"Alright, then I won’t insist on keeping you here." Carolline nodded at him.

"Daisy, I’ll bring your and Elena’s luggage home later," Simon Carrington said to Daisy Willow.

"Okay." Daisy Willow nodded.

Stella Carrington and Liam Carrington were taken away by Simon, their little faces dissatisfied. Liam didn’t expect that, after returning to China, he would have to separate from Sister Elena, while Stella felt that she didn’t have enough time to prove to Axel that she could please him better than Elena.

Never mind, there will be plenty of time in the future.

From now on, she has all the time in the world to prove many more things to them.

As soon as Stella left, Elena breathed a small sigh of relief, since having Stella around actually put a lot of pressure on her. When she was abroad, the happiest part of her day was chatting with Axel, even though they couldn’t chat every day. So when they could talk, she was at her happiest.

Even Liam noticed it and secretly asked her if Axel was the person she liked.

She felt that Liam was really too precocious at this age. How could he understand what liking someone meant? However, Axel was her best friend and someone she could never forget.

Axel accompanied her through the unhappy days, making her happy, as well as Aunt Carolline’s unconditional help to her family. She may not yet be able to express her appreciation maturely, but she kept everything in her heart.

And held it tight.

But Liam stubbornly insisted that her feelings for Axel were love. She had always treated Liam like a younger brother, so she didn’t bother to argue with him. Whatever he said, let it be.

However, somehow, Stella had overheard their conversation and had looked down on her ever since. Though Stella didn’t say anything, her expression said it all. It was the first time Elena had been looked down upon so thoroughly.

Stella didn’t like her or her mother, and she knew her mother worked hard to make Stella like her, but Stella ignored her mother. This made her feel quite upset.

Axel noticed this subtle reaction too. It seemed that Elena wasn’t telling the whole truth; she didn’t like Stella as much as she claimed.

He didn’t like this girl either, so their taste in people and things remained consistent.

Carolline found a restaurant, and the four of them ate together.

In front of Elena, Axel immediately turned into a chatterbox, talking non-stop, and Elena responded with a grin.

Watching the interaction between the two, Daisy Willow felt happy, "Time flies so fast. It feels like just yesterday your wedding was still months away. I didn’t expect it to pass in the blink of an eye."

"Yeah, things have changed a lot, and I quit my job," Carolline nodded and revealed her resignation.

"You quit your job because of Mr. Li?" Daisy Willow could tell who she quit for by Carolline’s sweet expression.

"Sort of," Carolline didn’t deny it. Deep down, she was a little woman who just loved to pretend to be a strong woman to intimidate others.

"Hehe..." Daisy Willow chuckled, making Carolline’s face turn red instantly, "It’s actually quite good. Speaking of Mr. Li, he’s so attached to you. How come you two aren’t together today?"

"...It’s the elders’ rule that we shouldn’t meet before the wedding. We’ve been apart for three days now," Carolline wasn’t unhappy about this. It didn’t matter if they didn’t meet since they would have the rest of their lives together.

"Yes, I’ve heard of this rule. They say it’s for the couple’s good. I’ve heard people say that if a soon-to-be-wed couple meets before the wedding, something bad might happen. So, just listen to the elders. It’s only a few days, right?" Daisy Willow nodded, and Carolline smiled, "Of course, those of us who are educated don’t believe in such things. However, in our village, there was a real incident where a couple didn’t believe in the superstition, met late before the wedding, encountered bad people, got robbed, and the bride... was directly assaulted. After that, the bride couldn’t bear the humiliation, and that night, while her family wasn’t paying attention, she jumped off the building and killed herself."

"..." Carolline didn’t know what to say, only that everything seemed too coincidental.

As the two chatted, they didn’t notice a hand reaching for the handle of their private room door. Hearing Daisy Willow’s story, the hand silently withdrew and left.
