Chapter 993: 017 Jollie Auclair Apologies_2

"Who exactly is this Bernard Taylor?" Adelle Turner stayed by Michael Auclair’s side, never imagining that someone related to Avery Graham could have such capability.

She had thought that Jollie Auclair merely threw a cup of water at Avery, that’s all. In a quarrel, either party could do something impulsive when agitated. To make such a fuss over a splash of water—Adelle found it to be quite unprecedented.

Of course, to cause such a stir over a trivial matter and even get police officers involved, that person must really be something.

"The people around Avery Graham are all no small fry," Michael Auclair said with a wry smile. That’s also why he had been unwilling to let go of Avery before. Back then, he hadn’t realized how much he liked her. He thought he clung to her simply for the potential benefits her friends could bring him in the future.

But now, he finally understood that Avery, with her straightforward and innocent nature, had long since made her way into his heart.

"?" Adelle raised her eyebrows in confusion. Avery looked so ordinary. Wasn’t it said that birds of a feather flock together?

What exactly did Avery rely on to get to know such capable people?

"Forget it, let’s leave it at that. We definitely won’t see anyone tonight." On the first night, Michael Auclair and Adelle went home separately.

Jollie Auclair kept her eyes open, waiting all night, but her Big Brother and Adelle never came. Gradually, she began to realize what she had done.

From the initial yelling and screaming upon entering, plus a night without food or drink, Jollie Auclair found it immensely uncomfortable. When dawn broke, someone finally brought her a small cup of cold water. In such cold weather, she didn’t expect hot water, but a bit of warm water would have been reasonable, right?

"Hey, this water is so cold, how can I drink it?" Jollie Auclair shouted loudly, only then realizing how hoarse her throat was. Despite the effort, her voice wasn’t particularly loud.

"Oh, I thought I was dealing with the young lady of a household here. Want hot water? Go home and drink it after you leave. Do you know where you are? Have you not figured it out after staying up all night?" The officer said with biting sarcasm, leaving Jollie feeling extremely wronged.

In such cold weather, the previous night she had only a thin blanket and a pile of straw to sleep on. Jollie Auclair had never endured such hardship—her family may not have been very wealthy before, but she’d never been mistreated.

Late, Big Brother started making money, and he was quite generous with the pocket money he gave her. Her life may not have matched that of the daughters of wealthy families, but she had never been treated like this before.

She had merely offended Avery Graham. What gave Avery the right to have her sent to a place like this, to suffer this way? Such a petty, vindictive woman—fortunately, she hadn’t really gotten involved with her Big Brother.

She hated her to death. If there ever came a day when fortunes reversed, she would make Avery suffer this same humiliation.

A cup of cold water—in the end, Jollie Auclair still drank it. It chilled her mouth, her throat, and then her stomach.

In the morning, Jollie Auclair received a cup of lukewarm soymilk and a cold steamed bun. They called it soymilk, but it didn’t taste of soymilk at all. Desperate with hunger, she still ate all of it, despite the taste.

She thought coming to G City was like arriving at paradise, and indeed, life had been very comfortable for her until she met Avery Graham.

Jollie Auclair waited until four in the afternoon before Michael Auclair and Adelle came to see her. As soon as she saw them, she started crying miserably. Adelle quickly dug out tissues from her bag for her, "Jollie, stop crying. We know you’ve been wronged."

"Wronged? This is a lesson learned, understand?" Michael Auclair had no sympathy for his sister at all, knowing she was just trouble, "I’m telling you, Jollie Auclair, if you want to stay here and get along fine, don’t go looking for trouble. What backgrounds people have here, what their statuses are—you have no idea. Don’t think you can bully anyone. Do you understand?"

"Michael, don’t be so harsh." With such words, not just Jollie, but even Adelle couldn’t bear to listen, although she thought what Michael Auclair said made sense. After all, appearances can be deceiving, just like with her. She couldn’t have imagined that the people Avery knew were all major figures in G City.
