Chapter 588: Chapter 351: Holy Army 2 (Five-in-One)_3
Su Ming was quite interested and asked,
"Is your corps’ main stronghold located in the Meteorite Zone as well?"
"Yes, and I’m not afraid of making a joke of ourselves, but we don’t have the resources to build a complete base, so we can only rely on natural meteorites to build our habitats."
"That’s quite good. The terrain of the Meteorite Zone is complex, making it very suitable for hiding."
"I think so too."
Novlin nodded slightly in response.
At that moment, Su Ming saw several Beast Teeth Mechas patrolling fly by, even waving at the transport ship.
"We are almost there; the stronghold is just ahead,"
Novlin said to Su Ming.
"Hmm!"
Su Ming quietly gazed ahead.
After a short while, a gigantic meteorite measuring over eight hundred kilometers came into view against the distant starscape.
The surface of this massive meteorite had been dug into and reinforced with metal castings.
The huge meteorite looked like a honeycomb.
At a glance, one could see several old tier 3 transport bays and dozens of mechas entering.
Seeing this scene, Novlin’s fair complexion revealed a hint of confusion.
"What’s wrong?"
Su Ming sharply perceived something was amiss and asked.
"It’s nothing, just that there seem to be a lot of people returning to the stronghold today,"
Novlin shook her head in reply.
"Oh."
Su Ming nodded slightly in acknowledgment.
...
Half an hour later, the tier 3 transport ship smoothly entered the docking bay of the Meteorite Stronghold.
Soon, exit number one opened.
Novlin led Su Ming and the others off the transport ship.
Looking around, Su Ming noticed that compared to Novlin’s docking area, this bay was considerably larger and had relatively better equipment; at least the main structure was covered with a metal frame.
At the same time, the entire docking bay was bustling, home to more than a dozen tier 3 transport bays and filled with Holy Army personnel returning home.
"Novlin!"
At that moment, a cheerful voice called out.
Su Ming turned to look and saw a woman with a striking figure and a square face, clad in a gray coat and accompanied by several men, approaching.
"Kaizen, you’re at the stronghold too?"
Novlin replied, quite surprised.
"Of course, I came back. Deputy Corps Commander Rayni will be holding a commendation meeting later; we all made a special trip here."
Kaizen explained to Novlin.
"A commendation meeting? Who’s being commended? Has something major happened?"
Novlin asked back, very surprised.
"Don’t you know? Our stronghold has made a huge accomplishment, a historical feat!"
"I don’t know? What kind of feat?"
Confusion colored Novlin’s response before she suddenly realized that she might not have received the notification because she had been out searching for the Emperor.
"Oh dear, have you heard about the destruction of Heart of Sky Base?"
"I’m aware of that, but what about it?"
"Tukelei from the 78th troop took part in the operation. He aided the Federation forces in pulling off this great feat. You have to understand, this is the greatest achievement our stronghold has ever had!"
Kaizen explained to Novlin.
"I see,"
Novlin and the others were very surprised to hear this.
Su Ming was equally astonished; he hadn’t expected that the destruction of Heart of Sky Base had anything to do with the Holy Army.
"I have other matters to attend to, so I can’t chat more,"
Kaizen then bade farewell to Novlin.
"Alright, go ahead with your business,"
Novlin nodded in response.
"See you later."
After speaking, Kaizen departed with her subordinates.
At this moment, Bair couldn’t help but ask Su Ming,
"Lord Su Ming, did we truly assist you in destroying the Heart of Sky Base?"
"Well... I’m not too sure myself, but it seems to be the case,"
Su Ming pondered and replied.
Although they had initially launched a solo surprise attack on the Heart of Sky Base, it was clear Vickers and his team had intelligence support.
They not only knew the defense layout of the Heart of Sky Base like the back of their hand but also had the route through the Dark Forest well-prepared in advance.
All these signs pointed to one thing: someone was assisting them.
And as the local power in this area, the Holy Army had the capacity to get their hands on such intelligence.
"Oh my, Tukelei from the 78th troop is taking off!"
Bair exclaimed in surprise after hearing Su Ming’s response.
"Stop the chatter, Bair,"
Novlin told Bair.
"Okay."
Bair became silent upon hearing Novlin’s words.
Novlin then spoke to Su Ming,
"Lord Su Ming, let’s go buy some supplies first, and later we’ll look for Deputy Corps Commander Rayni to borrow a ship."
"No problem, there’s no rush,"
Su Ming, though anxious to return to the Federation, was not in a hurry for a little while.
"Great!"
Novlin then led Su Ming and others toward the nearby elevator number three.
Before long, the group took elevator number three and arrived at the surface caves on the upper level.
The caves inside the stronghold were even larger, with a diameter of a full fifty kilometers.
Within the cavern were densely packed, crooked tin houses and various processing plants.
The whole area was a larger version of Novlin’s zone.
However, compared to Novlin’s area, this area was bustling with open-air stalls selling all sorts of items.
"Black Shell brand oil, fresh off the press!"
...
Various vendors were energetically hawking their wares.
Seeing this scene, Su Ming curiously asked Novlin,
"You have vendors here too?"
"Yes, even though we are all part of the same corps, we can’t all be spoon-fed. Without some vitality, there’s no energy, so trade and commerce are encouraged within our corps, but the prices can’t be set too high,"
Novlin explained to Su Ming.
"That’s a good model,"
Su Ming genuinely commended.
