Secret Wealthy Marriage
Chapter 98 - 98 98 Going to My Room

Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Going to My Room Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Going to My Room Carolline took the bracelet, and as there was a knock on the door, shortly after Granny Hawkins’ strong voice sounded, Bryan walked in with a fruit plate, just in time.

“Granny, here are the fruits you wanted.” Bryan glanced at Carolline and said to his grandmother.

“Hmm, bring them here, let’s eat them together. Sit down, Bryan, Granny has something to say to you.” Granny Hawkins requested.

Carolline didn’t know why, but hearing Granny Hawkins say this made her heart start pounding nervously. She knew that Granny Hawkins wanted to bring them together, but was saying something like this in front of Bryan a little too…?

Bryan looked at Carolline again and saw how tense she was, clutching her fingers as if she could anticipate what Granny Hawkins was about to say.

Previously, Granny Hawkins had hinted at him several times, very obviously. He wasn’t foolish, and if Granny Hawkins could be calm like him, he wouldn’t want to hide his marriage to Carolline and wouldn’t have suggested a secret marriage.

He knew his Granny Hawkins very well; once she knew Carolline was her granddaughter-in-law, the old lady would be extremely smug. By then, it wouldn’t be a surprise if it created a stir.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to have a wedding, he just hoped to have ample time and energy to prepare for their wedding. Moreover, Carolline had just turned twenty and was still very young.

He only needed two years, and within that time, he believed he could sort things out.

“Go ahead, Granny.” Bryan sat down, naturally sitting next to Carolline, and handed her a slice of American navel orange bought from an imported fruit shop— it was especially sweet.

“Thanks, Big Brother Bryan.” Carolline respectfully replied, trying her best to show that they weren’t close.

“…” Bryan was choked up for a moment. Before this, Carolline hadn’t formally addressed him. When she spoke to him, she never began with his name, but he didn’t mind. This was the first time she had addressed him formally, and right after they had been intimate, he became “Big Brother Bryan.”

“Um, you’re welcome.” In the end, Bryan managed to find his voice and appeared relatively calm.

“Bryan, what Granny wants to tell you is to cherish those who are worth cherishing. Those who aren’t worth cherishing, it’s best not to get involved with them, or at least minimize contact, understand?” Granny Hawkins knew that Carolline was shy, so she couldn’t be too direct. They couldn’t just head to the Civil Affairs Bureau for their certificate right now, could they?

Even though she really wanted them to.

“Understood, Granny.” Bryan knew that Granny Hawkins wanted to reassure Carolline, so he agreed with her very quickly. Besides, he only wanted to use Matilda to get Henry Lawson’s leverage through the Apricoom Building ad endorsement, and hadn’t anticipated Matilda winning first place in the competition.

He knew there were many powerful people in their circle, such as newcomer Lucy Wade, who was very strong. If he were the judge, he would choose Lucy and give up on Matilda.

But the main reason was that his Apricoom Building was originally designed for a pastoral setting and required a fresh, clean newcomer to be their ad spokesperson. Matilda had too many scandals, especially bad ones.

Of course, he didn’t plan to investigate this matter. Since he had given instructions, he must trust his subordinates. A good leader should give enough trust to their subordinates.

So, he didn’t show any doubts about Matilda’s candidacy and accepted it, even if he had reservations.

Now, he no longer planned to use the road of Matilda to search for George Morris’ weakness. The main reason was that Matilda, as a woman, was just too unaware of when to advance and when to retreat, repeatedly challenging his bottom line.

“As long as you understand.” Granny Hawkins was satisfied that Bryan agreed so quickly, and though his swift agreement surprised her, it was still a commitment to Carolline. “Also, hurry up and handle your own affairs. You’re almost thirty— getting married is the most important thing. Only after getting married can you talk about establishing a career, understand?”

Granny Hawkins just stopped short of saying, moreover, they had such a perfect match as Carolline here. If they missed out, they would regret it for a lifetime.

After hearing this, Carolline also thought that Granny Hawkins’ hint was so obvious that it was almost like forcing marriage. Saying it in front of her like this made Carolline feel too embarrassed to even look up.

Bryan naturally understood that this wouldn’t be Carolline’s idea. Carolline was straightforward and simple. If she were, she probably wouldn’t have agreed to go get their marriage certificate with him so soon.

Now that he thought about it, she really was a silly girl. It seemed this kind of silly girl should have been extinct in this world. He, Bryan Hawkins, had indeed picked up a treasure, and he agreed with Granny Hawkins.

“Don’t worry, Granny. When have I ever caused you worry?” Bryan said confidently.

Carolline felt her face completely burn up. She thought Bryan completely agreed with Granny Hawkins, showing no resistance at all. In fact, deep down, she felt quite sweet.

“…That’s true.” Granny Hawkins glanced at Carolline. The young girl’s face turned as red as a monkey’s butt as the two of them spoke without considering her feelings. It was a bit inappropriate. “Then Granny can rest assured. Waiting for your good news.”

Granny Hawkins was not the kind to keep being the third wheel, and with half of her worries relieved, she left the two of them and went to take her usual half-hour afternoon nap.

Carolline followed Bryan to the living room, where only the servants were cleaning. Bryan handed an empty plate to a servant and turned to Carolline, saying, “Do you want to rest in my room for a while?”

“I’d rather go to the guest room.” Carolline shook her head— if she simply went to Bryan’s room in such a carefree manner, what would the other Hawkins family members think?

“…Alright.” Bryan hesitated for a while before agreeing in the end.

Carolline followed Bryan to the guest room, opened the door and went in. She turned around, intending to say “see you later” to him, but Bryan seized the opportunity to follow her in, leaving Carolline somewhat dumbfounded.
