Sharing Dreams with My Bestie’s Cousin
Chapter 223 - 223 We can dream together

Chapter 223: We can dream together Chapter 223: We can dream together Fang Rong hurried to get a coat and tenderly draped it over Wen Zhi, only then asking, “Miss, where are you going so early, do you need me to accompany you?”

Wen Zhi’s eyes were bloodshot, and her dreadful state made Fang Rong very worried.

“No need to accompany me” Wen Zhi pushed Fang Rong away and slowly stood up to instruct, “Su Tong will definitely be suspicious after waking up, you know how to handle it, right?”

“I know.” Fang Rong nodded.

“That’s good.” Wen Zhi picked up her bag, which she had packed with Buddha Beads beforehand, and walked out, “Wait for me to return.”

“Miss…”

Fang Rong was still uneasy and followed Wen Zhi out until she watched her get into the car and leave, then paced back and forth at the front door with a frown.

“Go to Lizhou Riverbank,” Wen Zhi told the driver.

The driver immediately adjusted the navigation.

It was almost seven when the car reached Lizhou Riverbank. Wen Zhi had been here many times; while the property staff recognized her, they still contacted the owner before allowing Wen Zhi to go in.

A few minutes later, Wen Zhi knocked on Meng Fan’s door.

The door was opened by Huaishen, his gaze sweeping over her with scrutiny, “Wen Zhi?”

Wen Zhi met Huaishen’s scrutinizing gaze with a forced smile, and when she spoke, her voice was still somewhat hoarse, “Mr. Huaishen, I apologize for disturbing you so early, I need to see Meng Fan.”

She didn’t say what it was about, but she looked very anxious.

Huaishen did not pry further because he knew that Meng Fan and Wen Zhi were very close.

When he was abroad, Meng Fan had also brought Wen Zhi to stay here.

He stepped aside to let Wen Zhi through, “Please come in.”

“Thank you.” There was a hint of apology in Wen Zhi’s tone.

Since Huaishen was at home today, Wen Zhi felt it inappropriate to go directly into the bedroom to find Meng Fan, so she sat on the sofa waiting, letting Huaishen go in to wake Meng Fan.

Meng Fan was not a morning person.

Unless it was something very important, being disturbed in the morning would make her irritated.

As now—

“Get out!”

Huaishen stood at the foot of the bed, having just woken Meng Fan, and the response he received was that extremely irritable command, “get out.”

Huaishen furrowed his brow and strode to the side of the bed, bending over to lift some of the covers, “I didn’t know you had such a temper.”

The covers were partly lifted.

Meng Fan’s hair was spread all over the pillow.

The light purple silk nightgown was supposed to have a robe, but after last night’s tumult, the robe was nowhere to be found, leaving only a low-necked slip dress. In her side-sleeping position, her breasts were pressed into a deeper cleavage.

Huaishen’s gaze traveled upward, Meng Fan’s small face hidden in her hair. An arm was thrown over the pillow with fingers slightly curled, the palm visibly reddened.

Images from the previous night surfaced in Huaishen’s mind, her hand holding his…

“Huaishen, when I count to three, cover me with the blanket!” Meng Fan spoke with her eyes closed.

Huaishen said, “Someone is looking for you.”

Meng Fan, “I’m still not awake, nobody looking for me will do any good.”

Huaishen, “Are you sure?”

“Are you done or not? Last night you were the one bothering me, and this early morning it’s you waking me up, what exactly…” Meng Fan turned over, ready to lash out at Huaishen.

But before she could fully unleash her anger, she heard Huaishen say, “Wen Zhi is here to see you.”

“What did you say?” Meng Fan suddenly sat up, her hair messy on her shoulders.

Huaishen calmly repeated, “Wen Zhi is looking for you.”

“Are you sick!” Meng Fan immediately got out of bed, slipped on her slippers, and went to get her robe.

After searching for a long while without success, Huaishen handed her a light purple silk robe from behind, “It’s here.”

Meng Fan glared at him annoyedly and snatched it over, “Are you sick?!”

Rong Huaishen’s expression darkened slightly, “You curse twice in one sentence, that’s enough.”

Meng Fan quickly put on his coat and glared at him again, “Don’t you deserve to be scolded? You should have just said Wen Zhi was looking for me when you came in, and I would have gotten up right away, but you had to provoke me before telling me the core issue, of course I’m going to scold you, jerk!”

Rong Huaishen: “…”

After putting on his pajama jacket, Meng Fan immediately left the bedroom.

“Zhizhi~”

“Sorry to have kept you waiting~”

“But really, it’s not my fault, blame that jerk Rong Huaishen!”

Meng Fan leaped over and hugged Wen Zhi, who was sitting on the couch.

Wen Zhi almost fell over from Meng Fan’s pounce, but she managed to steady herself and turned her head to say to Meng Fan, “It’s okay.”

Meng Fan instantly noticed that Wen Zhi was in a bad state, especially her eyes, which were filled with bloodshot veins.

Meng Fan was frightened and held Wen Zhi’s face with great concern, “Zhizhi, what happened to you? Why do you look… so haggard?”

He shouldn’t have asked that question.

As soon as Meng Fan asked, Wen Zhi’s emotions began to collapse.

On her way over this morning, she was constantly distracting herself, but now, with Meng Fan’s concern, she felt a sting at the tip of her nose, and her tears nearly fell.

She wanted to grab the hem of her clothes but ended up grabbing Meng Fan’s hand, and replied in a choked voice, “It’s nothing.”

“You’re almost spilling little pearls here, and still you say it’s nothing.” Meng Fan felt heartbroken and touched the back of Wen Zhi’s hand, “Tell me, who bullied you? I’ll go and avenge you, back you up.”

Wen Zhi didn’t immediately explain what had happened because Rong Huaishen was inside, and her secret couldn’t be known by too many people.

She quickly adjusted her emotions and asked Meng Fan, “Is it convenient for us to go out now?”

Meng Fan nodded, “It’s convenient, anytime is convenient.”

Following that, Meng Fan changed into his clothes, grabbed his phone, and left the house with Wen Zhi.

Once they were in the car, Wen Zhi asked the driver to get out first; all this secrecy made Meng Fan even more curious to know what was going on.

It wasn’t until Wen Zhi took out those two strings of Buddha Beads.

“Ah!”

Meng Fan was startled.

It had been a long time since he last saw Wen Zhi’s Buddha Beads.

Wen Zhi asked, “Meng Fan, did I ever tell you about the secret of these Buddha Beads?”

Meng Fan nodded immediately, “Yes.”

Wen Zhi continued, “Do you still remember what the secret was?”

Meng Fan, worried about giving the wrong answer, thought carefully before saying, “You told me these Buddha Beads can enter dreams.”

Wen Zhi pressed her lips together.

Meng Fan quickly added, “Oh right, right, you said that if two people each wear one string, they can share a dream.”

Wen Zhi nodded lightly, “That’s right.”

“Your sudden low spirits, could it be because you entered some terrible dream?” Meng Fan could only think of this reason.

“No,” Wen Zhi shook her head, she said softly, “The situation now is that these Buddha Beads can no longer enter dreams.”

“Ah? Can’t enter dreams anymore?”

“Not anymore.”

“Why? Are the Buddha Beads broken?”

“I don’t know…” Wen Zhi helpless shook her head, “I have no idea what went wrong, I don’t know why the Buddha Beads have malfunctioned, though before…”

Meng Fan understood and continued Wen Zhi’s words, “Even though we had tried before and could enter a shared dream.”
