Sharing Dreams with My Bestie’s Cousin -
Chapter 131 - 131 Dont be too overbearing
Chapter 131: Don’t be too overbearing Chapter 131: Don’t be too overbearing Wen Zhi thought that Shang Hexing had allowed Chen Zhu to come in because he was already dressed and out of bed!
But what she saw upon entering was a scene with clothes strewn about in disarray, which sparked endless wild thoughts.
Especially since Shang Hexing had not only failed to get up and dress but had even taken off the wrinkled shirt he was wearing…
That sight was particularly provocative to Wen Zhi’s eyes.
“That, I, I-I… I’ll wait outside,” Chen Jinhai stammered, his first reaction being to leave the room.
“No need, go ahead,” Shang Hexing said indifferently, his gaze sweeping past Wen Zhi.
As their eyes met, he curled his lips into a lazy smile.
Wen Zhi turned her face away awkwardly.
Chen Jinhai seemed very much out of place standing there.
He hurriedly pulled out a government-issued phone from his pocket and handed it to Shang Hexing, “Mr. Shang, at 7:23, Vice President Lin called you about the introduction related to today’s meteorological theme report. At 7:28, the secretary-general of the Meteorological Services Association called…”
Chen Jinhai reported matters that were all business-related.
Wen Zhi purposefully avoided looking at him, placed the bag containing clothes down, and turned toward the entryway’s corridor.
Shang Hexing sat propped up on the bed, took the government phone from Chen Jinhai, and opened it to see there were more than a dozen missed calls. In addition, Chen Jinhai had made notes next to several numbers that required Shang Hexing to return the calls.
After completing the report, Chen Jinhai asked, “Mr. Shang, the car sent from the other party has arrived at the hotel. Will we depart on schedule at eight, or will there be a delay?”
Normally, Shang Hexing had a habit of leaving early.
But this time, he had brought Miss Wen along on his business trip, and Chen Jinhai thought it was highly unlikely they would leave early. He only hoped the delay wouldn’t be too long.
After looking at the phone, Shang Hexing casually set it aside, “No rush.”
Unexpectedly, he still heard the two words he had been most worried about.
While it didn’t necessarily mean there would be a delay, Chen Jinhai couldn’t help feeling anxious, and, not daring to say more, he turned and left first.
Once the door closed, Wen Zhi came back in.
Knowing he hadn’t dressed yet, her gaze could not bear to rest on him, and with her head bowed towards the scattered clothes, she muttered in a muted voice, “You’ll cause misunderstandings with Chen Zhu like this.”
The corners of Shang Hexing’s mouth curved into a teasing smile, and as he tilted his head leisurely toward her, picking up her clothes, he said, “You won’t give me a title, yet you won’t let me earn one for myself? Wen Zhi, don’t be too authoritarian.”
Wen Zhi paused in picking up the clothes and looked up at him.
But after making eye contact for two seconds, she quickly averted her gaze. Even though she’d seen it all in dreams, the sight of him exposed like this in reality still made her blush.
She took a deep breath and countered, “I’m not as authoritarian as you are.”
Shang Hexing said, “Look me in the eye and say that.”
“…”
Wen Zhi gathered the clothes and tossed them onto the bed, then pointed to the bag beside her, “The clothes you’re supposed to wear today are in the bag. I’m going to have breakfast downstairs.”
Shang Hexing responded indifferently, “Breakfast will be brought up here.”
Wen Zhi turned away awkwardly, “I like the atmosphere in the restaurant.”
Shang Hexing lifted the blanket, ready to rise, “I’ll join you.”
When Wen Zhi heard he would join her for breakfast, she said quickly, “But you’re about to leave, so we shouldn’t waste this time…”
Her words stopped midway as her gaze fell upon his bare upper body, her voice becoming suddenly hoarse.
Shang Hexing was not completely undressed; he wore pants and left his upper body exposed, having only just decided to take off his shirt to earn a title for himself.
He had achieved his goal.
He was in a good mood.
With a smile lingering in his gaze, he said, “Wen Zhi, please hand me my clothes.”
