Chapter 932: 006 I can just stay at a hotel_2

Michael Auclair woke up, drank some water, and then went back to sleep, content.

The next day, he woke up at seven o’clock. Breakfast was served before eight at home, and he planned to pick Avery up. However, as he came downstairs, he saw his parents with very bad complexions. Usually, the kitchen would already be bustling with activity, but today it was silent.

"Dad, you’re up so early too? Mom, haven’t started cooking breakfast yet, eh? What do you want to eat? I’ll buy it and bring it back for Avery and me," Michael spoke to his parents with a smile.

"Michael, come here first. We have something to ask you," Mrs. Auclair called out in a low voice, devoid of any mood, worried the neighbors might overhear because of the poor sound insulation on their side.

Yesterday, Avery had dragged her suitcase out, and it was likely that the neighbors had already seen her. Their family’s issues had probably become the joke of the residential area early on.

"What do you want to ask me about? I still need to go pick up Avery," Michael walked over, seeing his parents this serious for the first time during a conversation.

With a ’slap,’ Mr. Auclair slammed his palm on the table, "I’m asking you, this Avery Graham you brought, did you pay her to deceive us, and she’s not really your girlfriend at all, did you hire her just to put our minds at ease?"

It was a good thing they hadn’t given any money to their future daughter-in-law yet. Still, it was all prepared in advance, including gold jewelry and such, with the idea of presenting it to them on the last night of their stay.

But before they could present it, such a problem cropped up on the very first night.

"Pfft—" Michael was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing, "Mom and Dad, did someone tell you something? Or have you watched too much TV? Others might do that, but why would your son? Do I need to find a fake girlfriend to deceive you?"

"If she really is your girlfriend, then why wouldn’t she be willing to sleep in the same bed with you? If you’ve brought her home, don’t you plan to marry her?" Mrs. Auclair was always quick to react. If things weren’t the best, that was one thing, but if they weren’t, then why would the miss prefer to stay at a hotel than to sleep in the same room as their son?

In today’s society, which isn’t like the olden days, they were not such closed-minded parents. Besides, many young women now became pregnant before marriage. If Avery were the same, they wouldn’t look down on her, in fact, they would be quite happy.

"That’s because Avery values her chastity. Before marriage, we just hold hands, share a peck on the lips. She said we could only live together after getting married. She’s different from other girls, and it’s precisely her difference that I love so much about her," Michael patiently explained. He didn’t know why his parents suddenly had such thoughts, but no matter how they came to think that way, he had to clear things up for them.

Mr. and Mrs. Auclair looked at each other, unsure of what to believe. To find a child like Avery was something from the old society, and if such girls still existed in today’s world, then they truly had found a treasure.

All they hoped was that their son was telling the truth.

"Ah, Dad, Mom, what do I need to do to make you believe that we are for real?" Michael was almost frustrated to death. This is his real girlfriend, not a fake one.

"Then, can we give her the money next time Avery comes? This time, let’s not give it, and if that’s the case, we’ll believe you." In the end, Mrs. Auclair came up with an idea. If it was fake, they wouldn’t give money anyway. If it was true, the next time, they would give double what they had prepared this time.

"Hehe..." Michael genuinely laughed, "So it’s the fear of being shortchanged that concerns you both. Don’t worry, Avery isn’t that kind of person. Even if you don’t give her anything, she won’t say anything. If you prefer next time, then next time it is. I’m going to pick her up now, and on the way back, we’ll buy some porridge, buns, soy milk, and fried dough sticks."

"Alright, be careful on the road. I’m going to buy some groceries," Mrs. Auclair finally believed her son. As long as he could agree so readily, the matter couldn’t be a complete lie.

Even if it turned out to be false in the end, they hadn’t spent a single penny, so all in all, they wouldn’t be at a loss.

"Understood," Michael nodded.

During the three days Avery Graham stayed with the Auclair family, overall, things went well. At least the two elders treated her very kindly. Although Jollie Auclair occasionally said things that frustrated Avery, she treated her like a younger sister, given that Jollie was younger, and didn’t hold grudges.
