Sharing Dreams with My Bestie’s Cousin -
Chapter 122 - 122 Intimate
Chapter 122: Intimate Chapter 122: Intimate Shang Hexing watched her quietly for a moment, then countered, “What do you think?”
Wen Zhi, understanding the situation, immediately said, “I will pay for all the expenses incurred while staying at your place.”
Staying at someone’s home meant causing them trouble, so of course she wanted to be conscientious.
But Shang Hexing was not very pleased, “Do you think I lack that bit of money?”
Wen Zhi explained, “I know you aren’t short of money, but it’s what I should offer.”
Shang Hexing looked away, his tone indifferent, “You don’t have to give money, you can make it up in other ways.”
“Other ways?” Wen Zhi was puzzled.
Shang Hexing let out a light chuckle, glancing at her sideways, “What do you think it could be?”
Wen Zhi caught on to his meaning, immediately covering her neckline with her hands, her expression very defensive, “You can’t have any improper thoughts about me.”
Shang Hexing’s tone was so frank, “The term ‘improper thoughts’ is probably already too subtle.”
Wen Zhi choked, swiftly changing the subject, “What time is it now?”
In the corner of the bedroom, there was a Hermle Mantel Clock, whose hour hand had already moved to two thirty in the deep of night.
After Shang Hexing told her the time, Wen Zhi could hardly believe it was so late, but when she saw the time on the clock for herself, she fell silent at once.
After a moment, Wen Zhi remembered something else she wanted to ask, Shang Hexing reminded her, “Drink some water first.”
“Oh, okay.”
Wen Zhi obediently drank the water first, her throat much more comfortable after being moistened, indeed not as dry and painful as before.
After drinking the water, Wen Zhi handed the glass back to him, then pointed at her pajamas, her voice raspy as she asked, “Who changed my clothes?”
Shang Hexing casually responded, “I did.”
Furthermore, he added, “I’ve seen everything I shouldn’t have, no need to ask any further.”
“…”
His tone was so natural and so assertive!
She had been about to adjust her neckline, but then she thought that he had already seen everything, so what’s the point, she thought, deciding against it.
She was about to get out of bed, raising the quilt, but Shang Hexing reminded her, “Cover yourself, lie down properly, don’t move around.”
Wen Zhi’s hand, lifting the quilt, froze mid-air, but only for two seconds, still stubbornly she lifted the quilt and got out of bed.
Shang Hexing, maintaining a propped seated posture, saw her insist on getting out of bed and did not stop her, only cautioning, “Walk slowly, don’t go too fast.”
She’d had a fever, was light-headed and unsteady on her feet, he was afraid she might stumble even on flat ground.
“I’ll be careful.”
Wen Zhi replied to him, then put on her slippers.
She looked around and combined with their current interaction, felt the illusion that she was married to him.
When she got up, her mouth opened, ready to say something, but Shang Hexing seemed to guess what she was about to say and tossed her a sentence, “No need to thank me.”
“I wasn’t…” She was slow to speak.
Shang Hexing eyed her, “Not trying to thank me?”
Wen Zhi pursed her lips, and with a hoarse voice she slowly said, “You’ve helped me many times already. Even though you said verbally you wouldn’t get involved and you tried to stop me, in the end, you helped me again, thanks is not enough to repay your aid.”
Shang Hexing asked lightly, “Not planning to offer verbal thanks as repayment, so how do you plan to thank me this time?”
His gaze seemed to have hooks, impossible to look away once she met his eyes.
Wen Zhi, as if possessed, walked around the foot of the bed to Shang Hexing’s side. She approached him slowly, not catching on at first, and stumbled slightly.
Shang Hexing immediately reached out to steady her, “Be careful.”
Wen Zhi steadied herself, her hand gripping his tightly, “I’m fine.”
He looked at her pale face with some concern, “Does your head still feel dizzy now?”
Wen Zhi raised her hand to her head, “It seems so.”
Shang Hexing said, “If you feel dizzy, come back and lie down; it’s very late now.”
Wen Zhi replied with an “Oh,” pulling her hand away, ready to walk around the head of the bed to the other side. But quickly she startled herself with her own thoughts; she hadn’t suggested that he arrange a separate room for her.
Could it be she was going to lie back down and continue sharing a bed with him?
“No need to walk around, sleep on this side; I’ll move over,” Shang Hexing said as he lifted the quilt for her.
Wen Zhi’s limbs acted faster than her brain, without hesitation, she really crawled over.
He moved aside a bit, but not too much; the bed was big enough so that even if both of them were on one side, it wasn’t too cramped.
As Wen Zhi lay down, Shang Hexing leaned over her.
“Shang Hexing—” she startled, thinking he was going to do something.
But his expression was undisturbed, he simply reminded her calmly, “When you were feverish and dizzy, your consciousness was very blurry, you couldn’t recognize people; I stayed up all night taking care of you without even unbuttoning my shirt, and you…”
Wen Zhi asked softly, “What did I do?”
Shang Hexing stated it in a calm tone, “You said you were hot, kept clinging to me, saying I was cooler, you touched every inch of my upper body.”
Wen Zhi closed her eyes tight.
A voice in her head kept brainwashing her: It wasn’t me! It wasn’t me! It wasn’t me! It wasn’t me!
Shang Hexing said, “We can settle this issue once you’re better; for now, you’re a patient, and I won’t bother arguing with you about it. Go to sleep.”
Wen Zhi: “…”
