Chapter 804: Chapter 804: Left Again (8)

Children who were kidnapped and returned home after several decades could burst into tears and embrace each other the moment they saw each other. Such scenes, indeed, only happened to others. That level of certainty came from families thinking of each other for decades. But what about them?

Perhaps this woman hadn’t thought of him at all in the nearly thirty years since they had parted ways, and he guessed that if he regained his memory, he probably wouldn’t feel any longing for this woman either.

"Thank you," Jordy Wade said gracefully as he took the burn ointment from her, squeezed a little onto his hand, and applied it, then handed it back to her.

"You’re welcome. Let me do this, I’ll cover your expenses for today," Ellie Wilton suggested the next step without Jordy Wade having asked for it, as it was she who had taken the initiative. She also pulled out her business card, "I own this specialty café, my name is Ellie Wilton."

"...I know, but no need," Jordy Wade looked at the words Ellie Wilton on the card, her hand was not at all like that of a fifty-year-old woman, it was still smooth, delicate, and youthful, like a fairy’s. No wonder Marcus Parker, a playboy, had been faithful to her since he met her.

Marcus Parker’s daughter was only in her forties, and she looked older than Ellie. She probably hated Ellie to the core.

However, that was none of his concern.

Even though the purpose of his visit to Kyoto was to see her, when Jordy Wade saw her talk to him without feeling anything for him, he didn’t understand why, but he felt somewhat bothered in his heart.

Even though he would still come to find her later, at this moment, he truly didn’t want to talk much more with her.

He got up to go to the counter to pay, yet he hadn’t taken a sip of his coffee.

"Hold on, sir, you haven’t tasted your coffee yet. If you leave to pay now, we won’t settle the account. We should respect each other, if you come to spend, an accident happened, and as the owner, I should indeed take on some responsibility. If you don’t need it, I can retract my previous offer, but you must finish this coffee. Our little shop does not allow waste of any kind, and there will be a penalty," explained Ellie Wilton as she pointed to the rules on her wall.

Jordy Wade looked and saw that everyone who came in could get a coffee refill, but at the time of payment, there should be no leftovers. If there were, the penalty would be three times the price of their consumption for the day.

"..." Jordy Wade pursed his lips, finding the rule quite peculiar, but eventually, he sat back down.

Ellie Wilton also sat down opposite him. He raised an eyebrow at her, somewhat confused as to why she was still here and had even sat down after things had been resolved, and he planned to stay and finish his coffee.

"Try it and then share your thoughts with me, would you?" Ellie Wilton looked at him earnestly.

Without replying, Jordy Wade took a sip of the coffee, and it seemed as if his taste senses fully awakened; the coffee was indeed excellent, rich and silky, truly a premium beverage.

It was clear that the person who made the coffee had chosen the ingredients carefully and put in effort during the brewing.

"It’s good," Jordy Wade gave a two-word assessment, then finished the rest of the coffee in one go, stood up, and walked towards the counter to pay and leave.

Ellie Wilton watched Jordy Wade leave, truly taken aback. This was her first experience with someone drinking coffee like this; he was truly an odd person.

She looked down, ready to clean up the cup he had used, and saw her business card left untouched on the table. He hadn’t taken it with him. Was she really so unwelcome to him?

Ellie Wilton didn’t understand why Jordy Wade disliked her so much, leaving her feeling deeply sorrowful.

As she was pondering, a shadow approached. Ellie Wilton thought it might be Jordy Wade returning and lifted her bright face in expectation, only to see Marcus Parker instead, with a fleeting hint of disappointment on her face.

"What’s that expression? Are you not happy to see me?" Marcus Parker, too, was observant, especially since he had witnessed her interaction with Jordy Wade moments before.

Of course, that man looked young enough to be her son, so he didn’t think much else of it but was curious about Ellie Wilton’s strange reaction to the man.

"Of course not, it’s just that this customer was so odd. He got burned in my shop, and when I offered to take responsibility, he wouldn’t accept it. Such an oddball." Ellie Wilton smiled faintly, handed over the rest of her work to a shop assistant, and took Marcus Parker’s arm, "Didn’t you say you would be late returning because you were accompanying Zoey to her mother-in-law’s birthday celebration?"

Today was Marcus Parker’s younger daughter Zoey Parker’s mother-in-law’s birthday. Although she was now Marcus Parker’s wife, Zoey had personally asked her not to accompany their father, so when Marcus Parker had asked her when she planned to open for business, she had said today.

Then she had a valid reason not to join Marcus Parker in attending Zoey’s mother-in-law’s celebration. Marcus Parker wouldn’t suspect, and although they were publicly husband and wife, their wedding ceremony had yet to take place, so if Ellie Wilton didn’t want to join, he could understand.

After all, it was just an ordinary birthday, not a major one, so Marcus Parker didn’t insist when Ellie Wilton chose not to go.

"It’s quite late already, you didn’t notice the time because the shop was so busy?" Marcus Parker affectionately pinched his beloved little wife’s nose. He truly hadn’t expected today’s opening to be so successful.

"Wow, it’s already half-past ten, it’s late indeed. I’ll clean up, and we’ll head back. Early to bed and early to rise is good for your health." This was a habit Ellie Wilton had cultivated while living alone abroad.

She had always held Marcus Parker to the same standard. No matter how much longer they could walk together in the future, every extra step was valuable.

She didn’t dare to hope for anything more.

"Alright, I’ll wait for you, go and give the instructions," Marcus Parker nodded.

"Okay," Ellie Wilton said and headed towards the kitchen.

Marcus Parker went outside to wait, and just as he stepped out of the café, he saw Jordy Wade standing not far away with his back to him, smoking. He remembered Ellie Wilton’s description of the man as odd and for some reason, he changed direction and approached Jordy Wade.
