Chapter 602: Chapter 602: Heading to Kyoto (7)
"You don’t have to answer now. I’ll give you two days to think it over and get back to me. If you become Simon’s wife, you will be the mistress of the Carrington Family, and half of the family’s assets will be yours. If you choose to take care of me, I will provide you with an appropriate salary and will never mistreat you. Of course, you can also choose not to pick any option. I would be disappointed, but I will still respect your decision."
The reason for saying this was not to tempt Daisy Willow with money and material things. He knew that when she divorced Cole Duncan, she had thought about not taking any assets from the Duncan Family, only wanting custody of Elena. Therefore, money did not hold any attraction for her.
Of course, once she became his granddaughter-in-law, she would naturally have half of the Carrington Family’s assets. This was a rule in their family, and unless the wife committed an unforgivable mistake leading to divorce, she could claim her share. For any other normal reasons of divorce, the woman would have the right to walk away with half of the assets.
The conversation ended there, and the old master asked Daisy Willow to wheel him back inside. The talk between the two didn’t even last an hour.
When they returned, Elena and Liam Carrington were already playing together. Liam had his breakfast and when he saw a young lady guest in his home, he quickly took out his favorite toys to share with Elena.
Elena, who was nearly three years younger than Liam, took good care of him. Liam, on the other hand, did not appear to be a three-year-old child; he was very mature for his age.
Sometimes, the things he said were more mature than what Elena would say.
Daisy Willow saw this scene and couldn’t help but smile. Simon Carrington was sitting in the living room with them, while the two children played with their toys on the carpet. Liam seemed to be more adept at playing than Elena and was teaching her how to play. Elena was learning very seriously, not noticing that her mother and the elderly master had returned.
After returning to the room, the elderly master asked the butler to accompany him to his bedroom, while Daisy Willow went to the living room.
Simon looked up at her, "Come with me for a moment."
Daisy glanced at the two children, saw that they were playing well, and followed Simon into a room on the first floor. After she entered, he closed the door behind them.
"What did my grandfather say to you?" During their less-than-an-hour absence, Simon had never felt such anxiety. He couldn’t guess what the old man would say to Daisy. However, he never thought the old man would dare to speak to her like that; wouldn’t it frighten her into running away with her child?
"He wants to hire me as his personal caregiver." She wasn’t averse to the personal caregiver role, which was just a fancy term for a personal nanny, taking care of the elderly man’s daily needs. However, it was the other identity that made her feel embarrassed when facing Simon.
"Is that all?" Simon clearly didn’t believe her. "You don’t have to hide anything from me. Whatever he said, you can tell me."
"Did you really divorce Mrs. Carrington?" Daisy lowered her head and asked softly.
"...Yes," Simon admitted. "It wasn’t what you think between me and her. We had no emotions at all. We only got married for what we each needed. It’s not like what you had."
"..." Daisy couldn’t imagine how two people with no feelings for each other managed to have a pair of children. But Simon’s words made it hard for her not to believe him.
