Chapter 644: Chapter 644: Parting Sorrow (8)

Mr. Willow often taught them that it was not poverty that was shameful, but rather the lack of ambition in a poor family. It was why wealthy families looked down on the poor.

"Mr. Carrington, you shouldn’t say that. You generously offered Daisy a high salary, so we should be the ones feeling embarrassed," said Mr. Willow. He too was a man who knew how to talk. After Carrington made so many promises, he couldn’t just accept them without feeling guilty.

His daughter was indeed talented, but it was always better to remain humble.

"She deserves that salary. It’s not even that high," Carrington spoke the truth. Besides, even an ordinary servant in the Carrington Family would earn a six-figure salary annually.

"Yes, Mr. Willow. If Carrington said so, then it’s not an overestimate of Daisy’s abilities. She’s really capable; if not, we would have wanted her to come work at our hotel. She’s in high demand," said Carolline with a smile.

Bryan was happy with Carolline’s words, ’our hotel’. It showed that she embraced the right mindset, which he really liked.

"You guys are just being too kind to her," said Mr. Willow, continuing to be modest.

"Let’s forget about formalities, Mr. Willow. Let’s toast to you," said Carrington, raising his glass to Mr. Willow.

Later, Bryan and Carrington took turns drinking with Mr. Willow. Carrington drank less as he didn’t want to appear intoxicated on the airplane ride afterward.

Carolline chatted with Daisy, learning that she and her daughter would be leaving G City in about ten days. Axel’s face finally revealed a satisfied smile, knowing they still had at least ten more days together.

Carrington had a flight at 2 p.m., so he paid the bill at 1 p.m. and took a taxi to the airport.

Bryan, Carolline, Axel, and Daisy went out to have fun. Evelyn also wanted to join, but Samuel and Millie were busy with their construction project and didn’t want to bring her along. Evelyn cried and couldn’t be stopped by Millie’s glaring. Daisy pitied her and let her come with them.

"But you’ll need to take care of two children," Millie worried that Daisy couldn’t handle both girls simultaneously, especially when Evelyn was around Axel.

"It’s alright, sister-in-law. Let Evelyn come with us. It’ll be more fun with three kids," Daisy didn’t mind.

Millie had no choice but to agree and threatened Evelyn to behave before they left.

Bryan stopped a car and asked the driver to take Mr. and Mrs. Willow home to rest. He then called another car for Samuel and Millie before getting a chauffeur for his own car.

Originally, he wanted to ask Xavier Estrada to drive for him, but Carolline disagreed, saying it was Xavier’s day off.

What Carolline meant was that Xavier had been following Bryan for years without having time for a relationship. As a boss, Bryan should also be mindful of his staff’s personal matters.

Especially since Xavier was his trusted aide.

Thus, Bryan called Xavier and gave him a new order: to go on at least two blind dates and meet two girls that day. Xavier was dumbfounded on the other end of the phone call.

What Xavier didn’t know was that his lady boss was looking out for him, trying to help him find love through Bryan’s actions.

With three kids in tow, Axel and Elena played together while Evelyn kept trying to join them. Elena didn’t allow it, so Axel didn’t say anything.

"Elena, you can’t be like that. You should be friendly with Brother Kent too, okay?" said Daisy, looking at Evelyn’s pitiful face.

Although she knew that Elena had a good relationship with Axel, Evelyn was still their older brother, so they should treat them equally.

"Alright," Elena gave a toy to Evelyn, considering her mother’s request fulfilled.

Daisy was speechless. Axel, however, took the initiative to make room for Evelyn to play with them. Elena didn’t object when she saw Axel give in.

"By the way, have you found a school for Evelyn yet?" Carolline asked about an important matter. The Willow Family had just arrived from their old house, and they probably hadn’t found a suitable school yet.

"Not yet. My brother and sister-in-law are busy with their business. I’ll help Evelyn find a school before I leave," Daisy replied. She hadn’t formally discussed this with Samuel and Millie yet.

Carolline wondered if they had missed the primary school enrollment time. If so, they might have to wait until next year.

"I’ll ask my mom to help ask for Evelyn, and I’ll tell you tomorrow night," said Carolline. Although Emily Hill was only the deputy director of a private kindergarten, she might still have some connections in the education sector and could inquire about it.

"That would be great, Carolline. Thank you," said Daisy, feeling much relieved.

"Why are you being so formal with me?" Carolline shook her head.

They stopped at a water park in the city, which was packed during summer vacation. Seeing the long lines of people waiting, Carolline thought they couldn’t possibly get in.

"Should we find somewhere else to play? There are too many people here," Carolline didn’t even want to get out of the car, fearing they’d have to wait until evening.

"Mom, let’s just play here," Axel, who hadn’t been to the water park that summer, implored. They had visited three times during the previous summer vacation.

"But there’s a long line today. It’ll take a long time to wait," Carolline reasoned. She didn’t want Elena to wait in the heat, fearing the girl might get heatstroke.

"It’s okay. I’ll make a call," said Bryan, having the driver park the car to one side before making a call himself.

Ten minutes later, a slightly overweight middle-aged man came by and gave them tickets for three adults and three children for the VIP area.

Half an hour later, the three children were happily splashing around in the VIP section. The three adults didn’t go in. Bryan hired a nanny to watch the children, and then he went to rest in a lounge. Carolline and Daisy sat by the pool, drinking and watching the kids play.

Soon, someone brought them fresh fruit juice.

"This is so relaxing. Haven’t you ever thought about going back home and being a rich housewife?" Daisy joked with Carolline, speaking while Bryan was away.

"Hmm, I’ve thought about it," Carolline replied semi-seriously.

Her thoughts were due to their hospital’s dean, who had been increasingly targeting her. She hadn’t noticed it before but now felt it more and more obvious.
