Sharing Dreams with My Bestie’s Cousin -
Chapter 101 - 101 Resistance is Futile
Chapter 101: Resistance is Futile Chapter 101: Resistance is Futile “Go… go to the hotel for what?”
Wen Zhi’s voice trembled.
The two gazed at each other through the dim light, Wen Zhi biting her lower lip, visibly nervous, and Shang Hexing noticed it.
Outside, the guests were leaving in succession, cars orderly departing. Shang Hexing’s car had no lights on and one-way glass, making it impossible to see anything at night.
After a while, Shang Hexing finally spoke, “This late at night, alone with a woman in a hotel, what do you think we should do?”
A faint smell of alcohol permeated the air, emanating from Shang Hexing, which she had been able to smell all the while they were playing cards, inexplicably intoxicating.
Wen Zhi suppressed the turmoil in her heart, slowly moved her hand to the door release button, then remembered he had locked it, dropped her head in defeat, and turned away, not looking at him, “We shouldn’t do anything.”
Shang Hexing barely held back a chuckle, “What if I insist on doing something?”
Wen Zhi immediately said, “I would definitely resist!”
Shang Hexing continued to tease her, “What if resistance is futile?”
Wen Zhi blurted out, “Then I would bite you!”
Shang Hexing chuckled deeply, “Wen Zhi, what makes you think biting will help you escape? Don’t you know that biting can often fuel a man’s brutality, making it even harder for you to get away?”
Wen Zhi: “…”
Her body instinctively shrank back, pressing against the car door, her small face covered in fear, looking very vulnerable and easily driven to tears.
Shang Hexing didn’t tease her further, “Okay, I was just scaring you.”
Wen Zhi appeared half convinced.
Shang Hexing extended his hand, “Come here.”
Wen Zhi said softly, “I’m scared.”
Shang Hexing’s eyes were murky with emotion, “Afraid I might devour you?”
Wen Zhi’s lips quivered for a few seconds before she nodded, causing Shang Hexing to laugh, pulling forcefully at her wrist and dragging her over, his grip domineering, leaving no room for resistance.
She was wearing a cheongsam tonight, with slits on either side that required careful sitting to prevent exposing too much.
Luckily, the car was dimly lit and he couldn’t clearly see the exposed parts of her thighs.
But she was unable to overpower his strength, and after struggling briefly, she ultimately ended up in his arms, his palm supporting her forehead to prevent her head from hitting anything.
She exclaimed softly.
Shang Hexing frowned and asked her, “Did you hit your head after all?”
His palm moved downward, lifting her chin to inspect it closely.
At that moment, the driver silently raised the partition to avoid disturbing his boss’s pleasure, his brow furrowed as he thought about the recent visits to Lin City and the Han Family being aware, suspecting that trouble might soon arise…
As the partition rose, the back seat felt even more cramped.
Wen Zhi pulled away Shang Hexing’s hand and retreated as if electrocuted, saying, “I didn’t hit it.”
Shang Hexing checked and indeed, she had not hit anywhere, she was just making a fuss. However, when he focused on the distance she had moved away, he was noticeably displeased, “Are you really that scared of me?”
This time Wen Zhi shook her head, “No.”
Shang Hexing said, “Then come a little closer, don’t lean against the window.”
Wen Zhi hesitated, but eventually edged a bit closer to him, though still keeping a gap that could fit another person between them.
He simply gave up.
The lights in the car remained off, and they continued without further incident, finally arriving at the reserved hotel.
The doorman took the car keys to park the vehicle, while the driver went to handle the room reservation details at the front desk.
After confirming the floor and room number, Shang Hexing led Wen Zhi upstairs.
Shang Hexing walked ahead, with Wen Zhi following behind. After a few steps, she caught up to his pace and asked, “Mr. Shang, does the hotel know who you are?”
Shang Hexing answered her, “Yes.”
Wen Zhi was skeptical. The front desk staff had looked at Shang Hexing just like someone admiring a handsome guy, without a hint of nervousness. If his identity had really been revealed, the manager and a crowd of people would have been waiting for him long ago.
So, he must have been lying to her.
The elevator doors opened, and Shang Hexing, with his long legs, stepped in first while Wen Zhi stood still outside until Shang Hexing glanced at her and reminded her, “Come in.”
Wen Zhi still didn’t move.
Shang Hexing then reached out and pulled her into the elevator, explaining to her, “They don’t know.”
Wen Zhi looked up at him.
As the elevator doors slowly closed, Shang Hexing finally released her wrist and said, “Isn’t this what you wanted to know?”
Wen Zhi pressed her lips tightly, “But I didn’t ask.”
Shang Hexing: “Your eyes did.”
Wen Zhi: “…”
The elevator rose floor by floor, finally stopping on the eighth floor.
After exiting the elevator, Wen Zhi then thought to ask, “Did you book two suites, right?”
Shang Hexing replied nonchalantly, “One.”
Wen Zhi abruptly stopped, Shang Hexing didn’t wait for her, but she quickly caught up to him, “Why only one room? I don’t want to stay with you.”
Shang Hexing ignored her.
He took long strides, and as Wen Zhi tried to keep up with him without him stopping, she simply blocked his path, forcing him to stop: “Shang Hexing!”
Shang Hexing, forced to a halt, quietly looked at her.
Wen Zhi hated his responsible demeanor and stated directly, “We can’t stay in the same room.”
Shang Hexing asked, “Are you afraid I will do something to you?”
Wen Zhi thought for a moment and then said, “You won’t.”
Shang Hexing chuckled lightly, “Are you thinking too highly of me? When a man and a woman share a roof, there’s no such thing as a gentleman.”
He intentionally said this to scare her.
But this time, Wen Zhi could withstand his intimidation, “You would act like a gentleman, but we still can’t stay in the same room.”
She didn’t say why, but both of them knew very well that if they did stay together tonight, some relationships would be altered.
Wen Zhi didn’t want to take a step further with him.
So before things reached an irreversible point, she had to set clear boundaries.
At that moment, Shang Hexing seemed to see through what Wen Zhi was thinking. His expression softened a bit, and he handed her a key card, “8012, your room.”
Wen Zhi didn’t take the card, “You gave me yours, what about you? Should we book another one now? Actually, I can book it myself…”
As she was about to take out her phone.
At that moment, Shang Hexing pulled out another key card, flashing it in front of her, “8010, diagonally across from you.”
It was a business suite, he had booked two from the start.
Wen Zhi saw the card in his hand, realizing she’d been teased by him again!
How annoying!
The distance between the suites wasn’t close. Shang Hexing escorted Wen Zhi back to suite 8012 first.
Wen Zhi stood inside the door, looking out at him and said, “Thank you for tonight, Mr. Shang.”
Shang Hexing didn’t speak, just stood silently there.
Wen Zhi hesitated to speak, but ultimately didn’t say anything more, slowly closing the door.
Probably two minutes later, thinking Shang Hexing had gone back to 8010, she opened the door to take a look but was suddenly stunned.
The man stood tall and imposing, his features handsome and striking, the tie he had worn on the white shirt was now removed, with his sleeves rolled up halfway, revealing light blue veins on his slender forearms, his shoulders broad and his presence commanding.
