Chapter 494: Chapter 336: Massive Bleeding (Five in One)
The moving platform soon sprang into action, swiftly shuttling through the steel passageway.
At this point, Hejassi couldn’t hold back any longer and said to Su Ming laughing,
"Ha ha, Su Ming, both Kaff and Aragon are probably dying to curse their mothers. The problem is they can’t even utter a word, can only choke back."
"I can’t do anything about it, who the hell knew the Grey Gun would be assigned to them."
Su Ming replied with a smile.
"If the first and second groups really intend to repair that level 5 battleship, looks like they’ll have to tighten their belts."
Shu’en said, shaking his head helplessly.
"I bet even tightening their belts won’t be enough to afford the repairs. If Su Ming hadn’t destroyed those thrusters, there might have been hope, but now it’s doubtful."
Hejassi responded without a second thought.
"Hehe!"
Su Ming just gave a wry smile.
"Ha ha, but jokes aside, Su Ming, you’ve really shot up in the ranks this time, a whole 3000 Military Merit Points! I remember it takes 2000 points to be a Lieutenant Colonel and 5000 for a Colonel. Damn, you’re nearly touching Colonel rank with those points."
Hejassi said, full of envy.
"Just luck."
Su Ming replied, in a good mood.
At this moment, Lieutenant Colonel Shu’en beside him shook his head and said,
"Don’t celebrate too early, it’s not that simple."
"Why do you say that?"
Su Ming asked, puzzled as he looked at Lieutenant Colonel Shu’en.
"The Military Merit Points the Legion Commander is giving us, that’s the figure she plans to submit. As for how many get approved, that depends on the review by both the military department and the council. After all, each position is like a fixed slot; they won’t allow you to rise easily."
Shu’en explained to Su Ming.
"Damn, how could I have forgotten that."
Hejassi said with a darkened face upon hearing Shu’en’s words.
Su Ming, extremely curious, asked,
"Is the approval tough to get?"
"Extremely tough. The military department and the council each have a review committee, and these committees are super strict. Especially the literary bunch in the council, they’re simply inhumane with their cuts; I hate those guys the most!"
Hejassi said, his anger growing the more he spoke.
"That exaggerated?"
Su Ming asked, curiously.
"What Hejassi says is not exaggerated at all. Of all the Military Merit submitted over the years, I’ve never seen any that weren’t cut—it’s just a matter of how much."
Shu’en assured Su Ming.
"How much will they cut from ours?"
Su Ming asked, even more interested now.
"That’s unclear, the cuts depend on many factors. Firstly, the identity of the main person submitting the report—the further back in the queue, the weaker the voice of the legion. Then it also relates to your background. If you have deep connections in the council and the military department, the review can be a bit more lenient. I remember the most outrageous discount was with the twelfth legion’s reported Military Merit: 1000 points got slashed to 200."
Shu’en recalled and said.
"No way, can they really do that?"
Su Ming said, replying with a bitter smile.
"However, our Legion Commander has a very high status. She probably won’t get too outrageous a cut on the Military Merit she reports."
Shu’en pondered and then added.
"Any amount they cut is heartache. Large-scale battles like this are rare. It’s normally hard to earn such a significant amount of Military Merit Points, and these are all earned with our lives on the line."
Hejassi became more and more annoyed as he spoke.
He could already envision his Military Merit Points being slashed.
"Hehe, let’s not talk about those downers. Let’s take a look at our own ship."
Su Ming quickly changed the subject.
"Okay."
Shu’en and Hejassi nodded in agreement.
However, the moment the moving platform came to a stop, the three of them—Su Ming, Shu’en, and Hejassi—were stunned as they looked at the docked ship in front of them.
They saw a ship in front of them so battered it was extreme, especially the middle part of the ship, which was blown open with a massive hole.
Shu’en and Hejassi felt as though they had been doused with cold water, their hearts chilled.
"Damn it, you might as well tear it down and sell it for scrap."
Hejassi came back to his senses and couldn’t help but swear.
"Who destroyed this ship so badly, why is it so severely damaged?"
Shu’en said, looking somewhat dazed.
The expression on Su Ming’s face suddenly became very awkward as he apologetically said,
"I’m the one who blew up this ship."
"You blew it up?"
Shu’en and Hejassi’s expressions became incredibly animated as they turned to look at Su Ming.
"Yes!"
Su Ming swallowed and replied.
"Don’t you have any remorse? How could you be so ruthless?"
"Ah, I didn’t expect this ship would be assigned to us. If I knew, I promise I wouldn’t have been so heavy-handed."
Su Ming replied with an embarrassed chuckle.
"Now whatever you say is useless. Who knows how much it will cost to fix this ship."
Shu’en said with a bitter smile.
He hadn’t expected that, after recently watching the spectacle, he would be the one affected by it.
"Su Ming, you didn’t go that hard on all the ships, did you?"
Hejassi took a deep breath, trying to suppress the anger in his heart before asking.
"Of course, I never go easy on the enemy; I always take them down with thunderous attacks."
Su Ming said with conviction.
"I remember, the Wind Moving that was assigned to you, that was also one you took down, right?"
Shu’en asked thoughtfully.
"Yes!"
Su Ming replied with a smile.
"Then that’s great, take us to see it too!"
Hejassi immediately suggested.
"Actually, there isn’t much to see. It’s a level 4 battleship, not much difference."
Su Ming hesitated for a moment, trying to persuade them.
"No, I’m really feeling bottled up right now. Let me have a look at it just to balance my feelings."
Hejassi spoke frankly to Su Ming.
"Let’s take a look then, if your ship’s damage is severe, we’ll allocate more money and quotas to you."
