Chapter 184: Crossed Paths [Christian POV]
The moment Abigail left my office, I stood up and walked over to my desk, where the bouquet of flowers that I had picked out for Leslie stood.
I decided to finally gather my courage and see her. It’s been so long since I’ve seen her up close, I couldn’t stand it.
The large bouquet trembled slightly in my hands as I approached the small pocket door that led into her office. Nervousness and anticipation coursed through me as I took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
One second, two seconds.. a few seconds passed and I didn’t hear a response.
She’s here today, isn’t she?
I reached out and knocked once more, louder this time.
Again, even after a few minutes, nothing.
I frowned before boldly swinging the door open. My eyes immediately traveled to her desk, where I noticed her purse and other personal items.
She is here today. Most likely just stepped out for a moment.
Oh well, I guess I’ll see her another time...
I walked over to her desk, placing the new bouquet beside another one that was delivered yesterday. From the corner of my eye, I noticed that the crystal jar of chocolate-covered almonds was already opened.
My lips curved up into a small smile.
I’ll have to find a new snack for her soon. Eating so many chocolate-covered almonds could upset her stomach.
Just as I turned to head back to my office, I noticed a dress bag leaning off a chair in the corner of her office.
Is she going somewhere after work?
Immediately, my mind pictured her with the golden-haired boy, causing my stomach to turn. The possibility of him taking her out on a date was very high.
Closing my eyes briefly, I took another deep breath and walked back into my office.
"Wait for me, Leslie," I whispered under my breath.
The desire to see her-- to hold her in my arms was only growing with every passing day. I knew that it would be hard not seeing her after our confrontation that day, but I never expected it to be this hard.
I slumped down into my chair, covering my eyes with my hands. There was so much to think about, I found it hard to concentrate on anything.
"I need to do things one at a time. I’ll only wear myself out if I try to do everything at once," I said, finally opening my eyes after a few minutes.
Sitting up, I decided to tackle any work-related issues first before heading out to begin preparations on infiltrating the secret auction.

Before I knew it, the end of the workday had already arrived. I looked at the amount of papers I had sorted through with a satisfied smile.
Blake is going to be happy I finally sorted through all of those.
My mind instantly drifted over to Leslie. I wanted to know what she thought of the flowers I picked out for her myself. I wanted to know how her day had gone by and if there was anything I could do to make it better.
Then, I thought of the dress and where she would wear it. I could no longer contain my curiosity and got up to go down to Blake’s office, where I could see the street below clearly.
But the moment I opened the door, I found Leslie right in front of me. Her beautiful chestnut brown hair bounced slightly as she walked cheerfully down the hallway. Whatever she was thinking about must have been interesting because she didn’t notice that she had walked directly past me.
I wanted to reach out to her and call out her name, but instead, I stood frozen in place. My eyes never left her, following her down the hall until she reached the elevator.
The moment she turned around to press the button to go down, she finally noticed me. Her hand froze mid-air, and her eyes widened.
Neither of us said anything, standing frozen in place. But the air between us instantly grew heavy. I watched her with longing and desire. Just looking at her right now brought me a sense of peace.
Does she ever think about me?
What’s going through her mind now?
Should I call out to her?
Countless questions popped up in my mind, but before I had a chance to act on any of them, the elevator doors closed, blocking her from my view.
The momentary peace was replaced with frustration. I scolded myself for not running over to her, or at least waving. Instead, I stood like a deer in headlights, watching stupidly from a distance when I should have moved.
I walked over to the elevator, placing my hand atop the cold metal door. I couldn’t get her beautiful face out of my mind. It felt like she had gotten even more beautiful since the last time I saw her.
A few minutes later, the elevator doors finally opened again. Empty. The elevator was empty, but her sweet scent still lingered. I entered and quickly pressed the button to close the doors, savoring every moment I could have around her lingering presence.
The moment I arrived at Blake’s office, I barged in without knocking and walked over to the windows behind his desk.
"Sir?" he asked, bewildered.
I ignored him and glanced down. Sure enough, the golden-haired pest was waiting for her in front of the company entrance, leaning against his white car.
Even from this height, I could see the smile on her face as she greeted him. It was the kind of smile I would sell all of my assets to see.
Blake walked over to my side and looked out the window. "It seems like Miss Moresi is going somewhere tonight. I noticed the dress she brought with her today."
I continued to look out the window, remaining silent. Only after the white car vanished into the distance did I walk away.
"I came here to tell you that I finished all of the paperwork. They’re all on my desk," I said before quickly leaving his office.
The moment I entered the hallway, I pulled out my phone and dialed Zach’s number.
"Hey! What’s up, man?" he said as soon as he picked up the phone.
"I need a favor. Can you follow Lucas Christaphori and see where he’s going tonight?"
There was a brief pause on the line, "Sure. From the information I gathered earlier, he doesn’t live too far from me. I’ll see if I can follow him from there."
"Thanks, Zach. Keep me updated," I said, grateful for his assistance.
