Chapter 529: Chapter 529: Someone’s Revenge (7)
"Because I’ve already explained the rumours I spread about your husband and Phoebe Miller before, those were idle talks from the internet, I didn’t start them." Charlotte Clark naturally wouldn’t mention what Bryan Hawkins had said to her during the dinner that night.
She didn’t hate Bryan Hawkins, she only hated Carolline Ruiz. If it weren’t for Carolline, she wouldn’t have had to suffer such humiliation.
"As you said, they are only rumours, with no credibility. Why would I take them seriously? You even admitted that you’ve explained, and I believed you. Additionally, my husband had invited everyone for dinner that night to clarify things. Isn’t that enough to dispel the rumours? Therefore, this issue had long since evaporated, it’s hardly a personal vendetta."
Everyone sided with Carolline based on her last statement. Indeed, if Charlotte truly insisted this was a private grudge, this woman was simply being petty.
Charlotte felt everyone silently agree, and her resentment for Carolline deepened further.
From the beginning to the end, she never realized that she had brought disaster on all the medical staff in G City due to her own actions. She had harmed Gavin Campbell and quite a few of her colleagues.
Regardless, she should find a way to avoid being assigned to Africa. If she could return, naturally it would be good. But she feared she might not come back. Life had so many wonderful things and she hadn’t enjoyed any of them yet.
"We all have work to do. Charlotte, I do not want to hear such things again," said Carolline before dismissing everyone.
She then returned to her office to continue working, feeling a bit weary. She had never expected having such a strained relationship with any of the nurses, but Charlotte was being overly obstinate.
Being so stubborn to the point of not knowing what to do next.
That afternoon, the chief announced that besides Charlotte, everyone else was liberated. The announced doctor was Gavin Campbell, and the nurse was Charlotte.
Suddenly, the bystanders remembered the morning stand-off at the nurse station between Charlotte and Carolline. Charlotte was selected and everyone else got lucky.
Charlotte was stunned. Everyone else had dispersed, but she stood still in front of the notice like a statue.
Did Carolline retaliate below the belt?
But how did Carolline have such influence? Moreover, she also knew that the chief had angrily removed Carolline from a VIP patient because of a disagreement. So the chief wouldn’t have chosen her for Carolline. Did that mean she had been the target of the hospital leadership all along?
Whether it be qualifications or age, such an opportunity for promotions shouldn’t usually fall upon her.
Charlotte couldn’t understand, and in that moment, she didn’t feel any happiness. She cried, sobbed, feeling profoundly sad. Thinking about her warm home, her brother and parents who cherished her, and the thought of parting with them for a year without reason, she felt anguished.
Charlotte sobbed alone in the restroom. Some colleagues who knew about it thought she deserved it, some sympathised with her. Those who sympathised were empathetic, putting themselves in Charlotte’s position. Those who thought she deserved it disliked her gossiping about everyone’s business. While others suffered, she treated it as a joke and shared with others.
So, such people aren’t really welcomed by others. Therefore, the fact that she was transferred, even if it was for a year, made them quite happy.
