Sharing Dreams with My Bestie’s Cousin
Chapter 115 - 115 Accident

Chapter 115: Accident Chapter 115: Accident Meng Fan was stunned.

By the time she regained her senses, Shang Hexing’s figure had already walked away.

“I think I know what to say now…” Meng Fan said thoughtfully, stroking her chin.

After the Han Family’s family banquet was over, Meng Fan was dragged by her aunts to play cards. Unenthusiastic, she pulled in Rong Huaishen to take her place, while she found a quiet corner to video call Wen Zhi.

At the same time, Wen Zhi was on her way to meet Chong Wanyin.

Chong Wanyin knew she had returned to Bai City and was staying at the Wen Family’s place, so she made a call to express her concern.

Seeing as the weather was nice that day, Chong Wanyin also invited her to go horseback riding.

The entertainment of wealthy ladies to pass the time was nothing other than afternoon tea and playing mahjong, and those with a bit more interest would go riding or play tennis. Just one of these activities could fill up their leisure time completely.

Wen Zhi arrived at the Horse Farm to find that Chong Wanyin had invited several other ladies to ride together, creating quite a lively scene.

“Wen Zhi, over here,” Chong Wanyin called out, waving Wen Zhi over.

Wen Zhi adjusted the black-framed glasses on her nose and walked towards Chong Wanyin.

“Why didn’t you tell me when you came back?” Chong Wanyin left the group of ladies and walked a few steps to meet Wen Zhi.

She affectionately took Wen Zhi’s hand, chiding her, “You even moved back into the Wen Family’s place and didn’t say a word. Were you given a hard time when you got back?”

Wen Zhi replied with a soft smile, “No.”

Chong Wanyin asked, “Is your father at home recently?”

Wen Zhi nodded.

Chong Wanyin suddenly tightened her grip on Wen Zhi’s hand, “I heard your father has been traveling for business all year, laboring and traveling non-stop. How can his body take it? You should persuade him to take good care of his health. If he wears himself out, it would be very distressing.”

Wen Zhi spoke in an indistinct tone, “If he himself doesn’t care about his own health, who will be distressed.”

Chong Wanyin added, “There are people who care.”

Wen Zhi asked half-jokingly, “Are you talking about yourself, Madam?”

Chong Wanyin paused slightly, staring at Wen Zhi for a few seconds, “Are you teasing me?”

Seeing Chong Wanyin’s expression, Wen Zhi quickly said, “I apologize, Madam, I…”

“It’s okay, you’re just a child in my eyes, let’s just say children are innocent,” Chong Wanyin said graciously, with no intention of taking offense.

She led Wen Zhi towards the stables, “Let’s go pick a horse, and remember to change into your riding outfit.”

Wen Zhi nodded in agreement, “Okay.”

After changing into her riding attire, she went to the stables to lead out a horse. The Rider had asked her in advance if she could ride, and when Wen Zhi said she could a little, the Rider stayed close by her side to prevent any mishandling that might startle the horse and cause her to get hurt.

On her way out of the stables, Wen Zhi received a video call from Meng Fan.

She took off her hat and the Rider held it for her as she answered the call.

“Zhizhi, the background behind you looks so spacious, where are you?” Meng Fan asked.

Under the blazing sun, Wen Zhi held the phone in one hand and shaded herself with the other, telling Meng Fan on the video, “Horse Farm, Mrs. Shang invited me out to ride.”

Meng Fan leaned in close to the screen and asked, “Are there many people?”

Wen Zhi glanced over, “About five or six, all friends of Mrs. Shang’s.”

Meng Fan whispered, “Then, are you able to talk about the matter right now?”

Wen Zhi suddenly stopped walking, and the Rider consciously led the horse forward. With no one else around, Wen Zhi then lowered her hand and asked, “What matter do you want to talk about?”

Seeing an opportunity, Meng Fan was about to speak.

