Seeking Fortune and Avoiding Misfortune: Starting from the Celestial Master’s Mansion
Chapter 62: The Lower Three Days and the Middle Three Days

The river flow of Tianxu Chuan seemed unchanged on the surface.

But Lei Jun possessed the Water-Repelling Golden Eyes, making him highly sensitive to changes in water veins.

Using these eyes, he detected that deep within the river, the flow of the spiritual energy in the earth veins had shifted compared to before.

Even the moisture and water vapor in some areas of the surrounding mountains showed fluctuations.

The root cause seemed to be a shift in the direction of the spiritual energy within the earth veins.

Was this change caused by the current Tianshi and the head of the Lin Clan?

It didn’t add up... Lei Jun was curious.

He eagerly anticipated this Third-Grade Opportunity.

However, recalling the “wait patiently for the right moment” message from his Supreme Good Omen, Lei Jun remained calm and patient.

He lived life at his own pace, always keeping busy.

Aside from patrol duties and his own cultivation, Lei Jun continued to study Spirit Talismans.

One day, he made new progress.

A flash of green light appeared, and a Spirit Talisman fluttered in his hand. The light shimmered across the talisman paper, and faint thunder rumbled.

But the glow vanished instantly, and the thunder was brief and muted. The light and sound disappeared in a flash.

The next moment, it seemed as though a droplet of liquid fell onto the talisman paper—

Thick, opaque, dark-greenish black.

Deep and dull, like an oil stain or ink.

But with a flick of Lei Jun’s finger, the “ink” seemed to come alive. Just before it hit the ground, it suddenly shot upward, unfolding in mid-air.

The dark ink was dull yet agile as it danced, finally landing on the target mountain rock.

The rock immediately began to corrode.

The ink crackled, forming hundreds of arcs of lightning that danced silently.

Lei Jun nodded. “The first type.”

He took out another Spirit Talisman.

When he activated the second one, a sharp “zzz zzz zzz” sound of electricity erupted, dense like a flock of birds chirping. The sound was piercing, unlike the silence of the first talisman.

However, the green lightning wasn’t violent.

Instead, within the strands of green lightning, there seemed to be a hint of life, like the renewal of spring.

It felt as though the lightning was awakening everything it touched.

At his command, Lei Jun waved his hand, and the green lightning gathered into a patch, hanging in the air like a swaying bamboo forest.

“The second type.”

Satisfied, Lei Jun waved away the green lightning.

Though he had started experimenting with the Flame Talisman, he had shifted his focus to the Thunder Talisman and made significant progress.

He crafted a few more Spirit Talismans and concluded:

“The overall concept seems correct, but I need soil- or stone-type spiritual items that embody resilience and stability to balance this formation.”

Unfortunately, he hadn’t found suitable spiritual materials in the Tianxu Mountain area.

Lei Jun wasn’t in a rush. He shelved his talisman research for now and patiently awaited the Third-Grade Opportunity in Jiuzhou Ridge.

One early morning, Lei Jun left his temporary residence at Tianxu Sect, ready for his daily patrol.

As he was about to descend the mountain, he encountered the night patrol returning.

“Senior Sister Xia.” Lei Jun greeted her, and they both exchanged the Daoist salute.

The woman was named Xia Qing. She wasn’t a disciple of Tianxu Sect but, like Lei Jun, was a True Disciple of Tianshi Mansion. She had been traveling before temporarily joining Tianxu Sect for training the previous year.

She appeared to be in her late twenties or early thirties, though she was likely older and had entered the sect before Lei Jun.

Her mentor, Elder Xia, was her distant uncle and a peer of Elder Yuan Mobai in Tianshi Mansion.

Interestingly, Elder Xia was married to Elder Hongyu, the Second Senior Sister of the current Tianshi. The couple were renowned high-ranking members of Tianshi Mansion.

“Junior Brother Lei, be careful during your patrol.” Xia Qing hesitated, then simply nodded and continued on her way.

“Senior Sister Xia seems to have something to say. Please feel free to speak your mind.” Lei Jun said.

Xia Qing paused, considered for a moment, and then asked:

“I didn’t mean to pry, but when I passed by your residence, I noticed you frequently burning incense and praying. Have you been busy crafting talismans?”

Lei Jun nodded. “Yes, though I wouldn’t call it busy. Do you need something, Senior Sister?”

“Forgive me if I’m being too forward, Junior Brother Lei.”

Xia Qing continued, “I’ve heard that you passed two tribulations and established your altar in under five years. It shows you’re exceptionally talented.

Given the recent turmoil, it’s understandable to prepare more Spirit Talismans, but don’t neglect your own cultivation.”

She sighed. “We’re staying at Tianxu Mountain instead of supporting our sect on Mount Longhu because we lack the cultivation level.”

Lei Jun recognized her good intentions and nodded. “You’re right, Senior Sister. Thank you for your advice.”

Xia Qing smiled wryly. “I should be thanking you for listening to me. Compared to you, I need to work even harder.”

Lei Jun knew she had reached the Perfection Stage of the Third Heaven Altar Realm years ago and was now preparing to cross the Heaven’s Chasm into the Fourth Heaven Primal Talisman Realm.

This was a crucial step.

Failing to cross this barrier didn’t mean death, but the lifespan for Third Heaven cultivators was capped at two hundred years.

Success meant entering the Fourth Heaven and extending one’s lifespan to four hundred years.

For Lei Jun and Xia Qing, who were still young, this meant more opportunities to advance further.

Additionally, the power boost between the Third and Fourth Heaven was significant.

In the Talismanic Branch, achieving the Fourth Heaven meant forming a Primal Talisman, stepping out of the Lower Heavens and into the Middle Heavens.

Just as they were about to part ways, a middle-aged Daoist passed by. “Nephew Xia, Nephew Lei, thank you for your hard work.”

“Elder Zhong, you’re too kind.” They responded in unison.

Elder Zhong, wearing a deep red Daoist robe, was a Tianshi-ranked elder of Tianxu Sect.

“Though the Yellow Heaven Sect cultists haven’t shown up, remain vigilant,” he warned.

Lei Jun and Xia Qing nodded.

“Has there been any news from Mount Longhu?” Xia Qing asked.

Elder Zhong shook his head. “No. It’s strange that those cultists haven’t taken advantage of the situation.

The quieter they are, the more dangerous their plans may be. Stay alert.”

After a few more words of encouragement, Elder Zhong left.

Lei Jun bid farewell to Xia Qing. “After this tribulation, I wish you success in receiving the Talismanic Rank and joining the Heavenly Court.”

She smiled faintly. “With your progress, I’m sure you’ll be there soon too.”

“Thank you for the good wishes, Senior Sister.”

As Xia Qing returned to rest, Lei Jun began his patrol.

After completing his usual routes and confirming there were no abnormalities, he headed for Jiuzhou Ridge once again.
