Chapter 242: Is It a Love Rival That Makes You So Agitated?
Chapter 242: Chapter 242: Is It a Love Rival That Makes You So Agitated?
Su Wanxin guessed what might have taken place last night while she was asleep after hearing him speak like that.
She looked at Fu Shihan, whose face was virtually etched with the words "caught cheating," and didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
"Come here, let’s talk."
Fu Shihan repeated his earlier statement, looking at her.
Su Wanxin hesitated for a moment, then began walking toward him. Seeing this, Fu Shihan gave Mu Xinghan a smug look.
Yours?
Don’t even think about it in your next life.
Halfway to Fu Shihan, his phone rang. He casually pulled it out, frowned slightly after taking a look, and answered the call.
"What’s up?"
Sheng Qian: "Are you free tonight? It’s Chu Yang’s mother’s birthday."
"What time, and where?"
Sheng Qian: "Come over after seven, it’s at his place, I’m already here."
"Alone?"
Sheng Qian: "With my parents."
Hearing this, Fu Shihan glanced at Su Wanxin.
Su Wanxin’s lips slightly curved up, having already seen the caller ID on his phone.
After meeting Fu Shihan’s gaze, she motioned for him to continue the conversation. Then, as Fu Shihan sighed and turned away, she looked up at the sky, smiled, and walked towards the motorcycle parked by the roadside.
"Xing Han, let’s grab some food."
Su Wanxin twisted the ignition key and put on her helmet.
Fu Shihan looked back only to see Mu Xinghan swinging his long legs over to sit behind Su Wanxin. The motorcycle, roaring loudly, quickly disappeared from his view.
...
Su Wanxin rode away with Mu Xinghan, not to the hotel from last night but to a different Western restaurant.
Sitting across from each other, Mu Xinghan, observing her calm demeanor, asked curiously, "What made you suddenly want to eat steak?"
"No particular reason, just felt like eating it."
Su Wanxin idly played with the knife and fork on the table, and looking at the cold gleam of the knife, a thought crossed her mind.
I wonder how sharp this blade is; would it hurt if I slashed it across my hand?
This thought flashed through her mind and then startled her.
Su Wanxin put the knife down and turned to look at the busy traffic outside the window.
She felt exceedingly annoyed, the very bothersome kind.
Just when Fu Shihan was answering Sheng Qian’s call, she remembered what happened yesterday.
Thinking of Sheng Qian standing beside Fu Shihan’s parents, and Li Mo’s statement that he didn’t know her.
All sorts of emotions churned inside her, blending together, both sour and bitter.
Su Wanxin silently endured, cursing herself for being weak.
"When you cut your steak, can you not look as fierce as if you’re cutting up an enemy’s corpse?"
Mu Xinghan looked at the mangled steak on her plate and teased with a smile.
Su Wanxin glanced at him emotionlessly and retorted, "Keep talking, and I’ll smash the corpse on your face."
"Such fiery temper, did you eat explosives?"
"If you notice, don’t provoke me; be careful I might blow you up."
"Who was Fu Shihan on the phone with just now?" Mu Xinghan, undeterred, continued to probe: "Must be a love rival to get you this riled up, right?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Su Wanxin grabbed a napkin from the table, crumpled it, and threw it at him.
"Shut up."
The napkin hit his head and fell on his lap.
Mu Xinghan smiled as he picked it up, looking at Su Wanxin’s angry little face, knowing she was genuinely upset.
Mu Xinghan bowed his head, continued eating, and wisely kept quiet.
After the meal, they paid and left the restaurant. Su Wanxin suddenly felt like skipping work.
Fu Shihan might be waiting for her at the company, and she didn’t want to go back.
As she struggled internally between skipping work and not, someone saved her.