Who knew that a sudden accident would occur on Wen Zhi’s side, with a startled horse galloping wildly around the Horse Farm. Moreover, there was no one on the horse’s back, and the Rider couldn’t catch up, so they had to chase and encircle it on horseback.

The Rider who was leading Wen Zhi’s horse returned first to warn her, “Miss! Miss! You should head back to the pavilion by the stables to take shelter for now, lest that horse comes running over and hurts you.”

Wen Zhi looked up at the horse charging towards her, and her heart immediately rose to her throat. She heeded the Rider’s advice and hurried towards the stables. At a time like this, nothing was more important than safety.

Meng Fan also noticed that something was wrong on her side, but she didn’t catch what the Rider had said earlier, chasing after her to ask, “Zhizhi, what happened? What’s going on?”

Wen Zhi ran as fast as she could toward the pavilion by the stables, without the time to explain much to Meng Fan, only replying, “The horse got startled; I’m going to hide for a bit.”

Meng Fan’s face changed, her anxiety palpable, “How did the horse get startled all of a sudden? Could someone have deliberately sabotaged it? Zhizhi, run faster, you…”

Meng Fan hadn’t finished her worried words when suddenly her cell phone was snatched from her hand.

?

No, who’s that?

Meng Fan was about to get angry at whoever was joking with her by snatching her phone at this crucial moment when she saw it was Shang Hexing. Her irritation immediately subsided, “Uncle.”

“Which Horse Farm?” Shang Hexing asked, staring at the blurry image on the phone with a grim expression.

Meng Fan shook her head, “I only know that Wen Zhi went to a Horse Farm, but I don’t know which one. It was… oh right, Lady Shang invited her.”

“I’ll take the phone and leave first, I’ll return it to you later,” Shang Hexing said, taking the phone and walking away.

Meng Fan quickly followed, “Uncle, are you going to find Wen Zhi? I’ll come with you!”

Chen Jinhai parked the car at the steps as he left the Han Family. He got out and opened the door, “Mr. Shang, the people I sent have already inquired, and we’ll have results soon.”

Shang Hexing got into the car with a stern face, followed closely by Meng Fan.

In less than three minutes, Chen Jinhai received the results. He turned his head and reported, “It’s Songshang Horse Farm.”

Shang Hexing’s eyes deepened, “To Songshang Horse Farm.”

Meanwhile, at the Horse Farm, the frenzied horse had been subdued by the Riders. Because of the incident, they naturally couldn’t take it back to the stables but instead had to take it elsewhere for examination.

With her hair in disarray, Wen Zhi stood under the pavilion next to the stables, facing the wind as she watched the horse being sedated and then carried away by seven or eight people.

All of a sudden, the danger came swiftly and left just as quickly; many were still in shock, including the fine ladies who had been taken to a safe place for shelter.

Another Rider approached Wen Zhi, asking with concern, “Miss, are you alright?”

Wen Zhi shook her head, “I’m fine, what about them?”

The Rider said, “They are all in a safe place. I’ll lead another horse for you to take you there.”

Wen Zhi didn’t think much of it, simply nodding her head.

The Rider quickly went to the stables again, led out another horse, and gestured to Wen Zhi, “Mount the horse, I’ll take you there.”

Wen Zhi wasn’t afraid of horse riding; she had had exposure before and knew how to mount and handle the reins. However, with the Rider there, she didn’t need to take the reins, only needing to hold onto the loop on the saddle.

Despite the recent upheaval, she wasn’t scared. One horse having an issue was an accident; surely, not all the horses would be problematic. Without much thought, she nimbly swung herself onto the horse.

The Rider looked up and asked, “Can you ride?”

Wen Zhi said, “A little.”

The Rider raised a hand, “Then I’ll let you take control of the reins.”

Wen Zhi glanced at the Rider and didn’t reach out to take the reins. In that moment, she couldn’t help but think this Rider seemed a bit irresponsible.

Even if she could ride, unless she specifically requested it, how could he just hand over the reins to her?

What if there was another accident…
