Chapter 153: Hello Master’s Wife, I am Jun Xi
Chapter 153: Chapter 153: Hello Master’s Wife, I am Jun Xi
Gu Jinxiu wasn’t upset to see his dad favoring his mom; he decided to be generous and forgive them today since they were taking him out for fun.
The three of them had a simple breakfast and then left. There was going to be a lavish buffet waiting for them at the farm later on.
Gu Yikun didn’t bring the driver; he drove himself, with An Junxi in the front passenger seat and Gu Jinxiu in the back seat. Gu Jinxiu put on his little sunglasses and struck a pose, "Let’s go!"
An Junxi turned around to see him having fun and smiled, "Jinxiu, Grandma said you can play at home for half a month, then you have to go to the United States to study."
Gu Jinxiu immediately deflated like a punctured balloon, "Mommy, I don’t want to go to the United States."
Gu Yikun focused on driving ahead and squeezed out two words, "No way."
Gu Jinxiu looked to An Junxi for help.
An Junxi shook her head to show there was nothing she could do.
Going to study in the United States was mandatory. Jinxiu would inherit the Gu Family business later on, so he had to stay ahead of other children, even if it meant sacrificing some fun during his childhood.
She had already tried her best to balance Gu Jinxiu’s heavy coursework, so he could still play, although he worked harder than most children.
An Junxi felt sorry for the child, but she also understood that he was born into the Gu Family and would inherit the family business, so he couldn’t live as he wished.
The Gu Family company wasn’t just an individual’s responsibility; it supported thousands of employees financially. The burden was significant.
She said, "This half month off was hard-won by your Uncle Yue from your Grandma, remember?"
Gu Jinxiu remembered that Uncle Yue had promised during their seaside vacation that he could help him get time off if he agreed to play a little secret agent.
Uncle Yue really came through! He was amazing!
Gu Jinxiu stroked his chin in thought, wondering if there would be more good deals like this in the future.
He’d have to ask Uncle Yue about it later.
An Junxi didn’t know what the little rascal was thinking. When she saw the shrewd look in his peach blossom eyes, she saw a glimpse of Gu Yikun in him.
Could it be that Jinxiu would also grow up to be cunning?
An Junxi sighed and held her forehead. Oh well, the Gu Family’s genes were strong; she had to accept this fact!
Gu Yikun saw An Junxi’s dejected look and freed one hand to touch her forehead, asking, "Not feeling well?"
"No," An Junxi shook her head, "I’m just a bit nervous."
Gu Yikun’s lips curled into a charming smile. He knew what she was worried about.
He pinched her ear before withdrawing his hand, saying, "My teacher and his wife are very kind elders. They will like you."
An Junxi was still a bit nervous. It was the first time Yikun had brought her to meet his most respected teacher since they got married. It was like meeting the parents; she had to make a good impression.
After about forty minutes of driving, they arrived at the farm. An Junxi saw the cars lined up along both sides of the road and said, "All my colleagues are here. We must be the last ones."
She looked at Gu Yikun in frustration; it was all his fault for being so enthusiastic last night that she barely got any sleep.
Gu Yikun touched his nose and pretended not to understand her look, quickly parking the car, "Let’s get out."
Gu Jinxiu excitedly jumped out of the car, "I’m going in first!" and ran off towards the inside.
An Junxi hurried out of the car and called after him, "Don’t run so fast, watch where you’re going!"
Gu Jinxiu was like a wild colt and soon disappeared from sight.
Gu Yikun closed the car door and went to the trunk to get the prepared gifts, saying, "Let him be, boys aren’t afraid of falling." Not like little girls.
An Junxi understood this principle too; it was good to let children roam free sometimes. She just found it a bit hard to relax.
Gu Yikun held her hand as they walked in. The farm was indeed large, with many workers helping to maintain it. There were fruit trees, flower sheds, vegetable gardens, ponds for fishing, and fields for horseback riding... It fully satisfied urban people’s craving for nature.
An Junxi exclaimed, "It’s much bigger than my family’s small farm!"
Gu Yikun said, "This land belongs to the Yu Family. Surprised?"
The teacher had devoted most of his life to literary research. After retiring, he and his wife semi-retired and ran the farm, living a quiet and leisurely life. Sometimes, Yikun envied them.
He used to work tirelessly, but whenever he needed a break, he would come here to chat with his teacher, fish, and drink tea. It was a great place to relax.
An Junxi’s eyes sparkled, "I didn’t expect Yu Zheng to be a landowner’s son!"
Gu Yikun saw her expression and looked at her displeased, "Mrs. Gu, what did you say?"
An Junxi scratched his palm with her finger and smiled at him, "No one is better than my husband. My husband is the best."
Gu Yikun was pleased, "I like hearing that."
Si Yuan and her colleagues were already having fun inside. Food and drinks were provided. First, Gu Yikun took An Jun to Mr. Yu’s house, a Chinese-style courtyard with trees, fallen flowers, and green bamboo. It was very classical and artistic.
An Junxi fell in love with it at first sight, "This place is so beautiful!"
Gu Yikun said, "If you like this style, your husband can build you a courtyard like this."
An Junxi stuck out her tongue, "No need for that. We can just come here to play."
When they walked in, An Junxi saw a kindly old man sitting in the living room, working on wood carving. Gu Jinxiu was watching him intently, occasionally praising, "Grandpa Yu’s little horse looks so real!" He was born in the Year of the Horse, so he specifically asked Grandpa Yu to carve him a little horse.
The old man saw them coming in and put down his tools, wiped his hands with a towel, and smiled, "Yikun, you’re here."
His eyes fell on An Junxi, showing both satisfaction and surprise, "You brought your wife. That’s wonderful."
An Junxi handed the gift to the old man with a smile, "Teacher, I’m Junxi. This is a little token of my appreciation. I’ve often heard Yikun talk about you. I’m so glad to finally meet you."
"Coming to the teacher’s place and still being so polite," the old man took the gift and placed it on the table, "You must not do this in the future."
Gu Yikun said, "I should have brought Junxi to meet you much earlier."
Mr. Yu waved his hand, "I appreciate your intention. You’re a big company CEO; I know you’re busy." His own son as an assistant only managed to meet him every three or four months, let alone Yikun.
"Come, sit down. Your teacher’s wife just heard from Jinxiu that Junxi likes strawberries, so she went to pick some fresh ones."
Sitting down, An Junxi felt guilty, saying, "It’s too much trouble for her."
"It’s nothing. She loves to tend to plants and flowers every day; she can’t sit still."
Mr. Yu’s words were full of tolerance for his wife, and An Junxi found it enviable.
They had supported each other through most of their lives, living quietly and happily. It was such a blessed life.
She wondered if she and Yikun would be like this when they grew old?
As An Junxi was lost in thought, there was a commotion outside the hall. An elderly lady quickly walked in, "Are they here already?"
The old lady was holding a basket. When she saw An Junxi, she excitedly walked over, and An Junxi quickly stood up to greet her, "Hello, Teacher’s wife. I’m Junxi."
Grandma Yu’s face lit up with a smile, "So beautiful. No wonder Yikun loves you so much."
Gu Yikun smiled, his gaze full of warmth as he looked at An Junxi.
