostile towards me before you get together with Lance, Maddy," Zane said. "You used to be so kind and loving towards me before."

"I wouldn’t change my opinion about you if you didn’t go batshit insane and dragged my mother into our problem. You shot yourself in the foot," Madeline said. "If you have nothing else to say, please excuse me. I’d rather lock myself in my private space than continue this conversation with you."

As Madeline walked away, Zane threatened with malice, "I won’t let you go, Madeline Rose. I’ll announce our relationship, maybe even marriage, to the world, so you can’t deny me, or your career will be ruined."

Madeline clenched her fist. She was both agitated and disappointed at Zane. How could someone she once cared for be so cruel?

But at this point, she had shed all of her reluctance. If Zane didn’t plan to stop this insanity, she would do the same.

"I’d like to see you try. I don’t give a damn if my career is ruined," Madeline said. She opened the door, and before she left, she continued, "I’ve been ruined once by Jon. So I don’t really care if I have to go through the same shit again because of you. After all, I have Lance now. I have a good support system to help me weather any storm."

Madeline slammed the door, leaving Zane shocked by her answer.

"You are testing my patience, Madeline Rose," Zane said. "If that’s what you want, then this will not be an empty threat. I will teach you a lesson."
