Sharing Dreams with My Bestie’s Cousin -
Chapter 111 - 111 Live like this for a lifetime
Chapter 111: Live like this for a lifetime Chapter 111: Live like this for a lifetime “I can’t do this anymore, I won’t do it.”
Wen Zhi was in so much pain that she regretted it.
Shang Hexing caressed her damp hair from her forehead with the palm of his hand and said with a pained expression, “Alright, we won’t have the baby. And even when we go back to reality, we won’t have it either. Just the two of us will live a lifetime together.”
Wen Zhi was in so much agony that she couldn’t clearly hear what Shang Hexing was whispering in her ear.
She clutched his hand so tightly that her nails almost embedded into his flesh, leaving behind deep purple crescent marks.
He didn’t even frown but calmly and collectedly figured out how to deliver the baby.
Eventually, Wen Zhi finally gave birth.
But she also passed out from it.
When she opened her eyes again, she vaguely heard the sounds of a child playing and laughing. She followed the direction of the sound and focused her gaze to see a three-year-old boy running around in the courtyard.
The little boy was adorably cherubic.
Was it the child she had given birth to?
As the process of childbirth suddenly surfaced in her mind, she felt a lingering pain in her abdomen. Could such a sensation penetrate deep into the bone marrow even in a dream…
It was truly strange. Even in a dream, why couldn’t she be a mother without pain?
Wen Zhi began to look around. The wooden house had changed too; it was no longer as dilapidated as before. It had been renovated inside and out, the weeds in the yard had been cleanly uprooted, and a fence had been built around it. Next to the fence was a small vegetable garden with many plants.
Lifting her gaze, she also noticed a lychee tree beside the wooden house.
“Mommy~ Mommy~ Mommy~”
Little Zhisui ran over and clung to Wen Zhi’s arm, cooing, “Mommy, can Baby eat little balls today?”
Wen Zhi stared at the cherubic little boy in front of her.
He didn’t look like her at all; he looked like Shang Hexing.
So cute.
Mainly because she had given birth to him herself.
Wen Zhi reached out and pinched Little Zhisui’s chubby cheeks, asking softly, “What are little balls?”
Little Zhisui pointed at the lychee tree beside them, “That, round and smooth, very sweet~”
Wen Zhi made an ‘oh’ sound and explained to Little Zhisui, “Baby, that’s not called little balls, that’s called lychee.”
Little Zhisui leaned on Wen Zhi’s arm, his cherubic little face rubbing against it, “Mommy, can Baby eat lychees?”
His pronunciation wasn’t very clear. The word ‘lychee’ sounded more like ‘lee chee’.
This was probably why the little tyke had called them little balls.
“Mommy~ Baby loves Mommy the most, loves you so very much~”
“Mommy is the most beautiful mommy in the world~”
Wen Zhi was swiftly charmed by her son’s few words and was about to agree when a deep voice came, “Zhisui.”
Little Zhisui immediately buried his face in Wen Zhi’s embrace, hiding.
Wen Zhi looked up and saw Shang Hexing approaching, murmuring to him, “Why are you scolding our son?”
Shang Hexing sighed, “He can’t eat any more lychees.”
Wen Zhi asked, “Why?”
Without waiting for Shang Hexing to answer, she continued, “We might be poor, but we shouldn’t be too hard on the child. It’s just eating lychees. We have them right in front of our door, and it’s even the season for them. Just pick a couple for him.”
Zhisui lifted his head from Wen Zhi’s embrace, nodding vigorously as if pounding garlic, “Mommy is right~ Baby loves Mommy~”
Wen Zhi was coaxed again, her mouth opening in a giggly smile, “Baby is really good.”
Unable to watch any further, Shang Hexing stooped down, grabbed Zhisui by the collar and lifted him out of Wen Zhi’s arms, “Enough fooling around, get out of here.”
Zhisui was hoisted up, his limbs flailing helplessly in mid-air before giving up the struggle, sighing grievously, “Baby doesn’t like Daddy anymore.”
Shang Hexing, with an utterly calm expression, set his son aside, “It’s okay if you don’t like me; my wife will love me.”
Wen Zhi burst into laughter.
Zhisui pretended to wipe his tears, whimpering, “You both don’t love Baby anymore, wu wu wu wu…”
Shang Hexing stood firm, “Go away.”
Wen Zhi couldn’t stand it anymore and got up to lean against Shang Hexing, “Ay, our son just wants to eat a litchi, just give him one.”
Shang Hexing shook his head, “No.”
Wen Zhi asked, “Why not?”
Shang Hexing told her, “This morning, this little rascal took advantage of our distraction and ate all the litchis on the plate in one go, and now his nose is suffering from the heat.”
Wen Zhi let out a surprised ‘Ah’, then turned to look at their son pretending to cry.
Little Zhisui was covering his face with both hands, crying while intermittently peeping at his parents’ reaction through the gaps between his fingers.
On his nth glance, he met his mother’s gaze. Little Zhisui panicked, turned, and ran away, all the while saying, “Mommy, baby is wrong, baby humbly admits the mistake~”
Wen Zhi: “…”
After Little Zhisui ran back inside, Wen Zhi turned to look at Shang Hexing beside her and suddenly asked him, “Will we live like this forever?”
Shang Hexing looked at Wen Zhi with tender eyes, “Do you want to spend a lifetime with me like this?”
Wen Zhi nestled into his embrace, “I do.”
But that was only in a dream; back in reality, she and he were ultimately not meant to walk the same path.
Even so, things were already quite good.
She must cherish the life she had crafted for herself in her dreams.
Once the dream ended, there would be nothing left.
Evening came.
“Daddy, baby doesn’t want to sleep in the little bed tonight, baby wants to sleep with mommy. Daddy, can you sleep in the little bed tonight?”
“Forget about it.”
“Daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, you are the best daddy in the world, baby loves daddy so so much~”
“Go away, you’re in the way.”
“Daddy, you’ve worked hard, let baby massage your shoulders, let baby pat your back.”
“Get off my bed!”
“Wuwuwu, daddy, don’t you love baby anymore?”
“I’m going to count to three, one…”
“Hmph, goodnight then, goodnight, baby can sleep alone.”
Little Zhisui climbed onto his own little bed, still huffing with arms crossed.
The little bed, handcrafted by Shang Hexing, was good till the age of ten. But in Little Zhisui’s mind, he couldn’t tell the difference between big and small beds; as long as it was a bed, he could sleep on it.
From the start of the argument between father and son, Wen Zhi had been laughing non-stop, thinking how a steady and mature man like Shang Hexing could even get jealous over his son.
After dealing with their son, Shang Hexing suddenly turned to her and said, “Wife, it’s time to go to sleep.”
Wen Zhi suddenly could no longer laugh.
She lay on the bed and moved as far inward as she could, but the next second Hexing pulled her out by the waist.
“What are you hiding from?” His kisses lingered behind her ear.
Wen Zhi, with her neck shrinking, complained tearfully, “You have no restraint, our son is already three years old.”
Shang Hexing started from behind, “Isn’t this to maintain our relationship as a couple?”
After a while, Wen Zhi snuggled in his arms, her breathing slowly returning to normal.
Once calmed, she wrapped her arms around his waist and asked, “Why name him Zhisui?”
Shang Hexing said, “Just thought of it casually, as long as it includes your name.”
Wen Zhi’s heart swelled with sweetness, and she murmured, “Let’s stay like this, without waking up.”
No sooner had she finished speaking that Wen Zhi fell into deep sleep.
When she woke up again and opened her eyes, she instinctively called out, “Zhisui!”
“Who’s Zhisui?” A confused voice came from beside her.
