Chapter 108: 106 | Déjà vu
Winter’s grip was tight, deathly so, to the point where Blue found it extremely difficult to breathe.
"Stop it. Let go of me." Blue spoke with an exhausted tone.
He shifted his eyes and saw Adonis lying down helplessly on the floor, bleeding and all. He wanted to ask Winter why he went that far. Wanted to call someone to help Adonis; even if the guy was a total douchebag, he didn’t actually deserve to die, did he?
"Adonis..."
"You’re calling another Alpha’s name when you’re in my arms and in heat." Winter tightened his arms around Blue.
That was when Blue remembered that he was in heat. And in such a public place too. His brain was too slow to think in urgency. However, Winter’s brain seemed to be working perfectly ’fine’ as he swept Blue off his feet and carried him.
With his head pressed against Winter’s chest, Blue’s lower half stirred. An intense wave of desire overwhelmed him.
He wrapped his arms around Winter’s neck to inhale more of his leftover pheromones. Winter didn’t stop him. But there was a strange look in his eyes as he looked down at Blue snuggling against him.
Winter walked out the restaurant with Blue in his arms through the backdoor. Blue stirred more and more in Winter’s arms, grinding and looking for the perfect amount of friction so he could feel good.
Just as he was about to find it, Blue was placed inside the backseat of Winter’s car and left alone.
"Don’t leave me." A desperate plea escaped from Blue’s lips.
If Winter heard it as he settled into the driver’s seat, he didn’t show it. Winter began the drive, leaving Blue at the back feeling tortured.
"Release your pheromones." Blue spoke with a demanding tone.
"No." Winter spoke for the first time since he got into the car.
"Do it. I’m dying." Blue found a way to lean forward and place his hands on Winter’s chest as the latter drove.
"Stop it." Winter slapped Blue’s hands from his chest. And every time Blue tried to get closer, he would push him away.
That was how things went till they reached Winter’s place. Blue hadn’t even struggled as he was carried by Winter into the house and up the stairs. He only felt that he was finally going to be set free of his pain.
To his surprise, after Winter placed Blue on the bed, he turned his back and made his way to the door.
Realizing that Winter was going to leave him all alone, a strange kind of energy came upon Blue, driving him to chase after Winter and grab onto him from behind.
The situation screamed déjà vu.
"Kiss me." Blue said, moving to face Winter.
He stood on his tip toes and leaned forward to kiss Winter. Winter, wearing an unamused expression on his face, swatted Blue away and said, "Compose yourself. I’m going to get you suppressants."
He didn’t waste a second after saying those words as he walked out of the room and locked the door from the outside.
Without Winter, Blue lost strength in his legs and fell to the ground. The comfort of an Alpha was gone as well as the subtle pheromone scent.
The pain at the back of his neck returned with an intense wave of desire attached to it.
It didn’t take up to two minutes before Winter returned. He didn’t step into the room. He stood outside the door and knocked.
The brief knocking sound was enough to bring strength to Blue’s body once again as he rushed to the door.
"I didn’t get any suppressants. The doctor said you shouldn’t take them. And I can’t touch you now. So you’ll- you’ll have to face your heat alone." Winter choked on his words.
Blue’s brain registered Winter’s words slowly.
"Winter, why can’t you touch me?" Blue asked, pressing his hands against the door as a pathetic tear streamed down his right cheek.
"You’ll be fine in a day. It’s not the original time for your heat. It’s an induced one so it shouldn’t last for long." Winter said with a monotonous voice, not bothering to respond to Blue’s question.
"Winter, help me..." Blue said with a voice so low that he couldn’t even hear his own words.
Winter heard them and he said, "There’s a bowl of apples on the stand and a glass of water. I’ll be back in the morning."
All Blue heard after those words were footsteps. Retreating footsteps.
Blue didn’t want to believe that Winter was actually leaving him alone to deal with his own heat. But after waiting for minutes, he realized that Winter wasn’t coming back.
With that realization, there came another one—he was still an Omega, and Winter was an Alpha. He still needed Winter, but Winter didn’t need him.
***
At eight in the morning, Winter returned to his own place. He had spent the night at a hotel, refusing to be tempted by Blue.
Yes, he’d felt guilty for his actions but Blue needed to realize something—he didn’t exist to satisfy him. Winter wasn’t just some object that Blue could push away, hold, beat, love, hate, and treat badly.
He had feelings too. He had his own pride. Blue was not the only one with problems.
Winter used these words to push away the guilt that was strangling him as he walked up the stairs to open the door for Blue. Before opening the door, Winter placed his ear on the door. It was quiet inside.
Blue had been able to overcome his heat and was probably sleeping. Winter rolled his eyes. After all of Blue’s theatrics the previous night, he still ended up okay.
Wasn’t this proof enough that Blue didn’t need him as much as he needed Blue??
Winter unlocked the door and walked in. To his surprise, he couldn’t find Blue inside the room.
"Blue! Blue!" Winter called out sharply, running inside the bathroom to check for Blue, but he wasn’t there.
Winter’s thoughts drifted to the window and he whispered ’no’, walking out of the bathroom frantically. However, he was two steps out of the bathroom when his legs stopped moving and his irises constricted.
Blue was sitting on the floor next to the door, hugging his knees. He lifted his head at that moment to match Winter’s gaze on him.
Blue’s eyes were void of emotion.
