Seeking Fortune and Avoiding Misfortune: Starting from the Celestial Master’s Mansion -
Chapter 115: The Book of Heaven · III
At night, Lei Jun was already far outside Youpeng Mountain.
After searching around, he found a Daoist temple and decided to stay there for the night.
Although the temple was fairly ordinary, it belonged to the Talismanic Branch of the Daoist tradition.
Upon seeing Lei Jun's Talismanic Disciple credentials, the small temple’s residents were both astonished and delighted to have a Tianshi Mansion Initiate Daoist temporarily staying with them.
They attended to him with great care, though the environment was relatively simple. Fortunately, Lei Jun wasn’t particular about such things.
As the night grew quiet, Lei Jun sat cross-legged in the meditation room assigned to him, silently practicing breathing and energy control. Once his mind and body reached their peak state, he finally took out that peculiar sheet of paper.
When Lei Jun’s mana touched it, the page unfolded, and radiant light appeared. Mysterious symbols and talismanic patterns emerged across the surface.
After reading, Lei Jun felt a profound sense of connection, as if the page contained deep and enigmatic Daoist principles waiting to be understood.
[The Book of Heaven · III]
This phrase appeared in Lei Jun’s mind like an inspiration. This Heavenly Book seemed different from the Heavenly Book familiar to disciples of the Tianshi Mansion.
For Tianshi Mansion disciples, the term Heavenly Book usually referred to the Thunder Law Talismanic Canon contained in the Three Realms True Canon.
A Heavenly Book of this sort derived from the Thunder Law, paired with earth-based fire techniques, representing the duality of Heavenly Thunder and Earthly Fire.
However, the Heavenly Book in Lei Jun’s hands felt different. While he hadn’t fully grasped its contents, he sensed that it related more to the cosmos and universe than Thunder Law.
For now, though, he set those thoughts aside.
Lei Jun’s attention focused on the specific marking: “Three.”
What did this “Three” mean?
Was it the third page, or perhaps the third volume?
If so, this suggested that there were other chapters or pages beyond the one he currently held.
Reflecting on the Supreme Good Omen he had received earlier, which hinted at an expanding Opportunity, Lei Jun deduced that there were indeed more pages to this Heavenly Book.
Yet the omen itself carried no negative implications. This implied two things: first, this page was likely ownerless before he obtained it; and second, even if others held the remaining pages, they couldn’t track the one in Lei Jun’s possession.
Therefore, he could safely keep this page for now.
However, if he sought the other pages, the situation might change.
Or perhaps, one day, the Heavenly Book itself might alter in some way.
As an expandable Opportunity, the current lack of risk made it a Supreme Good Omen.
But if expanded, who knew what complications might arise?
“Yes, I’ll need to be careful in the future,” Lei Jun nodded slightly.
To say he wasn’t curious about the complete Heavenly Book would be a lie.
But in matters like this, if fate allows, it’s a blessing; if not, it’s destiny. There was no need to force things.
Lei Jun smiled wryly, recalling the novels he read back on Blue Star before his transmigration.
In some stories, such Heavenly Books were treasures everyone fought over, leading to countless conflicts.
In others, these numbered treasures served as tokens or communication tools for secret organizations.
“What kind of story will mine turn out to be?” he wondered.
Shaking off the whimsical thoughts, Lei Jun refocused on the Heavenly Book · Three.
After some contemplation, he decided not to store the page in his True-One Altar Grotto-Heaven.
Nor did he leave his body through spiritual projection to merge with the page. Instead, he opted to read and comprehend it in a conventional manner.
The symbols on the page differed from any known script.
Yet, by carefully sensing the underlying Daoist principles, Lei Jun began to understand.
He sat cross-legged, his Primal Talisman—nine feet tall and four feet wide—hovering above his head, radiating a soft glow.
The Heavenly Book floated in the air, mirroring his Primal Talisman.
Influenced by Lei Jun's mana, threads of light flowed from the page into his Spirit Talisman.
Suddenly, the quiet room filled with crackling sounds, like sparks of electricity.
The crackling grew louder, turning into a steady hum, and then into a faint rumble of thunder.
The sound echoed beyond the room.
The temple's Daoists and apprentices awoke in confusion. But upon remembering that a genuine Initiate Daoist from the Tianshi Mansion was staying with them, they quickly calmed down.
Whether it was a basic Thunder Talisman or a high-level Five Thunder True Talisman, these were signature spells of the Tianshi Mansion.
Reassured, they covered their ears, snuggled back into bed, and slept.
Meanwhile, Lei Jun was bewildered.
“Really? You didn’t have to slap me in the face so quickly, Heavenly Book.
I just thought you were different from our Thunder Law, and here you are gifting me thunder?”
He chuckled. Yet the thunderous energy was nurturing, filled with both creation and destruction.
Lei Jun felt invigorated by the lightning’s essence.
As the crackling subsided, a breeze emerged from the page.
Then came flames and streams of water, followed by other natural phenomena.
Lei Jun observed them calmly.
Wind and thunder, water and fire, mountain and marsh—each pair seemed to represent yin and yang.
When he felt balanced, two streams—one black and one white—spiraled from the page.
“Is this the principle of yin-yang balance?” Lei Jun pondered, his understanding deepening.
The symbols on the page seemed to encompass everything.
Mastering its wisdom could take lifetimes.
Lei Jun smiled. The black and white energies dissipated, and thunder returned.
This was a good starting point.
By comparing the Mansion’s Yang Five Thunder True Talisman with his own Yin Five Thunder True Talisman, and now referencing the Heavenly Book, Lei Jun gained new insights.
At dawn, Lei Jun stepped out of his room, feeling refreshed.
He apologized for disturbing the temple’s peace, thanked them, and left offerings and basic talismans as gratitude.
The temple’s Daoists and apprentices were awestruck but didn’t dare ask him to stay longer.
They cleaned the meditation room and revered the talismans Lei Jun left behind. Word spread, and soon villagers came to pray for blessings, making the temple more prosperous than ever.
Lei Jun resumed his journey, traveling by day and cultivating by night.
Upon reaching the Great River, he headed to a dedicated ferry port operated by the Tianshi Mansion.
Without needing to queue, he took a cloud boat across the river, continuing toward the Tianshi Mansion’s Chiyuan Grotto-Heaven.
