Chapter 584: Chapter 350: Holy Army (Five-in-One)_5
The cave was filled with makeshift homes cobbled together out of scrap metal sheets, resembling box-shaped hovels, and several crude processing factories belching black smoke.
On the walls of the cave, aged life support machines were exposed, making shrill, grating noises that sounded like tractor engines.
Dim bulbs hung from the metal beams on the ceiling, providing faint light.
The murky air was thick with a pungent odor.
Despite such spartan conditions, the place was teeming with people.
A group of bare-skinned children chased each other in spirited play.
Many Holy Army personnel, clothed in old uniforms, were driving decrepit transport carts, hauling collected ores as they drove through winding streets.
"Hurry it up, get the ore to Factory No. 4."
....
"This is our home. Follow me; I’ll take you to meet the leader!"
Bair led Su Ming and the others inside.
Su Ming and his companions followed Bair, curiously surveying their surroundings.
As they met various diligent workers along the way, they all greeted Bair.
"Bair, you’re back!"
"Who are the people with you? They look so unfamiliar."
"Right, are they new here?"
"They don’t seem like it; their gear looks so well-equipped!"
...
"They are guests from the Federation,"
Bair replied proudly.
"The Federation? You actually found people from the Federation?"
Upon hearing Bair’s words, the members of the Holy Army showed surprised and delighted expressions.
Su Ming found their reactions curious, noticing the unexpectedly cordial attitude towards them.
"Right, I can’t chat now; I need to take them to see the leader."
Bair said to everyone.
"Go ahead!"
Everyone responded in turn.
Shortly afterward, Bair brought Su Ming and the rest to the center of a humble metallic bungalow.
Pushing the door open, he led Su Ming and the others inside, calling out excitedly,
"Leader!"
Su Ming observed the living room’s sparse furnishings—a simple table and a few metal chairs. Although primitive, the space was spotlessly clean.
"Bair, what are you yelling about?"
At this moment, a rather petite woman with a high ponytail, slightly chubby cheeks, and bright eyes emerged from the back room.
"Fia, I wasn’t calling for you,"
Bair replied nonchalantly.
Just as Fia was about to speak to Bair, she suddenly saw Su Ming and his group, freezing in place and calling out nervously,
"Who are they?"
"What’s the matter, Fia?"
Then, a woman with pale skin, blue hair, amber eyes, and an exceptionally attractive appearance came out.
"Leader, look at them!"
Fia spoke urgently.
Novlin turned her gaze to Su Ming and his companions, showing a hint of surprise in her eyes.
Quickly, Bair introduced them to Novlin,
"Big sister, this gentleman is Lord Su Ming from the Federation!"
Upon hearing that the visitors were from the Federation, Novlin promptly bowed slightly to Su Ming and the rest.
"Hello, Lord Su Ming. I am Novlin, the commander of the 163rd Battalion of the Holy Army!"
"Hello,"
Su Ming politely replied.
Rhein and the others heard Novlin’s introduction and all showed expressions of astonishment.
The commander of the 163rd Battalion—that’s an enormous number of units for the Holy Army, incredible!
At this moment, Bair couldn’t wait to tell Novlin,
"Big sister, Lord Su Ming and his group are incredible—they just took down Heart of Sky Base!"
"Ah? Really? But Heart of Sky Base is heavily guarded, and it even has a fortress,"
Fia said, somewhat incredulously.
"It’s true, but we destroyed it in a stealth attack,"
Su Ming calmly explained.
"Even a stealth attack is extremely impressive. Kogis, who was stationed at Heart of Sky Base, is a highly troublesome figure."
Novlin shook her head as she said this.
"That guy, he’s already been taken down by our squad leader!"
Rhein boasted.
Fia and the rest, upon hearing this, were shocked as they looked at Su Ming,
"You killed Kogis?"
"Cough cough, he’s presumed dead,"
Su Ming replied modestly, clearing his throat.
"Lord Su Ming, you are truly remarkable. May I know why you have come to us? Is there something we can assist you with?"
Novlin asked respectfully, calming her emotions.
"The situation is that after we attacked Heart of Sky Base, we were pursued by the Imperial Army. In the rush, we fled into the Dark Forest and got separated from our main forces. We are now seeking your assistance,"
Su Ming stated straightforwardly.
"Lord Su Ming, just tell us what you need. As long as we can help, we won’t hesitate,"
Novlin pledged without hesitation.
"We need fuel and supplies for our mechas,"
Su Ming didn’t beat around the bush.
"How many mechas? What models?"
Novlin inquired, looking at Su Ming.
"Over eight hundred, mostly second-generation Iron Guards."
Su Ming provided an approximate number.
Upon hearing Su Ming’s words, Novlin and her companions fell silent.
Seeing Novlin and the others speechless, Su Ming was not surprised. Supplying so many mechas would be extremely costly, and anyone would be reluctant to do so.
But with no other options, he sincerely said,
"Please, Miss Novlin, I ask for your help. Of course, we would not expect you to provide supplies for free; we can offer financial compensation."
Novlin, with a complex look on her face, was about to speak,
when suddenly, the door was flung open, and a cheerful young man exclaimed.
