Chapter 77: 75 | Richest Couple in the World
"Winter dear!" A woman yelled at the top of her classy high-pitched voice.
Surprised at the sudden interruption, Blue acted on impulse, shoving Winter away and wiping his lips. Winter, unfortunate to have been submerged into the water after being pushed, was at a loss for words.
Blue stood up to his feet, grabbing a robe and wearing it to cover his nakedness. That was just before two people walked into the pool area. They were a man and a woman.
The woman was dressed in a fiery red dress, donning black shades and high heels. The man was wearing a blue three-piece suit. They both looked straight out the cover of a Forbes ’Richest Couple in the World’ magazine.
Blue was at a loss for words as these two people came off as familiar to him. It took him a second to piece in the visible fact that the shade of blonde hair the woman had was the same shade Winter had. And the man’s green eyes were an exact replica of Winter’s.
As reality dawned on Blue, he felt like crawling into a hole to hide himself out of shame forever and ever.
"Winter dear..." The woman stopped walking and the click sounds her heels made came to an end. She took in the scenery, noticing someone else other than her son.
Just then, Winter came out of the pool with a splash. He picked up a towel casually and wrapped it around his waist, not caring that his parents had seen him naked.
"What are you two doing here?" There was a hint of embarrassment in Winter’s voice as he asked that question.
He could already sense the humiliation he would be subjected to with his parents and Blue being in the same vicinity.
"We saw your post. How could you do such a thing?!" The man pointed at Winter in accusation.
Blue felt awkward where he stood, unsure of what was happening around him. As though Winter could sense Blue’s unease, he took a step forward to bridge Blue and his parents.
"Blue, these are my parents—Mr. Easton and Mrs. Sasha Dumont. Mom, dad, this is Blue, my boyfriend. He is—"
"Of course we know he’s your boyfriend. But why didn’t you tell us? Do you not care about us anymore?" Sasha spoke dramatically, tears gathering in her eyes.
Blue narrowed his eyes in confusion and thought, ’What the fuck is going on here?’
"No, that’s not it. I wanted to-"
"Can you imagine how heartbroken your mother and I were when we discovered that you’ve fallen in love again without telling us?" Easton spoke over Winter’s explanation.
Blue grabbed the word, ’again’, from Easton’s mouth and threw Winter a pointed look. Winter caught it instantly and raised his hands in surrender.
"Don’t mind them." Winter said to Blue with a reassuring tone.
"Don’t mind us? Winter, how could you say such a thing?" Sasha broke into a sob. Easton was quick to put his arm around her in a comforting manner as he looked at his son in disappointment.
Winter facepalmed himself, frustrated at the turn of events.
"And you!" Sasha suddenly stopped crying as she pointed at Blue.
"Me...?" Blue touched his chest, surprised that he had somehow gotten pulled into the play that was taking place before his eyes.
"You are so beautiful!" Sasha spoke with an awestruck tone, walking over to Blue.
She didn’t give him enough to register her words in his head before she grabbed both of his hands and kissed them.
"You’re such a beautiful boy. How could Winter keep you away from us?" Sasha said pitifully.
"I don’t understand what’s going on right now..." Blue made his confusion known.
Sasha opened her mouth to say something to him, but Winter was quick to step in between the two and separate them from each other, grabbing Blue by the waist.
"Allow the two of us to freshen up first. Then we’ll talk." Winter spoke in finality, then led Blue out of the pool area.
The second they took a step out the door, Blue said, "What the fuck?"
"Yeah, I know." Winter simply said in response.
Winter had once mentioned something to Blue about his parents being over the top. Blue had guessed that Winter wasn’t lying at that time. But now, he believed what Winter had said to him a hundred percent.
The two of them freshened up quickly and got dressed, during which Winter explained to Blue that his parents were not in any way normal in the head. All Blue had to do was go along with whatever they wanted him to so that peace would reign.
If not, their soap opera behavior would last seven seasons with fifty episodes each.
Blue noted down Winter’s words. He and Winter found themselves in the living room of Winter’s penthouse. Sasha and Easton were seated comfortably, each with a wine glass in their hand.
When they noticed that Blue and Winter had returned, they both stood up to their feet at the same time, discarding the glasses in their hand.
"My, my, you really do have eyes, you precious son of mine." Sasha’s words were directed to Winter but her eyes were on Blue as she spoke them.
An uncomfortable smile made its way to Blue’s lips as Sasha approached him and pulled him into a hug. Blue’s first thought was that she smelled of power.
He couldn’t explain the smell but he knew that it was expensive and could decide the fate of hundreds of lives.
"Come, you’re so thin. How do you take him?" Sasha asked Blue, examining his body.
Blue didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. What sort of nonsensical situation was he being subjected to endure!?
"Mom, stop it. You’re grossing him out." Winter scolded his mother. An apologetic look took over her features.
"I’m so sorry. Don’t mind me. It’s just been too long since you introduced anyone—"
"That’s enough." Winter cut his mother short and she clamped her mouth shut immediately.
"Um, it’s weird that we’re meeting for the first time in this way." Blue awkwardly said.
He had a terrible relationship with his one parent. There was a high chance that he would also have a terrible relationship with Winter’s parents so Blue wasn’t very sure about how to portray himself in their eyes.
Should he be his regular sassy self? Or should he suck it up and buttkiss them? Or should he not even try at all?
Blue really didn’t know what to do.
"We didn’t mean to interrupt the two of you. It’s just that we were so worried. It’s unlike Winter to keep us uninformed about the things going on in his life." Easton sat up as he spoke.
Blue was able to see the striking resemblance Winter and Easton shared. They both had that charming and friendly face that was able to pull people in. Only the few wrinkles on Easton’s face and light brown color of his hair was able to distinguish him from Winter.
"Ahh..." Blue said, unsure of how to respond to Easton’s words.
What did he mean?! Why would a parent always want to be informed about what was going on in their kid’s life?! Blue couldn’t understand the kind of relationship Winter and his parents shared.
"That’s not it. I just didn’t want to bother you two." Winter spoke up.
"What nonsense! You could never be a bother to us." Sasha said, cupping Winter’s face with both of her palms.
Blue’s brain went, ’Uhhhhhh...’
"Then I’m sorry. Blue is just really closed off and I didn’t want you two to overwhelm him. Now that we’re together I was going to introduce him to the two of you, I promise." Winter placed his hands over his mother’s.
Hearing Winter’s words, something clicked inside his head. He and Winter were together now! As in together together! And right now he was meeting Winter’s parents! That is, his boyfriend’s parents!
How absurd was that? They hadn’t even been together for twenty-four hours and he was already being introduced to the family. Blue was suddenly overwhelmed by his surroundings.
He wasn’t ready for this sort of responsibility yet. How could he meet the parents of his lover so soon? Was there no justice in the world!?
"I believe you." Easton said, putting an end to the matter. Now, he and Sasha could focus their full attention on Blue.
"I read online that you’re a pro-boxer and you write on the side. You’re so impressive." Sasha said in awe as she held Blue’s hand and led him to sit down on the chair.
Easton took the space of Blue’s left side while Sasha occupied his right; the three were so closely packed that one wouldn’t believe there was still a good amount of space on the chair.
Winter exhaled through his mouth as he directed himself to sit down across the three people. Blue’s eyes happened to meet Winter’s eyes right at that moment.
’Please, endure. I beg of you.’ Winter’s eyes seemed to say. Blue hadn’t fully grasped why Winter had to look at him so desperately.
In just a few minutes, he began to understand why very well.
