Chapter 641: At the Bottom of the Abyss — Hu Xinyue and the Pure White Beast
At the same time—
In another part of the abyss beneath the Jade Bridge.
Boom!
A tall figure dropped suddenly from above.
The impact blasted away the nearby corpses.
Flesh and bone were flung in all directions.
A gust of wind surged from the figure, sweeping away the dust and smoke, finally revealing his face.
It was Shen Mo.
Unlike Shi Tianhao, who had fallen in by accident, he had come down voluntarily.
Many cultivators believed the abyss beneath the Jade Bridge was bottomless and dared not descend. Few even thought it possible.
But Shen Mo had long known of its existence.
With proper preparation, he could naturally reach the bottom of the abyss.
Due to the abyss’s unique gravity, flying was impossible—one had to leap in and rely on a powerful body to survive the fall.
Ordinary cultivators, strong in spiritual force but weak in physical strength, would die without a doubt if they fell.
But Shen Mo cultivated the Divine Elephant Suppressing Prison Technique, giving him an incredibly strong physique.
Landing at the bottom left him with only a few scrapes.
A short circulation of his technique healed them instantly—no issue at all.
“The corpse rot miasma here is indeed thick.”
Shen Mo looked around.
He saw many corpses—
Human, beast, and even dragon.
Likely all unfortunate souls chased down by demonic cultivators and forced to leap off the bridge in desperation.
“Hu Xinyue should be just up ahead. I’ll find her with a bit of searching.”
With long strides, Shen Mo advanced. His blood energy wrapped his body, leaving him unfazed by the foul environment.
Elsewhere—
Pain!
So much pain!
Unbearable pain!
Hu Xinyue suddenly awoke.
Her delicate, lovely features were twisted with agony.
Her snow-white hair was matted with blood and grime, leaving her a complete mess.
Deep, narrow gashes marked her body in several places.
One wound across her chest exposed white bone.
What had happened?
She shook her head hard, slowly piecing together her memories.
She, Yin Zanghua, Xiang Bai, and Ao Can had been besieging the Great Demon Emperor.
Then, the demon jumped into the fissure within the Dragon Tomb and vanished.
The corpse rot miasma from the rift had become overwhelming, forcing them to retreat.
But after descending Qingfeng Peak and just reaching the area near the Jade Bridge, they were ambushed by a large number of demonic cultivators.
Individually, they were not strong, but there were too many of them—and they could command undead corpses.
Yin Zanghua, Ao Can, and Xiang Bai had no choice but to retreat separately.
Weaker than the others, Hu Xinyue was forced toward the edge of the bridge and fell into the abyss in her haste.
She thought she was done for.
But to her surprise, the space beneath the Jade Bridge wasn’t a bottomless void.
She landed on a heap of corpses.
The soft bodies had absorbed most of the impact, saving her life.
“Mother said my demon life would face three death tribulations… does this count as surviving another one?”
Hu Xinyue rubbed her little head and smiled bitterly.
Gurgle… gurgle…
Suddenly, strange noises came from within the pile of corpses nearby.
Her expression turned serious. She immediately drew the Cangming Sacred Spirit Shield.
It was thanks to this sacred artifact that she had survived the earlier demonic siege.
Whatever was making that noise was likely a corpse-feeding creature. She had to be on full alert.
“Come out!”
Hu Xinyue shouted coldly.
The thing in the pile seemed startled too.
After a long pause, it slowly emerged from the corpses.
Hu Xinyue was stunned.
It was a pure white little beast.
So pure, so dazzling.
It stood in sharp contrast to the bloody filth all around.
To exaggerate a little, it was like a beam of light piercing through the darkness.
“What… are you exactly?”
Hu Xinyue stared curiously at the creature.
Such a beautiful, adorable little thing—it clearly didn’t look like some ferocious monster.
As the Holy Maiden of the Skyfox Clan, Hu Xinyue had been around all kinds of beast species since childhood and had read countless bestiaries from the demon race. She was as knowledgeable as they came.
Yet even she couldn’t immediately recognize what kind of beast this was.
“Gurgle, gurgle!”
The pure white little beast cried out again, seeming to sense familiarity from Hu Xinyue. Instinctively, it began approaching her.
Hu Xinyue reached out her hand.
Moments later, the little creature was gleefully hopping and running circles around her.
As if it had just found the best companion in the world.
Suddenly, a sharp pain pierced Hu Xinyue’s chest.
She looked down—corpse rot miasma had invaded her open wound.
Panic stirred in her heart.
Corpse rot miasma was notoriously difficult to purge.
She couldn’t waste time. She had to leave the abyss as soon as possible.
The white beast seemed to notice her discomfort and immediately came to her side.
It extended its soft pink tongue and gently licked her wound.
Hu Xinyue instinctively tried to push it away.
But when she looked down again—her wound was healing right before her eyes!
She stared wide-eyed, stunned.
What kind of beast was this?
Even its saliva could heal wounds?
“Could it be a void beast from the void realm?”
The more Hu Xinyue thought about it, the more likely it seemed.
She had seen nearly every species of beast across the Southern Archipelago, East Continent, Central Continent, and the Western Drowning Sea.
Even the most obscure and bizarre ones were at least documented.
Only void beasts remained largely unknown to her.
That was because such creatures were hardly even classified as ordinary beasts anymore.
Some scholars had even proposed calling them “xu beasts.”
Xu beasts possessed incredibly powerful natural talents.
So long as no external force intervened, they could at minimum reach Tier Ten—comparable to a Supreme-level cultivator.
Some rare xu beasts existed as a single member of their species.
Such creatures only needed to eat and sleep to eventually reach Tier Eleven—equivalent to the Saint Realm!
These were known as holy beasts.
They were unimaginably rare.
“Gurgle!”
The pure white beast looked up at Hu Xinyue and called out again.
She glanced down—
Her wound had completely closed.
Even the corpse rot miasma had been purged clean!
Hu Xinyue was deeply moved.
At that moment, the white beast lowered its head and gently pressed its forehead into Hu Xinyue’s palm.
She froze.
Then—she suddenly realized—it had just formed a contract with her!
And not just any contract.
It was the most ancient and sacred form of void soul pact!
A bond of equals—not master and servant.
If either party betrayed the pact, they would be torn apart by void turbulence.
This type of contract, legend said, could only be formed by xu beasts.
“You really are a xu beast…”
Hu Xinyue was overwhelmed with surprise and joy.
Falling into the abyss, surviving certain death—and she’d ended up gaining a xu beast?
“Little one, do you know the way out?”
She asked gently.
The white beast nudged her with its head, then shook it in response.
Hu Xinyue frowned slightly.
It seemed the little one had lived here a long time, but still didn’t know how to leave.
“We’ll just have to take it step by step… But no matter what, I must leave before the Cangqing Grotto closes. Otherwise, I’ll never get out.”
She muttered.
After walking for a short while, she suddenly saw a tall figure up ahead.
Hu Xinyue’s expression shifted. She immediately hid herself.
But the figure had already noticed. “Come out. I’ve already seen you.”
Hu Xinyue gave a sheepish smile and stepped out.
Using the faint light at the bottom of the abyss, she got a clear look at his face.
It was the human cultivator who had entered the Dragon Tomb even before Yin Zanghua.
“I remember… your name is Shen Mo, isn’t it?” she asked softly.
