Chapter 157: Chapter 156: Looking for Trouble

To Qi Younian, talking about anything else might not matter, but he couldn’t stand anyone speaking ill of Ye Xinyan and Cheung Wusi.

Ye Xinyan had not been with him for long, but what a good, kind-hearted child she was—he truly regarded her as his own flesh and blood. Cheung Wusi was the same, not to mention their similar temperaments, a brother whose head he’d knock on the ground for, someone he could trust with his life on the battlefield.

Qi Younian’s face darkened, "What did you say? Say it one more time!"

Qi Yourong also got angry. There he went again with his intimidation—an act of fierce brutality. If he had the guts, he should just kill him. Moreover, with Qi Yougui in between them, he did not believe that his eldest brother would actually stand by and watch the second brother beat him.

"You heartless beast, unworthy of being human, not even taking care of your own parents. I dare to repeat a thousand, ten thousand times, what am I afraid of..."

Qi Younian’s face turned an iron blue. Just as he was about to reach out and grab Qi Yourong by the collar, Cheung Wusi sitting opposite Yourong made his move.

All they saw was Cheung Wusi lean forward, raise his fist, and punch Qi Yourong in the face, almost knocking over the bowls and dishes in front of him.

Qi Yourong, unable to withstand a beating and caught off guard, was hit by the punch, immediately seeing stars and falling to one side.

Cheung Wusi didn’t stop. Before Qi Yougui could react, he stood up with a leap, bypassed Qi Younian and Qi Yougui, and picked up Qi Yourong to land another punch on his cheek.

Only after delivering that punch did he let go, allowing Qi Yourong to fall onto the kang. He even followed up with two more kicks, viciously aiming at Qi Yourong’s buttocks. Fortunately, since everyone was sitting on the kang and their feet were shoeless, the kicks were less forceful.

Ye Xinyan heard Qi Yourong shouting in the house, which wasn’t surprising, but she thought of coming in to have a look, not to let her own grandfather be at a disadvantage.

Then she saw Cheung Wusi rise in anger, and took great satisfaction in seeing him beat up Qi Yourong. Cheung Wusi was already tall, and standing on the kang at that moment, he seemed to almost touch the ceiling, his face still livid with anger, glaring fiercely at Qi Yourong.

Wong Qiao turned around the table, protecting the kang table and the spread of food dishes, and even took a few kicks from Qi Yourong.

After being struck several times by Cheung Wusi, Qi Yourong did not jump up to fight back; instead, irrespective of his age, he lay on the kang wailing pitifully.

Qi Younian quietly watched Cheung Wusi hold back, then half-rose to pull Cheung Wusi back.

Qi Yougui came to his senses, checking on his younger brother and seeing no serious harm. He turned to Cheung Wusi and angrily said, "You unruly brute, attacking someone severely just like that. Bullying requires choosing the right place—do you think the Qi family clan is without people?" As he spoke, he stretched out his hand to shove Cheung Wusi, causing him to stagger.

Qi Younian stood in front of Cheung Wusi, facing Qi Yougui, "Big brother, this is my fault. Wusi acted because of me. If you have any anger, direct it at me. I will take it."

Qi Yougui, shaking with anger as his brother had been beaten, pointed at Qi Younian with a trembling finger, "Yourong is your own brother, and you just stand there watching him get beaten at his old age?"

Qi Yougui’s stern rebuke did not impress Ye Xinyan, who inwardly curled her lip. Was it her fault that Qi Yourong, for all his age, was asking for a beating?

Qi Younian pushed Cheung Wusi into a seat and lowered his head towards Qi Yougui, "Yourong is my legitimate brother, so I can be tolerant towards him many times. Wusi is also my brother, and though not of the same blood, we have shared life and death experiences. If it weren’t for Wusi, I would have lost my life long ago. The bond he has with me is no less than that of siblings."

Cheung Wusi also coldly sneered at one side, "Big brother of the Qi family, don’t you see whether your third brother deserves the title ’brother’?"

Qi Yougui slammed the table and shouted angrily, "This is the Qi family’s business, whether one deserves the title ’brother’ is not for an outsider like you to decide."

Cheung Wusi smiled dismissively, "Wusi has said his piece. What do you want to do about it, big brother of the Qi family?" As he spoke, he laughed and lifted his eyebrows at Qi Yougui, showing no concern for Qi Yougui’s towering rage.

Qi Yougui’s anger rose, and he lunged towards Qi Younian, who was sitting between the two, ready to stand up immediately.

Qi Younian put strength in his hands and held back Qi Yougui. Qi Yougui exclaimed in shock and anger, "Second brother, what are you doing? Your own blood brother has been beaten, and yet you side with an outsider?"

At this moment, Qi Yourong, supported by Wong Qiao, got up. He covered his swollen jaw, pushed Wong Qiao away with a shove, and barked, "Don’t touch me; I don’t need your pretense of kindness." Leaning behind Qi Yougui, he dared not provoke Cheung Wusi again, but pointed at Qi Younian and said, "Second brother, you are inhuman. After being absent for so many years, you finally come back, and instead of looking after your own brother, you help an outsider beat up your own. How can you face our parents?"

Qi Younian, still holding back Qi Yougui, glanced several times at his two brothers before letting go and said, "Yourong is right; perhaps I have lost the true meaning of brotherhood, having spent so much time away."

"Wusi is not only my sworn brother, but he has also risked his life for me, having shielded me from knives and arrows. Even when the fight broke out just now, he was standing up for me."

Qi Younian looked seriously at Qi Yougui and asked, "Regardless of whether he’s qualified, Yourong is still my brother from the same mother. But tell me, big brother, is Yourong the sort of person who would take a knife or arrow for anyone? Regardless of who it’s for."

Qi Yougui was at a loss for words.

Qi Yourong, still in a defensive stance, yelled, "I don’t care about all that. I’m going to find the Lizheng, find the Qi family clan. I want the villagers and the clan to back me up and kick this bastard Cheung out of Clear Water Village. Qi Younian, let me tell you, if you don’t give me an explanation, you can get lost too. After all, you also have an interim household registration. Just leave that kid Qi Jia behind, take your road allowance and that granddaughter of unknown origin, and get out of Clear Water Village."

Qi Yougui looked at Qi Yourong in shock, "How can you talk like that? He’s your second brother."

Qi Yourong shouted back, "What’s the use of such a second brother?"

Cheung Wusi puffed out his chest, "The trouble was started by me. Come at me if you want, don’t trouble my big brother. But let me tell you, you’d better smack me to death in one go because if you don’t, you’re going to have to hide in your house, hide in Clear Water Village for the rest of your life, never showing your face. Otherwise, if I see you, I’ll beat you up every time I do."

Qi Yourong’s face changed, and he quickly pulled his head back behind Qi Yougui.

"Sigh," Qi Younian heaved a sigh, glanced at Ye Xinyan, Nanny Jin, and Qi Jia standing in the room, then turned back with a smile to Qi Yourong, "Go ahead and find someone then, even take it to the government office if you like. Whatever the consequences, I’ll accept them, as long as you can see it through. When you file the complaint, don’t involve Wusi. He has a volatile temper, and you can’t afford to provoke him."

Qi Yourong glanced at Cheung Wusi, and involuntarily shrunk back a little, realizing that this was someone who slapped first and asked questions later—indeed, not someone he could afford to provoke.

Qi Younian continued, "Big brother, I was thinking that with Wusi coming here, our family was gaining another brother, which should have been a good thing. So I called you and Yourong over, hoping that we, as a family, could have a good time together. Who knew such a thing would happen? It seems Yourong was right; we don’t need a brother like that. It’s better to be without."