Wen Zhi snapped back to reality, her dark lashes fluttering lightly, “They’re right there; you can get them yourself…”
Shang Hexing leaned slightly forward, “It’s no trouble.”
His voice earnest, and with such a seductive look on his face, Wen Zhi simply couldn’t refuse him.
He was bewitching.
But who could she blame when this bewitching man charmed no one else but her?
Wen Zhi inwardly conceded, picked up the bag, and handed it to him, “Here.”
Shang Hexing didn’t take it: “You take it out for me to see.”
Wen Zhi did as he said, opened the bag, took out an entire suit, and found there were also a shirt and tie.
“A standard suit style.” She handed him the jacket: “But it suits your temperament very well, a steady and competent old fox.”
Those last three words, ‘old fox,’ she said them crisply and decisively.
Shang Hexing laughed upon hearing this: “Old fox?”
Wen Zhi countered: “Isn’t it so?”
“Fine, if you say so.” Shang Hexing didn’t mind; whatever she wanted to call him was fine by him.
While he was changing, Wen Zhi went to the balcony. When he was ready, almost on cue, the waiter with the breakfast cart arrived.
The cart was wheeled in, carrying the most authentic Cantonese dim sum from Harbor City.
Shang Hexing calmly joined Wen Zhi in finishing the breakfast before leaving the hotel. Before he left, he seemed to want to remind her of something but, fearing she would find him nagging, he simply pulled her into an embrace: “I won’t be back for lunch; try to return by three in the afternoon.”
He stated his plans briefly and precisely, letting her know.
The hug came so unexpectedly that by the time Wen Zhi realized it, she was already nestled in his embrace, her nose filled with his scent, a light mix of cold fir and pine fragrance.
“Chen Zhu must be urging you.” She reminded him.
“Not in a hurry.” He said.
Wen Zhi knew he was waiting for a response from her, so he could leave with peace of mind.
She didn’t disappoint him, leaning into his embrace she said, “I’ll wait for you at the hotel to come back.”
With her words, Shang Hexing finally let go.
Wen Zhi was about to wave goodbye when Shang Hexing pressed her hand down, then pinned it behind her, forcing her to straighten her back and naturally lift her chin up.
In the next instant, his kiss landed on her lips.
He was unrestrained and assertive, kissing her so dominantly that Wen Zhi had no chance to resist.
“Mmm…”
The hand he had pinned behind her suddenly loosened; then he turned and left decisively, leaving behind a swirl of lingering fir and pine fragrance.
Wen Zhi stared at the closed door, touching her lips with her hand, taking a long while to come back to her senses: “Bastard…”
Just then, the waiter came in to clear away the dishes.
Facing the empty suite, Wen Zhi felt somewhat bored, especially since it was still early in the morning and she had nothing to do. She planned to go out and take a walk.
But that idea was quickly extinguished.
Because she remembered she didn’t have her phone or money; without a penny on her, she could hardly make a move. Just as she sighed and was about to give up, she suddenly caught sight of a wallet on the cabinet next to her.
Wasn’t that… Shang Hexing’s wallet?
And there seemed to be more than just a wallet, there was also a phone beside it.
Wen Zhi picked up the wallet to check and confirmed it was the one he had with him when he went out with her yesterday.
As for the phone…
Wen Zhi lightly touched the screen.
After seeing the wallpaper, she also confirmed it was Shang Hexing’s personal phone that he carried with him.
But at that moment, Wen Zhi’s first thought was that Shang Hexing had left in a hurry and forgotten to take his phone and wallet!
The personal phone was very important.
She didn’t know whether he had already gotten into the car by now.
Right, what was Chen Zhu’s phone number again?
Wen Zhi suddenly remembered that the day before, Shang Hexing had told her the lock screen password, and she immediately turned on the phone, using the string of numbers in her memory to unlock the screen.
She got it right on the first try.
She found Chen Zhu’s number in the contacts and immediately called.
Just as the call was answered on the other side, Wen Zhi began to explain, “Chen Zhu, it’s Wen Zhi. The thing is…”
Before she could finish, Shang Hexing’s voice came through the phone: “The wallet and my personal phone, I left them for you.”
