Sharing Dreams with My Bestie’s Cousin -
Chapter 186 - 186 Will you marry me
Chapter 186: Will you marry me? Chapter 186: Will you marry me? Wen Zhi’s ears turned red, and her gaze immediately dropped as she denied, “…no.”
Shang Hexing picked up a piece of crystal dumplings and placed it on the plate in front of Wen Zhi, “Just keep me company for a bit.”
This time, his tone was much gentler.
Wen Zhi didn’t resist and ate the crystal dumplings he offered her. She continued to eat whatever he picked for her, ending up eating quite a bit.
After finishing breakfast, she still remembered to retrieve her luggage, but Shang Hexing said, “Leave the luggage behind.”
The meaning of this short sentence didn’t need to be made any clearer, yet Wen Zhi couldn’t help asking him, “Have you really stopped hating me for that day’s incident?”
Shang Hexing raised his hand to pinch Wen Zhi’s chin, “Do you think I hate you?”
Wen Zhi turned her face away and pulled her chin from his hand, “But that day you said, we should cool down and reconsider our relationship.”
Shang Hexing then asked her, “So how do you see it?”
Wen Zhi was left speechless by his question. How could she view it? It was all decided by him. He forced whenever he wanted to, and she could hardly resist.
“Wen Zhi,” Shang Hexing called her name. When Wen Zhi looked at him, he said, “I can overlook that matter, and you, stay by my side, okay?”
In this relationship between the two, he had made concessions and gestures of goodwill.
Yet, Wen Zhi shook her head, “I don’t want to stay by your side anymore.”
At her words, Shang Hexing’s face slightly cooled.
He suddenly grabbed her wrist, pulling her close and demanded, “Is it because I haven’t been good enough to you, haven’t been attentive enough, haven’t been considerate enough, or…”
Wen Zhi looked at his furious expression, holding her breath nervously.
He finished his accusation, “Or is it that you never liked me at all?”
Even he, Shang Hexing, when facing the person he liked and never getting her response, felt insecure.
He even feared hearing her actually nod and admit that she had never liked him.
What would all his efforts amount to then?
Were they merely one-sided?
“I did like you,” Wen Zhi answered.
Shang Hexing was momentarily stunned, hearing the joyously unexpected reply.
Wen Zhi continued, “If I didn’t like you, yesterday’s incident wouldn’t have happened. Shang Hexing, I do like you.”
Emotions flitted across Shang Hexing’s eyes intensely as he grasped Wen Zhi’s hand firmly, asking her word by word, “Then, would you marry me?”
Wen Zhi, however, shook her head, “No…”
“You don’t want to?”
“It’s not that I don’t want to, I have something very important to do. Once I finish this very important thing, I’ll agree to anything you say,” Wen Zhi held his hand in return.
Shang Hexing’s expression returned to calm as he stared at her, “What exactly do you want to do?”
Wen Zhi lowered her eyelids, “Something very important.”
Shang Hexing, “Take her to my mother’s grave?”
“No… I, I wasn’t thinking…” Wen Zhi began to explain, but she found it hard to articulate her thoughts.
Shang Hexing waited patiently for her explanation, yet all he received was her silence.
He suddenly let go of her hand, “You can go now.”
Wen Zhi looked at him reluctantly, his eyes indifferent, “Don’t look at me with those eyes, I’ve given you a chance, now go farther away.”
Wen Zhi was anxious, “But what about my luggage?”
Shang Hexing called Aunt Lin with a stern face, and after a few brief instructions, Aunt Lin quickly brought out Wen Zhi’s suitcase.
Wen Zhi took her suitcase, finally feeling settled.
Before she left, she turned to look at Shang Hexing sitting on the couch and whispered, “Shang Hexing, goodbye.”
